Chris Sligh: I Will Not Be Commenting On Idol Any Longer
Chris Sligh put up a new blog post today. He’s going to be erasing any mention of Idol from his promo materials for his upcoming album and tour, and in light of that, he plans to quit blogging and tweeting about Idol altogeher:
With all of this in mind, it seems a bit hypocritical to be tweeting about Idol and Idols as much as I do. So, as of today, I am making a conscious decision to delete Idol from my publishing life as well. I will not be commenting on Idol any longer. I think that this is the season to stop: it’s so horrible that I can’t imagine that I will have ANYTHING to say but negative…and I am simply trying to control how much negative I have a part in. Well, I may throw a comment in every now and then…but not en force like it has been in the past.
So, Idol is a double-edged sword…but it won’t be with me any more. I’ll end with this:
American Idol, thanks for the joy you’ve given me for the last 3 years, both in my career and seeing how other’s succeed. But I’ve got to let you go now. Time to move on! Good luck to you in the future…you are loved.

Clay Aiken Speech at the HRC Carolinas Dinner – VIDEO
Speaking at the Human Rights Campaign’s Carolinas dinner last night, Clay Aiken gave a pretty damn moving speech, speaking out for LBGT equality.
Supposedly, he ditched the speech given to him by the HRC, opting to pen his own that ditched bashing TPTB in favor of a more positive message.

Elliott Yamin Reports From Chile, Hopes to Go Home Soon
Update from Elliott: “man, situation is grim here!..we truly are in a disaster zone!..just like we always c on the news in the states.no flghts available anywhere.” Elliott’s brother Scott tweeted that E is OK on his insulin supply until he gets back to the states…(Elliott is Type 1 diabetic)
Elliott Yamin spoke to MSNBC today from Santiago, Chile about Friday night’s earthquake in Chile. Elliott was in Vina Del Mar for a music festival when the 8.8 earthquake hit.
Elliott and his fellow festival participants were bused from Vina Del Mar to Santiago yesterday, and, Elliott says, the festival officials are working on getting them all home.
Sitting at his computer at the time of the quake, Elliott was able to tweet some of the first reports from the disaster. News outlets soon picked them up, and Elliott has been busy doing television interviews ever since.
There have been many aftershocks since Friday night, the latest about 1 hour ago, “tremmmmmors as i am typing..early this morn, there was pretty big aftershock!!..the entire entire room was swaying back & forth!”
Scary stuff! Stay safe Elliott. Thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Chile.

Next up, is Jennifer Hudson. Check out this unreleased track called “Can’t Help Who You Love”, produced by Akon.
Jennifer is hard at work on her sophomore album set to be released later this year.
This track doesn’t sound like A-list material…and I’m hearing her A&R manager has confirmed that it’s a leftover from her first album.

How to tell when ‘American Idol’ is playing favorites
I had lunch with Phil Stacey and Chris Sligh last week, and we got into an interesting discussion about how to watch the show and which cues signal the show’s producers and judges’ desire to see particular contestants advance in the competition.
“The judges have way more control than America likes to think they have,” says Chris, He compares the American Idol judges to the television commentators who work ice-skating events at the Olympics.
“The way that I know ice skating is really good is when Scott Hamilton’s voice goes up an octave,” he says. “But he could tell me it was horrible, and I’d be, like, ‘Yeah, that was horrible.’

Paula Abdul Will Not Be Dancing With Any Stars
When you wake up Monday morning to read the list of “stars” who will be on next season’s “Dancing With the Stars” … Paula Abdul’s name will not be on it.
Sources close to Paula tell TMZ the former “American Idol” judge has decided against doing the show — despite the giant bag of money ABC practically threw at her.
As we first reported, the alphabet net offered Paula a $1,000,000 development deal … if the agreed to do “Dancing.”
Paula is still in talks with Simon Cowell about joining his upcoming “X Factor” show.
Adam Lambert’s Keyboard Player Leaving the Band
Corrected: Adam Lambert’s has a new keyboard player. Zac Baird, who has been playing dates with Adam recently, announced he’s moving on, via his twitter. “thx 4 ur relentless interest!

Kris Allen helped Robin and Phil McGraw kick off Phil’s Little Kids Rock Across America at an event today in Los Angeles
The Dr. Phil Foundation Little Kids Across America “is designed to restore, revitalize and enhance musical programs in schools in 10 cities across the country.”
The program will bring free musical instruments and education to 25,000 under-served schoolchildren across the country.

I agree with commenters, that both songs sound like old material and aren’t candidates for the new records both are working on.
Cook and Archie have both been busy writing new songs and are expected to release new albums later this year.

Anoop Desai – FOX 8 Interview – VIDEO
Anoop Desai talks to FOX 8 about his new single “My Name”, co-written with Season 7 Idol Brandon Rogers, his new EP and how his songwriting is informed by his past relationships.
Anoop says that Idol helped him hone his musical identity.
You can hear the catchy new single in the background during the interview. “My Name” drops on March 23. The 8 song EP will be available in early May.

Bachelor’s Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney Wed in Downpour!
Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney got married on a wet Saturday afternoon at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., a source confirms to UsMagazine.com.
The ceremony took place on a lawn overlooking the ocean; the couple exchanged vows beneath an altar made of tree branches, white lillies and orchids. Wearing a strapless Monique Lhuillier gown and Neil Lane jewels, holding an all-white bouquet, Malaney walked down the aisle as American Idol alum Jason Castro performed “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” White doves were released in the middle of the ceremony.
As the couple read their vows, it started pouring. Mesnick and Malaney had a good laugh as they got drenched. Following their kiss, Castro sang “That’s What I’m Here For” as Mr. and Mrs. Mesnick walked out.
Among the party’s 250 guests — to be broadcast in a two-hour ABC special March 8 — were Bachelor alum Trista and Ryan Sutter. Melissa Rycroft, the “final rose” recipient famously dumped by Mesnick on-air (Malaney was initially his runner-up) during the tumultuous thirteenth season, was not present.

SINCE leaving Simon Cowell speechless with his sexually charged performances on American Idol, outrageous pop prince Adam Lambert has become one of the most controversial stars in the States.
The openly gay 28-year-old’s raunchy routines, unique style and outspoken attitude have seen him dubbed Lad GaGa (although he thinks his close friend Lady G should be known as “Madam Lambert”).

Elliott Yamin Tweets From the Devastation in Chile
An 8.8 magnitude Earthquake hit chile last night. Idol, Elliott Yamin is in Vina Del Mar for a music festival, about 90 miles southwest of the epicenter, about 90 miles from Santiago, and is safe thank god. He’s been posting updates from his twitter account. An interview Elliott taped for NBC news is set to go live at around 8 am. I’ll be posting that right here shortly.
Elliott is a Type 1 diabetic, and he’s only packed enough insulin until Sunday. His blood sugar is really high right now, so that’s a worry for him. He says the airport is reduced to rubble, so he might be stuck there for awhile.
