A David Cook update via his My Space. And there’s some news! He’s begun to put his band together:
Hey guys. Sorry for the delay in updates. It’s been difficult finding the time to get a new Vlog put together, so I thought I’d write a quick blog instead. :)
We just wrapped another successful show in Pittsburgh, PA. The crowds have been great. Very responsive. VERY loud. I love it.
We’re neck deep in this record. Mr. Rob Cavallo is pushing all the right buttons and turning all the right knobs to make this record great. Just as importantly, I’m proud to announce the first addition to my band, Mr. Neal Tiemann (hereafter referred to as “Doctor”). Doctor was the chief songwriter/lead guitarist in MWK, the band I played with in Tulsa. He’s one of my closest friends and I am absolutely stoked to have him on board.
Also, he assures fans that he’s not behind the rip-off prices some distributor is charging for his record from his old band. I say, why buy when you can download for free? Heh. He also pimps the upcoming singles of his fellow Idols David Archuleta and Kristy Lee Cook…

Concert Review: The two Davids salvage American Idols Live
With a wave of the “American Idol” light sticks, Mellon Arena was transformed into “AI-7″ central Tuesday night as the tour steamrolled into town — and all but fell flat on its face.
This year’s show featured a cheaper stage than last year’s and brought each performer out for a three-song set, in the order that they were eliminated from the show. And they all — with the exception of “The Davids” (Archuleta and Cook) — did a note-for-note copy-cat performances of top 100 songs that were fan faves on the show.

Thousands jump on the ‘Idol’ express in S.L.
Several thousand young people got a chance to be part of “American Idol” on Tuesday — and for most of them it was short and bittersweet.
Out of the estimated 4,000-6,000 who showed up to audition at the EnergySolutions Arena, only about 200-400 were expected to make it to the second of three rounds. Those who did, however, could hardly contain their excitement.
“I was freaking out. I was so nervous. I started shaking like crazy,” said 18-year-old Skyler Holman of Salt Lake City. “I was so happy, because I’ve dreamed about this forever. Ever since the show came on.”

ETA: Sebastian Pigott is eliminated. Mark Day and Mookie Morris are in the Bottom 3.
Who is going home tonight? I would not even venture a guess… The video should be available HERE by around 8:30 ET. I’ll put it up as soon as it’s available…
Tonight’s group song, The Who’s “My Generation” had just enough of the tongue-in-cheek to make me laugh. But there was also plenty of good singing. The AI producers really need to take a clue from CI for their group numbers. CI does an awesome job.
Nice acoustic performance from Gavin Rossdale. The recorded version of this song is a bit too poppy for me, but I do like some of his stuff with Bush.
Sebastian Pigott’s elimination doesn’t surprise me. Sure, there were singers who could have gone first, but Sebastian had a couple of trainwreck performances that would have been difficult for any Idol contestant to overcome. His OK performance this week, coupled with performing first wasn’t enough. Plus, he had that whole Toronto-doesn’t-vote-for-Idol thing working against him.
Sadly, I’m not sure that Mookie Morris is long for this world, as he keeps landing in the Bottom 3. Although the good news is that Mark Day FINALLY hit B3. The end is in sight! Heh.
Next week: Tom Jones!

Idol Birth Year - 80’s Redux? What should the Idols Sing
Karen and her fellow mom hit the road to the Idol’s concert in Rochester NY. Read her account below…
I won a pair of tickets from the radio station I listen to. My neighbor joined me and we were very pleased to have a suburban moms girls’ night out. I was surprised to see that many of the people were my age (40ish) and older without kids in tow (lots more suburban moms having a girls’ night out). There were plenty of ‘tweens, and a smattering each of younger kids and older kids. Some signs, not a lot.
The Blue Cross Arena in downtown Rochester, NY holds around 7,000. The place was very near to full, if not totally sold out. There were floor seats and a lower tier and upper tier in a u-shape. We were in the lower tier, house left, just where the curve of the “u” starts to bend toward the back of the house. There were three screens: one directly above the stage and one on either side of the stage. The two side ones were showing various videos of past idol contestants and winners - we saw Blake, Daughtry, and Jordin. During the show, the center one was used primarily for lighting/video effects, and the side ones showed the performers up close via hand-held cameras at the edge of the stage and fixed cameras behind the sound board, which was at the back of the floor seats.
