Adam Lambert Impressive List of Collaborators
There’s been a ton of buzz about Adam Lambert working in the studio with Lady Gaga producer, RedOne. But in the past few weeks, information had been leaking out in bits in pieces about the producers and songwriters working with Adam to create his “Queen-inspired” pop/rock/electronica album.
Last week, I told you about songwriting sessions with Kara DioGuardi. Other songwriters reportedly working with Adam are, David Hodges ( Evanescence, David Archuleta, Kelly Clarkson), Greg Wells (Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson), and OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder (Leona Lewis, Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks).
On Wednesday, Adam twittered about a writing session with Sam Sparrow (UK hit, “Black and Gold”), and a flurry of tweets revealed Ferras (“Hollywood’s Not America”), Jared Scharff (SNL guitarist) and Ross Golan (Glaciar Hiking) were writing for Adam. Ferras also co-wrote for Adam with Desmond Child (Aerosmith, Bon Jove, Kelly Clarkson) and Lauren Christy (Christina Aguilera, Jason Mraz, Britney Spears as part of The Matrix)
And, Entertainment Weekly reveals that Adam recently met with producer Linda Perry (Christina Aguilera, Pink, James Blunt).

Awesome Seacrest radio interview! Thanks sooooo much for the link. I have to get over this Adam crush, it’s interfering with my entire life
Here’s a new link, audio still slightly off, though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVsVoWA6GKM
I’m curious, does someone have a link to the master list of Kris’s collaborations? I can remember some of the ones discussed, but not all of them. I know that not all of these people’s songs will actually end up on their album, but it’s fun to think about anyway.
At this point, no matter how great their collaborators are, a lot of it seems to come down to their personal taste in music. David Cook, for example, made really good music while on Idol–but his pre-Idol album was very Nickelback, so then his AI album ended up being Nickelback (IMO, of course). Adam and Kris don’t seem to have any really unfortunate influences, as far as I can see, so hopefully that will be reflected in their albums. We shall see.
Here’s the latest from Hi-Fi:
Hi Fi responded to Adam’s statement this morning, saying, “As we’ve already outlined, releasing this music was always the plan. That plan was changed by 19 Recordings after Adam won America over with his extraordinary talent. It’s a shame that his management/record company choose to disavow their client’s work and discredit him as a songwriter. As an independent company whose role it is to help put this out, we at Hi Fi think this is an absolute slap in the face to Wilshire Records. That small indie music company, run by an experienced music producer, Malcolm Welsford, thrives on finding, nurturing and championing new talent, and now they find themselves at a tremendous potential loss. Adam’s songwriting partner, Monte Pittman now finds himself at a tremendous potential loss. Via the press, in the words of the musician they dedicated so much time and money to, they are being told that their work with Adam should never see the light of day.”
Hi Fi’s statement continues: “We apologize for what has become a tiresome tit for tat, particularly on a day that we mourn the loss of a truly original, game-changing entertainer, but unfortunately, each statement released in Adam’s name contains a different story. We remain steadfast in our assertion that we seek only to share the music Adam wrote, according to plan, so his fans know the depth of his talent and see that he will be handsomely rewarded for his work.”
Hi Fi claims that it has a signed recording contract with Adam dated Feb. 12, 2008. The label has already made one of the CD’s tracks, “Want,” available on iTunes.
They are really starting to annoy me.
First of all that TV Guide video? CUTEST. KRADAM. EVER!! When Kris puts his arm around Adam? Great comic timing and a killer Kris moment. Hilarious and adorable.
Okay, getting back to the whole tedious Hi Fi mess. I read this on another board and it makes sense. We, as fans, should appeal to Hi Fi from a professional, business perspective (i.e., not railing against them like defensive fans, but stating a logical case in very cogent terms). If we make an appeal for them to please delay the release of their album until after Adam’s RCA release, it would ultimately benefit everyone.
Why it benefits Hi Fi? They’re in a PR nightmare and this back and forth continues to stir the waters and they are seriously pissing off their talent and Adam’s core fan base (i.e., their key target market).
Now, if they waited until Christmas and reworked the tracks, Adam would likely be happy, I’m presuming Monty would be happier (haven’t heard from him, but it’s an educated guess). And his fans could get behind that.
HF would ride in the jet stream of Adam’s media blitz that is going to occur with the release of his RCA debut, courtesy of RCA (as opposed to having NO promotion if they release first and the incurring negative backlash).
They would be taking the moral high ground which could be played up for PR’s sake and again get Adam’s fans behind the album, as opposed to boycotting it.
By giving us Adam Redux, they will be heroes as opposed to villains (and uphill climb at this point, I know) and they would have a better product all the way around. Not to mention they will pick up the non AI fans that Adam will invariably reach with the promotion that will come from his debut album.
It’s a win-win for everyone, most of all Hi Fi, who seems to think they have to get the jump on RCA, but they’re jumping into a pile of shit.
What do you guys think? I have the general email address, but don’t want to start a campaign on MJ’s if it’s not appropriate.
Of course! Adam was always going pop, he said that himself!
this is a great list of people. I’m really hoping some beats leak soon. lol
To be totally accurate, Adam has said that his album will be rock at the core with a lot of pop/dance elements to it. So, pop/rock or something like that, which could be great.
She won’t let you anyway.
I’d keep it on the other board.
Me- I’m over them.
They screwed up.
Rock/pop yes. But never heavy metal rock.
I kinda like the rockier side of Adam more than the dance/pop side, but that’s because I hate Lady Gaga and dance music in general. Adam’s lucky I still like him and will buy his cd anyways… hehe. =)
Well, first you would have to explain to them what that is. And even with a map, they couldn’t find it.
Very nice thoughts, Susan M, but do not waste your time. The fanbase stopped HiFi cold, Round I, by not buying. Whatever happened that brought the Citizen Vein stuff into play after that, kind of vaguely interesting soap opera detail. But not important.
This is over. Done. The Michael Jackson media shift completed it. Even HiFi know’s that, you can read it in their slightly changed tone, only a couple of snidey asides this time.
And Adam’s “Can’t Say” on Ryan Seacrest’s show sealed all core fanbase doubts forever. No one else cares. Even the fanbase has moved on to tour time.
Any correspondence with HiFi is just inviting them to use you. They wouldn’t mind some non-paid forum representation. A group trying to be diplomatic would be useful to them. Save your kind thoughts for important issues out in the world. Adam needs no protecting or help anymore. Job’s done. He’s fine.
It would be nice if Adam fans just let HIFIgate die. No more comments when there is a HIFI related piece on E or Access or TMZ or EW etc. No emails, no comments on you tube, no comments on Itunes. Just ignore it….HiFi will get the message much quicker that way.
Oh no, definitely not. But it sounds like his music will have a lot of Bowie/Queen influences, which sounds perfect for him.
Thanks FifthHouseSun, definitely good points and I you’re right the MJ media blitz totally takes all bets off the table. I work in a media company and the sad, sick joke yesterday was, this was the best day ever for the governor of South Carolina, who was being held over the spit and then suddenly, it was, “Um … bye!”
Believe me, I would never shill for HF, but it just seems like such a common-freaking sense solution. I am the editor of a business magazine in an extremely lucrative market and I get pitches all day long from companies begging for press and these idiots do this? For what? It makes no sense. Appealing to their business sense was idealized, for sure, but I just hate the thought of them spinning this against Adam.
Susan M., notice how Laura of Dish of Salt’s necklines get lower when she interviews Adam? Even though she knows that’s useless. And she giggles like a teenager and the microphone practically shorts out from the drool. Fangirl trumps Biz Exec everytime. Biologically it’s Lizard Brain versus Frontal Cortex. The old stem wins. That’s why you’re more sensitive to the mean “spinning” — which red alerts “survival, survival” than the fact that it failed, which is cool analysis, and you can relax. And Adam’s flirting all over Ms. Dish, and never taking his eyes off her, besides the fun, is he knows, what you, especially, and everyone in business anywhere knows, Free Media is Lifeblood.
Friday afternoon is always dump the bad news day. With Michael Jackson media blitz, lots of stuff getting released. Mark Sanford, for instance, just insanely compared himself to King David being how say we say, interested in Bathsheba, and still, eventually, getting back to his throne. (Leaving out the ravaged her, got her pregnant, had her husband killed part. Or noticing the crazy hubris of suggesting he was a David and/or King.)
Keep your powder dry. Sounds like you’re in a good position to affect all kinds of good change in the world.
Yup. Thankfully Adam won’t be into metal; that would just be weird.
He mentioned in this weird Habbo (maybe?) interview (whatever that is, but it was a bunch of computer characters watching comp-Adam, who looked more like Elvis, get interviewed) that he liked the new Peaches album, which I love. My musical tastes really vary, but I love electronic stuff, so that makes me happy. I hope it is just done right. If not, I’d rather have straight dance-pop like Gaga.
I listen to a lot of music, so genre-meshing doesn’t seem so weird–it’s quite the norm now, in my opinion. I am mainly curious as to how rocky the dance music is.
One songwriter who mentioned writing for Adam on Twitter was Aimee Mayo, who is actually a country songwriter. I think she mentioned she met with Tedder, but she really seems excited and wants to write for Adam which is just weird since she writes the one style he said he doesn’t do. haha
I think I am most excited about Sparro since I could see that sort of thing for Adam. I reserve judgment in regards to Kara since Adam seems excited about it, but then I think of No Boundaries. Poor Kara, churning out hits during her career but she finally got her face connected to NB.
FifthHouseHouse, too funny! I literally just posted on the thread (slowly learning to navigate, but MJ keeps threading faster than I can jump) about Saltzman. Every entertainment reporter on the planet turns into a liquified fangirl in Adam’s presence. I can’t knock ‘em because I seriously doubt I’d be any different (it’s a sickness …). I’ll have to go back to my David and Bathsheba Bible-lore, I think I’ve forgotten many of the deeper themes from CCD class. Or college Religion courses.

Wow! That truly is quite the impressive list of collaborators. Am I dreaming (or creating a new rumor), or did Adam hint on one of the interviews posted today, that we may get to hear little teasers here and there of the albums before they’re released?
I am beside myself waiting for Adam’s release. I can’t imagine it not being amazing. I’m also looking forward to Kris’s and Allison’s.
I can’t wait to see what they’re going to name Adam’s album and what the cover is going to look like. Always nice to have something in life to look forward to.
