Adam Lambert and Kris Allen Speak with the Press, Plus Song Spoilers
Adam Lambert and Kris Allen, gearing up for tonight’s final, spoke with the press yesterday from outside the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.
Both Kris and Adam aren’t having any of the culture war nonsense the press is trying to drum up, stressing that the competition should be about singing.
In other news, a FOX 5 reporter spilled the beans about what favorite Idol performances they’d be singing tonight. For Adam, it will be “Mad World” with “a twist.” and Kris is still deciding between “Heartless” and “Falling Slowly” but is leaning towards the latter

I’ve already seen Adam do three different versions of this song, but OMG I had no idea this one existed! Love it (the bit about the microphone is hilarious!). And holy hannah at the baritone! I knew Adam has a lovely lower register, but I had no idea he was able to get that low! What an amazing, amazing range that boy has, and the way he is able to improvise (and then improvise again) continues to impress me.
IMHO, for a show that the public votes on, deliberately writing a coronation song with *anyone* specific in mind as opposed to someone else, would be idiotic. Not only does it have giant potential for trainwreck, but it would be pretty much like shooting yourself in the foot (hand?) as a writer. Having said that, we ARE talking about Kara “Studio 57/Saturday Night Live” DioGuardi, so anything’s possible!
Hehe! True. Although, a lot of Canadians hate Celine. I happen to like her, but IMO her voice is a little ‘thin’, and her Vegas stint (complete with the uber-tan and platinum blonde hair) was way OTT in a big bad way. I think she ‘jumped the shark’ there. Time to bring on some NEW giant talent in Canada, methinks. We’ve only had one female Idol in Canada so far, so I think it’s time, and if she were big and bold like Adam I would totally love it; so would Canada as a whole – we do love strange and OTT things (see Jacob Hoggard, lol).
Watching this video gives me the warm fuzzies.
You can see they really do get along and they are ‘real’ friends. I mean you know they all say “oh yeah we get along” and “we are such good friends” and you know that sometimes its just words and they don’t say what they really want to say. Them joking with each other as if they were just hanging out is just too cute.
I have been a major Adam supporter from the beginning but have liked Kris too. The finale is going to be great! Who better to lose to than a friend. But then again there really isn’t any losers here. One will be named the 2009 American Idol but they both will walk away as winners and go on to amazing careers and they both deserve it.
Now if only I can speed up time because the waiting is killing me!!!!!

Funny you should mention that. I was chatting with the ladies at work and one in particular, who I would have thought was an Adam fan, is very put off by his professional experience (“he got a break already”I know.) and the fact that he’s being over-hyped to the high heavens. She thinks he’s talented but is totally loving cutie-pie Kris (she was also an Allison fan). She said, “But – if Adam sings Elvis, I’ll HAVE to vote for him…”
So, for a certain demographic, Adam would probably win himself some fans or at least some votes if he does Elvis.
