Aw, Ace. Beautiful as ever! LOL. It looks like he’s got a nice crowd there.

Ace’s CD is really great! The crowds are loving him! He is so good to his fans! Love ya, Ace!

Um, yummy. That’s really all I have to say to that. I want to think of something more profound to comment, but strangely, I cannot.

The videos aren’t showing up for me!!! :cry_tb:

IIRC I used to like Ace during his season (what I watched of it. VERY casual viewer before AI7), and yet I’m very meh about him now.
Guess striking on the iron while it’s still hot can’t be underestimated. Hopefully I’m in the minority and his career will take off nicely.

Ace is awesome. You redeem me will be going to hot ac and ac stations sometime in the future. Not sure when. That song is just beautiful.

Now where have i read that it is a law that ab idol contestant has to put out a cd right away. yeah they may have to rebuild what they had but Aces cd is awesome and is well worth the wait. Give it a try. If you like prince young money has a prince vibe (hard to tell on the video) and is great. Fast life is kind of a 70’s throwback. Hopefully is is just starting his career and it will build nicely.

Darn it Ace please guest star on FNL…but before you do give me some notice have to prepare the paddles for pj..

  8. 8 Linny Jul 7th, 2008 at 8:01 pm

OMG, poporange. I so agree. I’ve been Ace’s fan from the beginning and I still am one of the loyal, strong ones. I have visions of him on FNL - footballer that he is. How can I get to TPTB and let them know they’re missing out on a big draw for the show. Ace and Tim Riggins in uniform. I need the defrib now!!!

Seriously, the CD is damm good. Please, guys, give him a listen. Each song is better than the last. There is really some good material here and you can tell that Ace worked his butt off during the last two years. He’s really matured as a person and a songwriter.

Thanks, MJ, for posting the videos! The CD release party is a week away!

Just some little tidbits abut his cd that maybe people who didnt follow him after ai might want to know. Ace said he used no protools on his cd. Not for the instruments or his voice. He wanted the sound that you hear when coming to his concert to be the same as the cd.

Also the reason it took him so long. according to him and I have no reason to not beleive him. AI wanted to keep him. But he did not know where he was at musically or what kind of album he wanted to make. So he kept putting them off saying he wanted to do acting so they would leave him alone. Contract expired and he was then free to together a list of people he wanted to work with. Cd has been done. He had a deal with S curve but they kep having problems with their distributor emi and something happened with them and Ace. so he had to go and find another distributor. Now it is Universal. Desmond child split the cost of the cd with ace. Ace said this cd probably cost more then any record label would of thrown at him

Pop and Linny, let me wave my fangirl self. Don’t mention Riggins and Ace in the same paragraph. It’s just too much! LOL

Well, I am going to download from iTunes next Tuesday! I can’t wait. :-)

I liked Ace a lot during Season 5. I just don’t like the image that he has gone with lately. What happened to his clean cut image? I think he has sold out on the “Sex sells” image. His Addicted video seemed to sort of cross the line for me and I am not fond of the wife beater tshirt. I am just disappointed because he seems to have gone the way of sexing it up like Katharine McPhee. I will keep an open mind though and give his CD a try.

Hmm… I think Ace has always played up his sex appeal a bit. He wore a black wife beater just like the one in the picture at one stop on the AI 5 tour. Plus, I imagine it was hot in TN that day. ;-) I certainly don’t think a “sexy image” changes all the charitable stuff he does, which is one of the reasons I respect him. The music business is tough. I say use what you have. If it were all style and no substance, I wouldn’t be a fan. YMMV.

I understand from a live chat (I didn’t attend), but the song “Addiction” is really about one of his brother’s who is dealing with one. The relationship part is a metaphor, I guess.

  13. 13 JP Jul 7th, 2008 at 9:35 pm

Actually, Mac, if you were to see Ace in concert now his performance style is much less sexy and flirtatious than it was on the Season Five AI Tour.

I agree that his video was super sexy, but he was trying to depict an addiction which is what the girl in it represented.

I’ve pre-ordered my Ace CD from iTunes because it comes with a couple of extra tracks. I think if you buy it at Target you get a 20-minute DVD with some behind-the-scenes footage. I might have to pick up one of those too. ;)

“You Redeem Me” is Ace’s second single and it has been climbing the charts according to the Mediabase statistics that MJ posts every Monday. It’s a really beautiful song. You can listen to a clean version of it at www.acemusic.com

Thanks, MJ, for posting this Ace footage! I can’t wait to see him next week at the Mohegan Sun.

Just listened to the clips from Ace’s cd, really really good.
Especially loved “You redeem me”, his voice sounds fab on that one, Ace is a sweetheart, hoping for his success :happy_tb:

Hmm… I think Ace has always played up his sex appeal a bit.

Poor boy can’t help it PJ. He’s impossibly good looking. I suppose he could try and wear a turtleneck - but he’s in TN in July - it’s pretty much too hot to perform in much more than he’s wearing. Ace doesn’t need to try and sex it up like McPhee - he oozes sex appeal.

That being said, I also think he’s a fantastic guy with a kind and charitable heart and a true humanitarian.

I like what I’ve heard of the cd so far, and I’ve got my pre-order in. Ace was my 7 year old’s season 5 fave, so we’re looking forward to giving his cd a lot of airtime on the way to and from summer camp :)

Ace is sexy??? Huh. I hadn’t noticed!!! :wub_tb:

Ex-”Idols” Young and Lewis take indie route

    RETURN TO ROOTS

After Young’s run on the show, he says he separated himself from the “Idol” machine and declined initial offers that came his way. Having worked with Brian McKnight prior to the show, Young wanted to return to his R&B and urban roots and sought out Child’s help. “He wrote the rock (songs) that I grew up with,” he says. “I thought in order to show who I am musically, it would be perfect to have Desmond bring that rock production aspect, and I’m able to bring (my) urban influences.”

Together they split the finances and wrote more than 50 songs, 11 of which made the final cut. Young is a writer on seven of the album’s tracks, including “The Letter,” about breaking up with a girl over fan mail, and “Fast Life,” a “late-’70s throwback with live horns.” Songwriter Diane Warren contributed the balled “You Redeem Me…”

I wasn’t a big fan of Ace’s when he was on Idol, though I adored his version of Father Figure. I pretty much thought he was a phony who was using his good looks to get ahead. Then I met him - quite by accident walking down a hallway after one of the idols’ concerts two years ago. He was so very nice, warm, and funny. I instantly changed my opinion of him and he became a favorite of mine. I’ve met him twice since, which reinforced my feelings about him. He is a wonderful human being and I wish him all the luck in the world.
