American Idols Tour: Salt Lake City, UT
The Idols play Salt Lake City, UT tonight. Blake Lewis has extended relations in the Utah/Idaho area, so last night’s show in Idaho, and tonight are a homecoming of sorts for him.

Happy Mandisa Day! Also: Sundance Head and Sabrina Sloan Set to Record an Album of Duets
Today is the release day for “True Beauty,” Mandisa’s, (9th place Season 5), new album on Sparrow records, EMI’s Gospel imprint. Right now, the single from the album “Only the World” sits at #3 on the Hot Singles Sales chart and at #6 and #8 respectively on the Hot Christian Adult Contemporary chart and Hot Christian songs chart.
Mandisa has also released a book, “IdolEyes”. More information about her book and new album can be found on her MySpace.
Here’s an interesting piece of news from Entertainment Weekly, Season 6 Top 24 contestants Sabrina Sloan and Sundance Head, both signed to Universal, will be recording an album of duets together.

Season 7 Auditions: San Diego, CA
Season 7 auditions begin today in San Diego Ca. Would-be auditioners battled it out in traffic this weekend as they began lining up at 6 am Saturday morning at Qualcomm Stadium to receive their wristbands for today’s auditions.
San Diego is the first of 7 audition cities. For more details, photos and video check out the American Idol website.

Kirsten’s Tacoma, WA Recap
Mini Recap: Concert was great. Traffic was awful. PJ, Sarah, Erinn, Boomerang and Danjaya are fabulous dinner and concert companions. Melinda is AWESOME.

Here it is–this week’s Billboard Update
- It’s official. Bucky Covington takes the lead as 2007’s best-selling debut country artist. Yay Bucky…
- She’s charting at #6 and #8 on the Hot Christian Adult Contemporary and Hot Christian Songs charts (Only the World). And charting at #3 on the Hot Singles Sales Chart.  That’s Mandisa, whose debut album “True Beauty” will be released on Tuesday. Check out her my space to hear some samples and buy her singles…
- “Now 25″, the latest Top 40 compilation album, debuts at #1 on the Billboard 200. Carrie Underwood (Before He Cheats), Daughtry (Home), Kelly Clarkson (Never Again) and Elliott Yamin (Wait For You) all have cuts on the album. It’s an Idol Bonanza! Yee haw…
- Bucky Covington and Kelly Pickler both move up the charts this week. The other Idols either stayed about the same, or fell down the charts a bit. Not counting compilations, there are no Idol albums in the Billboard 200 Top 10 this week…
- Chris Daughtry (Home) and Fantasia (When I See U) hold on to #1 positions on the Hot Adult Top 40 and Hot R&B Singles/Airplay charts, respectively.
- Taylor Hicks (Heaven Knows) climbs from #23 to #22, its highest chart position so far.
Hey Paula: Episode 6
In last week’s episode, Paula Abdul becomes hysterical when she receives an email from the Bratz movie producers telling her that they no longer need her services. This Page 6 item cites a “source” that says, “Paula was not ever really a part of the movie, and she was a nightmare to deal with. There was no way that was going to work.”
However, Paula’s peeps tell US Magazine that she was not fired from the Bratz movie, but left on her own due to scheduling conflicts. As far the Bravo footage? Her peeps say, “Very creative editing.” O rilly?
This week’s clips of breakdowns and hissy-fits has Paula giving her hair stylist and “best friend” the authority to re-decorate her rental house, then TOTALLY flipping out when she finally sees it. Mind you, she could have met with the designer herself in order to impart her “vision” but she choose to go to an Oscar swag party instead. American Idols Tour: Tacoma WA

Just added a bit of a teaser to the Tacoma entry at Team Plaid. There are a few pics to whet your appetite.
Blake Lewis and Sanjaya Malaker perform for their hometown peeps tonight in Seattle, WA. Lucky for us, Sarah, PJ, Kirsten, Erinn and Boomie will be at the concert tonight (I am a jellus h8ter…).

In the meantime, blog regular, Sarah, (who also helps to administrate the cool Blake Lewis blog, Team Plaid) will be sending me text messages throughout the concert tonight.

- Update (7:38 PST) – HA HA Blake Lewis is dressed as a Pop Tart in the opening!!! His friend Ethan is up front taking pictures, so there should be some good ones…
- Update (7:41 PST) – A little girl just gave Sanjaya a rose…
- Update (7:48 PST) – Blake’s mom is dancing in the aisles to Chris Sligh’s solo…
- Update (8:01 PST) – Time for Blake! The whole place is up…
Update (intermission) – I spoke with Sarah on the phone and she tells me:
- When Blake started to perform the entire audience stood, and stayed standing for the entire performance. He gave a very heartfelt thankyou to the peeps in his hometown.
- Blake’s DAD wore a black shirt bedazzled with Blake’s nickname B shorty.
- Washington loves them some Sanjaya, too, but Blake took first place in the applause-0-meter tonight.
- The sound was much better tonight than it was at the beginning of the tour.
- Gina was cracking up during her duet with Chris Sligh: “Thnks Fr Th Mmrs.”
Second Half
- Update (9:02 PST) - Phil Stacey and the girls give Sarah goosebumps singing “America, the Beautiful”.
- Update (9:02 PST) – The guys number is fantastic! No backing instruments, just the guys playing guitars, keyboards and drums…
- Update (9:21 PST) – Chris Richardson and Blake did a little beatboxing battle at the end of their duet (Ain’t no Sunshine/Virtual Insanity/Geek In Pink)
- Update (9:23 PST) – Phil tried his best to crack Gina up during their duet. He got down on one knee to hug her…
- Update (9:29 PST) – Sarah is trying to get a picture of Blake, but he won’t look her way…and Melinda Doolittle just reminded everybody that Jordin Sparks is OMG Only!1! 17!11! OMG!
- Update (9:35 PST) – Melinda sounds even better than she did in Tampa, FL at the beginning of the tour. How did she not win? She got huge cheers from the crowd.
- Update (9:38 PST) - Jordin is finished with one song, and she’s already sucking down a bottle of water…
- Update (9:49 PST) – Jordin sounds good, but a little strained. Most folks have been sitting through her set.
