Blake Lewis Album Clips and More
Here’s the latest on Blake Lewis via the fab kids at Team Plaid…
- You can listen to 30-second song clips from Blake’s debut album “Audio Day Dream” via Barnes and Noble.
- The video for “Break Anotha” will world-premier on Yahoo Music, Thursday, 12/6.
- Blake’s AOL Sessions will premiere next Friday, 12/7.
Blake’s debut, “Audio Day Dream” drops this coming Tuesday, December 4th.
Hollywood Week – Update!
Potential Season 7 contestants are in Los Angeles auditioning for top spots in this year’s American Idol competition. Here is some new information from Milajoy/JoesPlace from Idol Forums.
- The kids are somewhere in Pasadena having their numbers whittled down. Hollywood “week” officially starts today.
- On Monday, Day 1, half the contestants auditioned. About 24 got a “fast pass” to Thursday’s audition.
- On, Tuesday, Day 2, the other half who were flown out a day later auditioned. Instruments and/or singing with a small band were permitted during these preliminary auditions.
- Yesterday, Day 3, those not winning a “fast pass” sang again a capella.
I’m hearing there will be no group auditions this year.  Check out yesterday’s spoiler post for a list of contestants rumored to be in LA this week…

Jordin Sparks Album Debut Opens at 119K
Lot’s of chatter on the blog today, about why Jordin Sparks debut album opened with the lowest Soundscan numbers of any winning Idol to date. She’ll chart this week at #10 on the Billboard 200, selling a total of 119,000 albums. For more numbers, check out Kirsten’s Idol Sales post.
1. Did a lackluster season begat a lackluster Idol?Â
2. Did the producers spend so much time last year pimping guest hosts and their charity event, instead of the contestants, that their winning Idol never had a chance to make an impression on the viewing audience?Â
3. Does Jordin’s record just flat out suck? Well, I finally got a chance to listen to her debut on Rhapsody, and I found most of it pretty bland…
I think it’s a combination of all three, with extry special emphasis on 2. and 3. Â

It’s DAY 3 of Hollywood Week!
Breaking News: I just got a tip! Rumor is, there are NO group auditions this year (BOO!). The kids are singing a cappella today. Click the jump for another potential Hollywooder!
This week, Season 7 contestants who have made it past auditions with Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson are at the Orpheum theater in Hollywood auditioning for the final spots in next year’s competition. By the end of this week, the field of competitors should be narrowed down to the Top 40 or so.
The kids in the Spoiler thread at Idol Forums have been busy these past few months sleuthing the net, and they’ve got the scoop on who we may be seeing on our TV screens come January when Season 7 of American Idol begins. Click the jump if you want to be spoiled.

Highlights:
- Blake Lewis’s new single “Break Anotha” debuts on the Billboard Pop 100 at #85
- Jordin Spark’s single “Tattoo” debuts on the Canadian Hot 100 at #74 and the Hot Canadian Digital Singles Chart at #72. “Tattoo” climbs from #18 to #16 on the Billboard Hot 100.
- Carrie Underwood’s “So Small” hits the #1 position on the Hot Country Songs chart.
- Not on the Billboard Chart this week–but a special congratulations to Bo Bice for his video “Witness” taking the Number #1 spot on this week’s VH1 Top 20 Countdown. That’s a lot of pointing and clicking, fans…
