    Nice!

I love Ace!! I have seen him do Dream On live and it is great live and he did it very well on this video! It is my opinion that Ace is one of the most under rated singers from Idol. His pretty face makes some people not take him seriously but the boy can sing imo!

    SWEEEEEEEET!

Really? I skipped watching the intro…I’ll add that to the headline, Thanks!

    Is there a link?

  8. 8 schmanda Sep 3rd, 2007 at 1:06 pm

Did anyone catch Vonzell Solomon singing as part of “Simply Ballroom” about half an hour before Ace? (Yes, I stayed up late to watch him. *blush*) I missed the intro, but there was no mistaking it was her.

  9. 9 Chicago-sally Sep 3rd, 2007 at 1:24 pm

MJ can you post a video of Vonzell too? I guess it takes a while to get some recognition and get some gigs after AI. vonzell was one of my faves.

Thanks, MJ! Ace sounded great! I heart Ace. Shocker, I know. ;-)

The video posted in the headline thread has the intro for Ace. He did say album this fall and s-curve recording artist! Woo hoo!

ETA: I am tired of Scattered. I wish he had given us a taste of something new. I guess I’ll take what I can get. LOL.

Agreed pj. Nice to see Ace on TV again, though. Thanks for recording it MJ! Happy Labor Day!!

Ace is still his own adorable, gorgeous self. I really enjoyed the performance, thanks to MJ. I listened from 9:00 til after 11 and then gave up. I would have loved to have heard him and Vonzell also last night. I folded too quick! PS: he sounded and looked entirely unself-conscious in the video. I think he would have lasted longer on Idol and maybe have gotten a record deal except for his obvious nervousness.

Well, all I can say about Ace is this — His FALSETTO is what distinguishes him from the rest of the pack. He should really put it into good use.

  14. 14 Lu Sep 3rd, 2007 at 4:24 pm

PJ - Ace wants to surprise you with his new music in the fall…. I’ll bet that’s why we got scattered :) I suddenly feel the urge for a bowl of edy’s ice cream. How bout you schmanda?

  15. 15 Chicago-sally Sep 3rd, 2007 at 4:28 pm

What label is Kimberly locke on - I thought it was S curve? It’s hard to believe that Constantine couldn’t get a major label to sign to and had to go self-produced…hm…what’s with that? If Ace can do it, can’t Con?

  16. 16 pj Sep 3rd, 2007 at 4:33 pm

If Ace can do it, can’t Con?

Ahem. Constantine has no deal. That is all. So far, I don’t even see his single charting on Mediabase as high as “Scattered” even with all the B&B promo. Con is awesome on that show, though.

Lu and Schmanda, I’m still a jellus h8er.

LBB, if you actually watch the clip, you’ll see that Ace did use the falsetto a couple of times, including the scream at the end of Dream On. LOL.

And Angelia, I agree Ace’s nerves got to him on the show (especially after it got to top 12). Too bad. I also think he got bad editing.

ETA: Thanks again for the vid, MJ. It’s so nice to see/hear a performance from Ace sans fangirly screams. ;-)

I loved watching this as Ace is adorable and I heart him too along with PJ !!!! Can’t wait to hear his album.

  18. 18 Den Sep 3rd, 2007 at 5:11 pm

Thanks for posting the video. Good to see others are happy about his appearance. He did a great job despite how completely bored I am of those songs. Really, really ready for the new music.

PS He still makes me smile. :wub_tb:

I agree. Perhaps as a human smoke detector, dog caller or interrogator at Guantanamo Bay. :wacko_tb:

Re: Ace’s falsetto… I love it. I also love his natural voice and he negotiates between the two quite well.

Speaking of falsetto, I’m taking a trip down memory lane. This is one of my all time favorite Idol performances (I’ve been watching since mid-way season 3).

Loved this vid, love ace’s falsetto and looking forward to the cd, still a cutie..

I had forgotten how great that song was PJ. Do you happen to know where I can get an mp3?

  23. 23 pj Sep 3rd, 2007 at 8:29 pm

OMG. I watched Father Figure and got the link to this after. Be afraid. Be very afraid. Love the song, but the juxtaposition… not so much.

Lu, I don’t know about the mp3. I’m a bad Ace fan. I’ll look into it, though :)

ETA: Been watching since midway since season four, I mean. I was counting back wrong. Another fave:

Okay, sorry if this off topic, but I’m going down memory lane and this was when I think Elliott crossed over from being a great singer to being a great singer and performer.

  25. 25 Lu Sep 3rd, 2007 at 8:58 pm

PJ: Totally agree with you. I think that was a big turning point for Elliott. I hope you can help with that mp3. I played it for my girls and they want me to get it on the ipod - stat! :)

I remember being absolutley blown away by Bo Bice when he sang that - great to see it again! Thanks for posting that!
