Season 7 Audition Update – Philadelphia PA
The last of the “cattle call” Season 7 auditions took place in Philadelphia, PA this week. According to American Idol producer Patrick Lynn, there was a “monster turnout.” at Wachovia Stadium. “Three times the size it had been anywhere else,” Lynn says. Philadelphia is not only the last audition city, but also the only tourstop in the Northeast. All in all, 20,000 people turned out to audition, the largest turnout in Idol history according to Idol publicists.
Anthony Fedorov worked the crowds at the audition for the local FOX affiliate. Also on hand were Kimberly Caldwell for TV Guide and Constantine Maroulis. According to Kimberly, tryouts in front of the producers are taking place at a secret location Wednesday and Thursday. Auditions in front of Randy, Paula and Simon will take place Saturday and Sunday.
Producer Lynn says, “Philadelphia is the turnaround city, so you’re lucky to be getting all the judging done in one week. In the other cities, we’ve just done the first round preliminaries and so we’ll be revisiting those towns after Philly.” The judges rounds with Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell, will continue through the second week of October.

Well, it was a very long couple of days, BUT WORTH IT!!!!! Late Friday morning, my husband and I first stopped by the Garden City hotel, because the Idol Forums said that the Idols sometimes stay there. We saw one large bus and one long dark limo in the parking lot. We went inside, but it was empty and the people there looked like they were about to shoo us out if we lingered, so we left. We heard that the Idol crew stays at the Marriott next to the venue but decided not to try there because it was getting late. Ealbino’s Meadowlands, NJ Idols Tour Recap
Well, my night seeing my favorite Chris R finally arrived last night and I must say my $220 ticket was worth it.. Like that commercial, idol tickets $220, parking $25, program $20, seeing Chris live while holding hands with my daughter and singing out loud to every song we knew..priceless.
To my surprise although my ticket said row L which I thought was 12th row turned out to be 6th row center because first row started with F and they skipped letter I! To the right of us was a mother with her daughter who looked to be in 20’s and her mom in her 40s.. and the left of us was a mom and dad with their two daughters, 10 and 12. We are so excited my daughter and I (daughter 30, me 53) that even though I knew Blake was coming up as the janitor I didn’t recognize him .He had a thick wig, buck teeth and mustache. Anyway, when he pulled everything off- whoa-…what a gorgeous guy!. All the idols looked like they were having a blast up on stage. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve been meaning to write this sooner, but ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s my week off before classes start so the thought of opening Word or writing more than 5 words in an email was very daunting. But alas, here it is.
Now before I get into the actual concert, I need to explain a few things. First, I went with my sister to the concert and she was dreading every moment of it. She watched Idol out of obligation to a family that likes to bet on the show à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ she lost because she bet on Chris Richardson winning. She only chose him because she liked his bobble-headed moves to Geek in the Pink. Needless to say, she had some interesting comments to make during the show. I put in her edited version because some of her comments were really harsh and mean (really mean). The second thing is this is my first recap so apologies for its length (ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s long), content, etc.

More News on The Next Great American Band
There’s more news on the “The Next Great American Band,” the new FOX show musical reality show from the producers of American Idol:
Sheila E. (The Glamorous Life) and the Goo Goo Dolls’ John Rzeznik will headline the judging panel on The Next Great American Band, a new music competition from the producers of American Idol.
The rest of the field tilts Down Under: Australian Idol’s Ian “Dicko” Dickson is the third judge, and New Zealand Idol’s Dominic Bowden hosts the Fox series. It premieres Oct. 19.
That’s Friday, October 19. The premise of the show is like Idol, only with bands instead of individual singers. I’ll be posting recaps of the show right here.
Last week, the judges took part in a Las Vegas round in which they narrowed the field. “The experience was more like boot camp,” says Sheila E., who has been musical director for Prince, Beyoncà © and Jennifer Lopez. “We actually heard a lot of great bands, (and) we heard a few people we could have gonged.

I am not a writer nor do I pretend to beà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦  So why am I writing?  Well, Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve enjoyed the various accounts Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve read about the American idol tour so much, I feel it wouldnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t be fair if I didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t at least try and share my experience.
Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve watched American Idol for 5 seasons (missed season #1) and have really enjoyed the show.  Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s hard to say what my favorite season has beenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ personal highlights includeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ Kim Lockeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s New York State of Mind, Fantasiaà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Summertime, Constantineà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Bohemian Rhapsody, Elliottà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s If I Can Dreamà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ and many moreà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦

Sarah’s Taylor Hicks Orlando FL Concert Recap
My Taylor Hicks at Hard Rock Live experience started a couple months ago, when tickets went on sale and SpenserJ and I discussed going to the show together. She subsequently bought the tickets for us, but as it turned out, Spense would not be able to go. So she sent the tickets (great front row seats!!) to me, and I tried to find someone else to go with me, but at the last minute, I was unsuccessful.
