    I think I Love Lucy.

So many on here have taught me so much.

  • Cate:

Ok, sure. Adam has a limitless range. He can sing any note ever imagined. When he appears not to be singing it’s only because he’s humming notes only dogs can hear.

    ARF.

  • LVanna:

Whether he has a limitless range or not, that is what Cavallo actually said ‘“ keeping the quote straight.

I think 4 octaves is incorrect. I read that he has an incredible 72 note range: therefore wouldn’t that be a 9 octave range? Sounds almost impossible to me but he is supposedly one of a very few countertenors in the world who consistently hits those high notes that some doubters call “screaming.”

I’m going to check this out somewhere. I believe it might have been MasterClass Lady who mentioned the 9 octave range.

  • Janus:

Oh this is exciting’ ¦I love going to DDD music forum and read their take on Adam and all the rock singers. It is quite educational and informative.

Yeah, it’s in their “Small Topics/Adam Lambert” thread. I don’t know why, but that title always makes me chuckle. ;)

  • flashus:

AI8 is over as far as competition goes. What each idol is NOW able to obtain should be on talent and not left to the luck of random voting. Adam is about as talented and awesome as they come. He will be an international star. No doubt in my mind. An example: My husband is in Angola right now working on a project with a slew of engineers..African, Portuguese, etc. My husband was to conduct a very important meeting today with interpretors present. When he arrived everyone was sitting around the table speaking and he couldn’t understand what they were saying except…yep, you guessed it…the name Adam Lambert and USA Rock Star. They were a bit standoffish for 4 weeks now but after my husband told him what he knew of Adam they now treat him like family (at least for today). lol Oh yes, Adam will be an internatonal star.

  • smokeyvera:

Wow. Three threads. ADD time. I firmly believe he has shown us he can…TPTB have seen the light and $$$$ in Adam and they are playing it to the hilt for all’s he worth. He is definitely worth it and I am so happy and proud of him.

  • BestAI:

I think any publicity Adam receives right now benefits Kris, and Kris’s benefits Adam. At this point it keeps both of them in peoples radar. That may not be true in the future, but for now I think it still is.

I don’t see how Kris’s publicity benefits Adam. All the articles written about Adam recently regarding his album sales had nothing to do with Kris. All the publicity from his TfM clip had nothing to do with Kris. Today’s publicity had nothing to do with Kris. Adam creates his own publicity, and he doesn’t need anyone’s help other than his own buzz.

I’m not a musical expert, but I don’t think this is actually humanly possible?

IIRC, people have theorized based on past and present performances between 3 and 4 octaves. So Robert is simply confirming he’s at the very top end of that guessed-at range.

ETA: It’s funny though, when he’s been asked about his range, Adam has shrugged off the question, basically saying that’s not something he’s focused on. He’s more of an instinctive singer, he seems to care more about how it feels for him and the feelings it invokes in others rather than tracking the limits of his range. That said, it’s really nice for those of us who Adam’s voice just DOES THINGS to us (sometimes I think it’s actually physiological, considering the number of people who respond so strongly in exactly the opposite way) to have a respected profession praise his talent.

  • adamisthemanfan:

YES. This is all very exciting!! Question though: when he said his single would be “glammy” was that just a description or is that the literal title of the song?
Cant wait to REALLY hear the music.
Regarding his voice….its fucking disgusting how GREAT of a singer he is and how wide his range is..in the performance with Kiss on the AI finale, the last note he hit was pretty high, even higher than the infamous “tenor high c” and I do mean Operatic tenor…I cant believe I read in some article from these so called “professional musicians” and “directors” in which one of these ppl actually said he was a Baritone…I remember thinking, and am still thinking ‘what the hell were they smoking’ ? LOL
Countertenor voices like his are super rare these days…and there are none (that Ive seen) that can hit the notes he does in full voice…its unreal.

Flashus! Wow! To me for you that is so cool! I am getting giddier (or is that glitterier) by the minute.

  • JazzRocks:

I fully intend to keep all my eggs in one basket thank you. The Magic Unicorn Prince basket.

Congrats to all the nominees including Carrie & Daughtry, but today is definitely Adam Lambert Day. It’s been a long time coming and his amazingness is being recognized and celebrated. I’m joining the celebration.

This is so hilarious (halfie?) You are sharp.

Heh, don’t think it’s 9. 4 sounds about right. 3 is considered a good range for singers. I think Mariah is listed as having a 5 octave range but she has those really high notes (that’s called something I don’t remember right now, whistle voice?) and I am not sure it’s a continous range. Some females have that range (someone told me it 1/10 of all females) with really high notes that is not the head voice nor the cest voice (aka the whistle).

  • luvadamlambert:

    when are the ama’s

  • flashus:

Hi Luv…I think it is Nov. 22.

  • LVanna:

4 sounds about right. 3 is considered a good range for singers.

The “general” range for a tenor is C3 – C5. Therefore, isn’t it possible that Adam can sing higher due to the fact that he is a “countertenor?”

  • flashus:

Thanks to you, also, dhunken. That made it so much easier. I fail at computers.

  • LVanna:

    when are the ama’s

    November 22, I believe.

I just checked and this is correct. I think this is brilliant timing since the album drops 2 days later!

  • dhunken:

On the ET behind the scenes interview….I love that Adam acknowledged that being asked to perform on the AMA without even having an Album title or Single out is surprising and an amazing opportunity for him.

  • saga:

Therefore, isn’t it possible that Adam can sing higher due to the fact that he is a ‘countertenor?’

Not really good with these classical notations but someone said before that being a counter tenor somehow indicates a blended chest voice and falsetto, so I am not sure that it is an indication of range. A 4 octave (if that is what he has, maybe it is more 3.5?) range is VERY nice to have!

Personally I think it’s what you do with you range that’s important. I like both Adam and Billy Holiday.

Thanks to all who posted interviews and videos of today’s AMA’s. I was gone for a while and had a lot of catching up to do. I knew MJ would have the latest news!

  • iluvai:

    Congrats to Adam!!!

  • Hi everyone,Wow don’t know where to start catching up (3 threads bout Adam Lambert)…I’m so proud of you,ADAM!!!

  • girlygirl:

Too much going on today, between all the Adam news, plus the new single cover photo and the radio adds for Kris’ single that I’m not sure where to put this. But I saw over on gossipcandy.com that Adam told one of the people who interviewed him today that Strut was NOT going to be his first single.

    yongchavezLA

#Adam said Strut won’t be his 1st single, and TMF will come out on the 18th. Twas a vshort interview. More info later.about 8 hours ago from TwitterBerry

    # That’s TFM, of course, yikes.about 8 hours ago from TwitterBerry

(this is the same person who did one of the better in-depth interviews with Kris (complete with his imitations of Adam and Alsion) during the tour)

  • suebrody:

Yeah, no Strut. I bet it’s one of the three singles that Rob Cavallo mentioned today in his interview with Lyndsey (b/c I highly doubt that was random; nothing has been random to date).

  • Mtlfan:

Congrats Adam! Can’t wait to see this performance on the AMA! Glam rock yeah!!

  • iluvai:

I just listened to the interview with Ryan. All I can say is “Wow!!” This is why I love Adam Lambert the person! The guy is so classy and Oh yeah, the voice is heavenly.
