I really do like Ace a lot. I really do. However. That song, “Addicted”, is SO generic, white-boy (read Timberlake and every boy band) r&b, whatevah. Nothing special about it at all, though he sounds fine and the production seems first rate.
I most certainly want to hear what else is on the album, but I am not so fond of this song. If the rest are like this, I am not buyin’.
I used to be a fan of Ace, but he just took way too long to get things going that I lost interest.
His single is just blah, IMO, and I do not think he will attract any new fans. But finally after hearing his album would be out in a couple of months, then a few more months after that, then 2 years later, it seems Ace finally has pulled through, but I no longer care for his music or this album.
YAY Ace! I liked what I heard of the song back a few weeks ago when he first put up the clip, and I do still like Ace. So, I’ll definitely be buying the album. :)
I know some fans were upset it took Ace so long to put out a CD, but the music business is tough, even with the exposure of being a top 10 finalist on Idol. Ace is a hard worker… he hasn’t been sitting around twirling his thumbs for two years. He said he’s been doing corporate gigs with his band to pay for the production of the CD. I’m guessing his S-Curve deal didn’t work out (they never updated their website after they announced they were back in business), so he put it out himself. I do think he could have communicated better with fans, though. We’ll probably never know the whole story.
“Addicted” sounds radio friendly to me. Hope it gets some spins. I can’t wait to buy and listen to the rest of the album. Go Ace. :-)
PS NICE COVER!
I’m rooting for Ace and this album. He’s a good guy and very hard-working - he deserves some measure of success. I think “Addicted” is super radio-friendly, so hope it catches on. I’ll definitely be buying his album. Chris Daughtry co-wrote one of the tunes and I can’t wait to hear it and the others.
Finally!! Yes, “Addicted” does sound pretty good, and generic. That’s fine with me. No need to be different. Different doesn’t always work, e.g., Blake Lewis. “Addicted” is catchy, makes you want to dance, and should fit right into todays radio hits nicely.
I’ve waiting, along with a few other faithfuls, for two years for this music. I’m not about to jump ship now.
At first hearing, I thought “Addicted” was okay - not bad, not remarkable. Funny thing is, the more I hear it, the more I can’t forget it. I find myself singing it in my head all day long. I think it has the elements of a hit - dancy, got a good catch, and it’s contemporary. There are going to be comparisons to Timberlake, which I truly thought Ace wanted to avoid, but I think it can do well. That is, IF it gets airtime. I hope Ace follows Elliot’s path and gets heard despite not being backed by the 19 machine.
Go ACE!!
I hope things work out for Ace - he’s such a nice guy. And, may I add, that that is a FINE looking face. Very nice cover.
I think Ace is a great guy and I’ll buy his CD to support him even though I’m not crazy about the first single. I hope things go well for him.
I think it’s not a bad song although it really does have a JT type sound. I will check out his cd when it comes out but it may be too poppish for me.
You all know where I stand on this. lol I’m loving Addicted and will definitely be buying the CD.
That means that all of the top 9 from Season 5 will have albums out…the highest without one (post-Idol) will be Lisa Tucker…
I listened to this trying to like it because I feel bad for Ace. With a season that’s had so many success stories I feel bad it’s taken him forever to get something out. But this is just so mediocre. The problem for me with Desmond Child is he still sounds like he’s stuck in the 90’s. He was very successful back then and his sound worked well then. Now, not so much. I also wish he would cut his hair. He always seems to look the same.
