The night America has been waiting for is almost here! The SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE two-night season finale airs Tuesday, Dec. 15 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) and Wednesday, Dec. 16 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX, and some of the year’s hottest performers ‘“ including AMERICAN IDOL’s Adam Lambert ‘“ are set to take the stage. Lambert will sing his latest track, ‘Whataya Want From Me,’ in his first appearance on the network since the AMERICAN IDOL season finale in May.
Adam Lambert captured the attention of the nation this year during the eighth season of AMERICAN IDOL. Throughout his much-celebrated IDOL journey, Lambert surprised and impressed the judges every week with his takes on various musical genres. His out-of-this-world vocal range and unique musical style has helped Lambert conquer the Billboard charts with multiple debuts on the Hot 100 and the Hot Digital Songs charts. His first album, ‘For Your Entertainment’ (19 Recordings/RCA), recently debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Charts with 198,469 albums sold in the first week.
Tuesday’s final performance show will feature the ultimate showdown between the Top 6 finalists as they compete to impress the judges and capture America’s vote. Immediately following the performance show, the phone lines will open and viewers will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite remaining finalists. Then, tune in the following night for one of the most-anticipated television events of the fall.
Wednesday’s two-hour grand finale will feature surprise guests and special performances by this season’s Top 20. At the end of the celebration, host Cat Deeley will reveal America’s vote and America’s Favorite Dancer will be crowned live before millions of television viewers. The winner will dance off with a cash prize of $250,000 and will be featured on the cover of the March 2010 issue of Dance Spirit magazine.
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE was created by Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe and comes from 19 Entertainment Ltd. and dick clark productions. The series is executive-produced by Simon Fuller, Nigel Lythgoe and Barry Adelman.

Big Add for WWFM in Montreal, #2 station. Makes 5 adds today. I was hoping for more but maybe by the end of day.
Actually, that’s not a good number. He’s going to have a drop of about 80% over last week, and other artists didn’t have that big a drops from last week to this one, so it’s not just everyone. And not just that SuBo is inexplicable.
Okay, so heterosexual groping is “lewd.” I get that.
But homosexual kissing is “lewd,” why?
Notice how, in the heat of the moment when people don’t have time to edit their responses, the idea that, yeah, it was the male-on-male kissing that seemed lewd to them just kind of pops out, lol. Nobody wants to admit that they feel this way any more (and I said “feel,” not “think”). … But it seems to me that this spontaneous quote makes it pretty clear that many folks do.
Of course, now I’ll find out that this isn’t really what any of the women said, lol!

Some did drop 80 and some dropped 70. No big deal. He’s way over 200,000 albums sold in only 2 weeks and that is good. By the time the sale reports are in he may be halfway to gold already.
He’s only going to sell fewer than 50,000 copies of FYE? That sounds terrible, compared to the 189,000 last week.
He better get a lot more adds for WWFM (which he seems to be getting). At least he has some good TV gigs coming up (along with Z-100 Jingle Ball emcee gig). And maybe SYTYCD *will* help move some more copies of the album. I think there’s a decent chance WWFM will go Top 40 this week…will that help?

When you’ve gotta go, you’ve gotta go…
it’s a bad drop, but it still will get him close to halfway to gold in two weeks, which is a pretty good sign that you can get to gold eventually, all other things being equal.
And Adam’s radio play really hasn’t been going on enough to stabilize his sales (if that’s going to happen.) When Kris’s song was this new on radio there were a lot of complaints that nothing good was happening with his single sales, for example, (his album wasn’t out yet. … But with his radio play spreading to more cities over the past few weeks and more people around the country probably hearing LLWD repeatedly now, both the single sales and the album sales are stabilizing…. That’s a possibility for Adam, too, even though we can’t say for sure that it’ll happen yet.
Its all in how you look at things. one more sale will get him closer to gold. No one will care if he got there in 3 weeks or 3 months, just as long as he gets there. Once we get to gold we reach for plantinum. Positive thinking equals positive results!! lol
Of course it would be great if he keept selling 100,000 albums a week but its not realistic. I do think with all of this week’s appreances, his sales could go up next week so we can get to gold faster!! lol
This is pretty much in line with what I thought he would do….i figured he would have a huge drop, sell around 30-50K this week, especially with WWFM just starting out….its not great, its not terrible….but its fine…he is well on his way
If the number keeps incoming at the same rate, it will end up at 53,000, a 73% drop, but will make FYE almost half gold. If the later number turns out to be better like what happened last week, it may have sold 55,000, a 72% drop and already half gold in two week.

They are playing WWFM on Z-100. They asked the caller if she was a Glambert . She said yes. Then he asked if she was a Claymate first, and she said, Nope, just a Glambert…lol

These drop-offs are pretty large, tho, aren’t they? John Mayer’s surprises me; I have just started hearing his single. How long did it take Cook to go gold and then platinum? Just curious.

Even if he only sold 40,000 last week, that still takes him nearly halfway to gold. That’s perfectly fine for two weeks in, when your radio play hasn’t really kicked in at all yet.
When LLWD was just beginning to climb the charts, there was lots of consternation about it not affecting sales of the single at all (album wasn’t out yet), but then when the song had been out there a while, and more people had had a chance to hear it, they did start buying the single, and now it looks as if his album sales are stabilizing too. … It just takes time, is all.
Plus, Adam doesn’t just have WWFM out there. He also has the FYE video. If that can climb the chart and hang on for a while at VH1, then that will also help album sales eventually.
None of this stuff is instantaneous. People have to have a little experience of your music before they feel like buying.
Well at least Nigel isn’t pimping Kris’ or Adam’s performances like he did Katy Holmes’ WTF moment last season.
People seem to get DWTS and SYTYCD confused. DWTS has live cover music/singers and for some guest singers the pro dancers will come out and dance. Not always – Shakira had her own drumming ladies for one of her songs this past season.
For SYTYCD the music is the artist recording. The guest performer doesn’t have to have anyone dancing – One Republic come to mind for an act that didn’t have dancers when they performed on the Results Show (although Mia had done a beautiful piece to Apologize the previous season).
With the constant stream of new albums releasing at this time of year and people’s preoccupation with all things holiday sales drops for any artists don’t surprise me. If he falls into selling about 50k a week that’s pretty solid.
Appearances like SYTYCD will help keep interest in album ticking along and he is such a great fit for a show like that. Hope he has some dancers performing along with him singing.
Susan Boyle may still be #1 but if you look at it in context her sales drop off was pretty massive also (in 75% range I think) – but then that’s probably because everyone who still plays music on CD players has already bought her album!
I don’t remember the exact numbers, but when we extrapolated the first 36-37% from the first week, Adam was projected to come in around 150,000. He ended up coming in at 198,000. I’m not sure which stores traditionally report first (Walmart? But not the urban stores? Also, someone said the first day’s numbers tend to favor Country artists?) but I wouldn’t be surprised if Adam’s percentage of decline improves in the second and third wave of HDD projections.

Yeah, that Katie Holmes debacle (lip syncing to Singing in the Rain). Then when people on Twitter criticized Nigel for her stupid performance after he pimped her so hard when the SYTYCD contestants could have done a far better job (granted, it was part of the foundation he, Adam Shankman, and I think Katie co-founded to help students with arts opportunities), he snapped back on twitter and threatened to block the people who criticized him. It was one hot mess. It’s better to just perform, and I will always remember One Republic’s performance b/c it was for Apologize , which is a beautiful song (and I *liked* Kris’s performance Top 2), but, unlike Kris, Ryan Tedder was pitchy most of the time.
So hopeful for good numbers for FYE; this is a great album (have I mentioned that in the past?) and I hope it gets the exposure it deserves.
