Matt Giraud, in Nashville, TN for a little writing and recording, attended the awards show for the performing rights organization SESAC last night (Nov 9).
Kicking off CMA week, the SESAC awards honored Nashville’s best songwriters.
Matt tweeted, “This night is amazing. Watching all of these HUGE writers get awards. It’s just incredible to me. This is the place to be!!”
Matt looks good. I like the suit. I hope he hooks up with some great songwriters. Matt may be a terrifc songwriter, but I haven’t heard any of his stuff, so I don’t know.
Bottom line is this. If Jason Castro can get a record deal, I don’t see why Matt can’t.
Matt Giraud was my most favorite contestant in season 8, then Kris Allen. Hope he is going to release his first album soon.

I think it is great that Matt is going to be working with experienced, award-winning songwriters. He has so much talent, and growing his experiences and his base of supporters in the music business will certainly help him as he develops as an artist. I don’t follow closely enough to know the history of his earlier CDs nor have I listened to all the songs, but some of them show some songwriting skills albeit in a different genre from what he is targeting (e.g., Too Many Nights on his Mind, Body and Soul CD).
He said in a tweet that he is recording a duet in Nashville of a jazz song for a duet CD, so maybe this will be the first of his post-AI music to be released.
Lookin good Matty G.! I am looking forward to him putting out a CD, and even more than that I would love to see him perform live again. I loved his set on tour this summer.
Good for Matt! I hope he makes some great contacts there … and gets the record deal he so richly deserves. This must be fun for him.

It’s nice to see Matt, he was one of my favorites. I will be very interested to hear more about that jazz duet when info is available. Matt’s “My Funny Valentine” is one of my very favorite studio recordings from the season, it is really beautiful. I hope that Matt gets to make an album soon, I know he will one way or the other but I’m glad to see that he is out there making contacts with people who can help him.

JosieX, I love Matt’s My Funny Valentine recording, too. I’m excited to see his upcoming concerts selling out. Hopefully this will make it possible for him to schedule more. And I really hope someone posts some concert videos to this blog (please!).
The guys on tour for AI8 were all kind of saying that they would not go country with their music and yet gokey, Sarver and now Giraud are doing that. I saw the AI8 tour live and until they got to the final four, it really was not that interesting. Matt tries real hard but I am afraid he is just not destined for stardom. I’m sure he will always be able to work in piano bars. Also, his humor is sometimes overboard and annoying, so that he should tone down. Wish him luck. But, the bottom six of AI 8 are really going to need a lot of luck. As soon as AI 9 starts, all the attention are going to go those guys and gals.

LOL Matt is not going country. He has said numerous time he is putting out a soulful rock CD. Just because he is in Nashville working with country writers doesn’t mean his going country. I personally love Matt’s sense of humor. Matt is going to have more than stardom. He will put out amazing music not garbage pop. Can’t wait for Matt’s music! In a little over a week I will be hearing his new music in Grand Rapids. I will definitely be taking video! Also still looking for someone to Broadcast a cellcert for the November 21st show. Anyone willing?

Whether he goes country or not he just needs the right people beside him to guide him through the process. As I said before I hope he gets signed soon. He might have a shot at the music business.

I hope Matt gets a recording contract soon. He is very talented and hardworking and a great performer.
