Adam Lambert: “If You Stay Tuned, We’ll Have All the Answers You’re Looking For”
UPDATE: Since I posted this article yesterday, there’s more evidence that the Rolllingstone cover article is going to happen. This item in the New York Post quotes an RS source “that Lambert will be coming out officially on the next cover of Rolling Stone.” and in this hilarious interview with Michelle Collins of Best Week Ever, Adam answers “maybe” with some side glances to his publicist when she asks him about he rumors… Meanwhile, big-mouth Kara DioGuardi has gotten her self some press by telling the gals at the View, that she has no doubts that Adam is out.
Adam Lambert may finally answer the questions about his sexual orientation that have been dogging him since the post-Idol finale press tour began last week.
“If you stay tuned, we’ll have all the answers you’re looking for,” answered Adam in response to a question from Elvis Duran in a Z100 radio interview this morning, “Very very very soon, everybody is going to find out what they need to find out.”
That explains Ryan Seacrest’s mysterious twitter today, “What up adam and kris! crushing it on the today show! Btw adam will address the sexuality speculation soon. They are both superstars!” Oh Ryan, such an insider. NOT.
There’s a rumor going around that Adam’s got a cover story in the next issue of Rollingstone magazine. The speculation is he’ll “come out” via the article.
Throughout his entire Idol journey, Adam has never attempted to hide who he is. Do we really need him to spell it out for us? Seriously, the bulletin is unnecessary as far as I’m concerned. But whatevs. Maybe the press will shut up about it already if he finally admits the obvious.
ETA: I just had another thought. EW’s Adam B. Vary hit Adam up with the sexual preference question the night of the finale. If Adam had been forthcoming, his answer would have overshadowed everything else–including Kris Allen’s win. Adam stealing Kris’s thunder would have been totally uncool. So, journos, how about allowing Adam and Kris to focus on Idol as they make their post-Idol media rounds? ‘Cause the minute Adam ‘fesses up, the gay thing is all you peeps will talk about.

The reality is that the stature of any artist in the record industry now and forever has been judged by the number of albums an artist HAS sold and/or making groundbreaking original music. Along with how many concert tickets that artist can sell.
I don’t think they give out Grammies for innovative arrangement of cover songs in a reality competition though indeed there are best selling artists that do primarily covers like a Michael Buble or Josh Groban or Matt Dusk.
ya they do!
I added “in a reality competition”, bwah.
Because how many actual downloads are Kris and Adam getting. I have seen the numbers so far. It looks good on iTunes for now but those numbers do not a hit single make in the real world. [Check out Kanye West who just reached 3 million paid downloads of his version of "Heartless"]
The truer test is you put out that cover single in the real radio world on the same playing field as the rest of the artists out there and then I will concede greatness. Even then Idol winners and runners up still have a leg up in many respects and they also have a disadvantage as there are certain radio stations who will refuse to play the song of an Idol winner, runner up or contestant, ever or until they have sold so many units the program director can’t say no anymore. However that tends to be the rock stations who likely have a limited audience compared to Top 40, Pop and Adult Contemporary. However rock is a odd genre in that many rock bands especially metal don’t get much radio play and yet they still sell millions of albums and sell out their tours. Loyal fanbases who probably don’t bother listening to radio in the first place.
ETA “No Boundaries” may chart but come on, that baby ain’t winning no Grammies, no matter who was singing it. If it does then the music industry is dead. And Cook and Daughtry fans will be shocked to learn that Adam is considered the first true rock singer to come from Idol.
Yup you. You got it!!
I remember on Larry king, Adam was smiling and watching the person whoever was talking intently, exxept Michael! the second Michael started to talk, Adam’s smile just disappeared. I thought “well, apparently, they are not good friends.”
Neil Lambert’s comments also suggested Michael and Danny might not be too comfortable or genuinely nice towards Adam.
so I’m guessing Michael could be the one.
it’s crazy I don’t even know what is it that everyone is talking about. but I bet it’s Michael or Danny, lol!
I sure hope Adam doesn’t feel the need to come out in RS. I would be HUGELY disappointed if he did. The only person for whom his sexuality should be an issue is the person he’s sleeping with!! For all others, get out of his bedroom and leave the man in peace…..
This whole issue reminds me of how it went down for another talented male singer during his career in the 80s and 90s. George Michael played “cat & mouse” with the press his entire career, and while those close to him always knew he was gay and he never tried to hide it, he was unwilling to ever give the press those three words they longed to hear: “I Am Gay.” Then in ‘98 he was entrapped by the Beverly Hills police and forced to say what everyone already knew was true.
To this day, GM is massively popular in Europe but has only a small following in the US. But whenever he is mentioned in the press it’s always “Gay singer George Michael.” That is his identifying moniker. It is apparent that the press can’t wait for the declaration from their “prey,” but then when they get it they never let it die.
For those who feel that Adam should just come out and declare his sexuality and then the press will leave him alone are being idealistic and naiive. He will forever be labeled “Gay singer Adam Lambert.”
IMO, Adam should continue to live his life as he sees fit and perhaps take a lesson from GM and allow the speculation to continue as he grows his career. If he ends the speculation this early in the game then I daresay he is not really the rebel he professes to be. He’s got the press lapping at his heels right now and can keep it interesting by continuing his clever one-liner deflections in response to questions that are no one’s business but his and the person he’s sleeping with.
CaliforniaGirl, totally agree.
Asian fan here!
I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t understand why Americaà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s focus is not more on Adamà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s singing instead of his sexuality à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ which is only an issue of his private lifestyle. I do worry a bit and am not sure an open statement would or would not harm Adamà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s singing career which has just started. Adam is great and amazing with all his performances! I am very frustrated that iTunes does not allow downloads by international fans! Thank you very much for this site as I can see so many interviews and videos of Adam after AI which I did not expect. After reading and watching all these interviews, I like Adam as a talented, best singer and artist as much as I like his great personality. It is not easy in the real world to always look positive, remain true to your own, stand firm against negative comments, and take all critics with a sense of humor. I wish Adam a huge success in his singing career and turn into an international star!!!!
Many, many artists have reached SuperStar status by singing covers.
Unless Sinatra, Streisand, Garland, etc. don’t count.
I don’t really want to compare Adam to George Michael. I think GM is mainly known now for his bathroom antics and drug issues. I’m hopping Adam doesn’t go there.
Add me to that list.
The fact that Adam came in 2nd in a reality show designed for “middle America” proves that there are plenty of fans out there who couldn’t care less about his personal life. Like I said before, it was no secret to anyone who Googles. You can’t compare him to Freddie or (god forbid) Clay because he’s Adam and this is 2009 (post privacy era).
Adam transcends boundaries because of his talent and natural born charisma. I am a “member” of a Facebook fan site, and he already has a lot of fans from Latin America. I’m a teacher and my Hispanic students love him. Isn’t the Latino culture supposed to be conservative? He’s definitely got the buzz and Rolling Stone is gonna ride that wave just like everybody else.
From what I read, he (Adam’s brother) commented that he couldn’t stand Sarver. He was referring to the “ungodly” video. He said that, to him, it seemed like “Gokey was just joking.”
However, he was not nice about Danny as a contestant…calling him lame. Not very nice for a contestant’s family member to go off on other contestants as performers…imo.
Hi all–
Just returned from the dearlydeparted tour through L.A. which is fabulous! The tour guide, a fabulous gay man who I adore, has friends who know Adam and says that Adam is a 100% openly gay man who his friends see often at gay bars.
This confirms the obvious to me. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE ADAM and wish him all the best in his career!
Karen
Did I offend all of you? Where did everyone go? I am not bashing Adam, I am HUGE fan and supporter!
