Snappsss! It’s a bubble tweet from Allison Iraheta and her new band!
Some of the members:
Priscilla Fire – Photo1, Photo2 – Website – Bass
Valerie Franco: Photo – Drums
David Immerman – Photo1, Photo2 – Guitar
Chicks representin’! Cool.
Update: I almost forgot! Allison recently tweeted that she recorded a version of “Friday I’ll Be Over U” in Spanish…

Very very excited that she has a mixed-gender band. And as a bass player, I’m very happy that the girls make up the rhythm section. I think an all-male band wouldn’t have been a good idea, and an all-female band would have appeared too gimmicky even if it wasn’t.
Also, it’s so exciting that the girls list their styles as punk / rock / soul / BLUES! And listening to “Valerie F-ing Franco”s songs on her Myspace, she plays a lot like Paramore’s Zac Farro, which is great news, because he has a fantastic sense for rhythmic flourishes.
I think they’re gonna rock up everything they do live. All this is extremely encouraging news.
While I have no quarrel with this comment, I wonder if this was because he was doing his AI-hired-gun thing. In other words, the people who play the AI tour, or a “spectacle tour” like Britney’s (on which he’s playing during November) are paid to play while staying totally in the background. Just look at the lighting on the AI tour — a lot of the time you can barely see that the band members are there. We know from David Cook’s comments last year that the performers can have their pay docked if they color outside the lines.
So, maybe this is just how he works — i.e. has to work — when on these tours, not necessarily on other kinds of tours. Or maybe he really is a dead fish.

Replying to Rub’s comments about Tim Stewart’s lack of swagger or stage presence…. I don’t guess you’ve seen any of his performances with 4th Avenue Jones, Infectious Grooves, Backstreet Boys, etc… That guy can be an animal on stage. You have to keep in mind these tour band musicians are there to help the Idols look and sound as good as possible – not to upstage them. Also, GREAT guitarists who can play any style of music are not a dime a dozen…
Right on the head there John. I would love to see a rhythm guitarist though, it would fill the rhythm section vibrantly. It leads me to wonder if Allison may have a role in playing rhythm. I would leave her handling the stage.
You maybe right. He wants to cash his full check. Now that you mention Cook, Tim has been doing this so long he may have forgotten how to be cool. lol
I didn’t know you play bass? I tip my hat to the time keeper. I think you have to be born to play rhythm. Its hereditary or something – it aint easy. This ladies can play hard, even Alli was impressed judging by her onslaught of tweets the other day. Encouraging news indeed.
Well he came alive when performing with Allison. Guess certain artists can bring out the wild side.
I know he is going to Australia to do the Britney tour in November.
Whats on the radio aint much of a style difficult enough that requires a great guitarist. Although some of the Backstreet Boys stuff could be a mission to render on stage. Obviously he must be doing something right as a session player to be well sought after. Good for him
I think he meant that the Idol tour musicians aren’t your average musician since they have to be able to play lots of different styles, and Tim Stewart is actually an incredible guitar player. I never thought he would get to be in her band just because he doesn’t fit the age requirement, but he’s an excellent musician and he’s a lot more lively when he’s not required to stay in the shadows, literally.
That said, this band looks like it’ll be a lot of fun for Allison to hang out with. Maybe she will get to play rythm guitar in a few songs, but I doubt they’ll tie her down through the entire live show, plus she’s not at that point yet in the guitar.
PRMari, my point is the styles that are out there(pop music) its probably what, the G scale? Based solely upon pop music, with hardly any changes – string pics and basic chords, merit the word “great” in the same context – especially playing covers? Im not saying he is not good. He could be great. It’s my third person point of view. I’ve been wrong before. =P
Really?! That’s awesome! Still not a fan of the song, but glad to hear she’s expanding the demo.
It also explains why she was signed. I was happy, believe me, but I think it was her appeal to the Spanish pop/ rock market, which is huge!
Very cute. I’m glad she has a young band she can grow with. It’s always look odd to me when you have a bunch of older, hardened session musicians performing with young pop acts. Too contrived.
Go Allison!
Woo! This is exciting. I was encouraged when I heard Allison was putting together a band, but there was still some niggling worry about what she could put together — or be allowed to put together. This sounds like a promising mix.
JohnM:
Me too! Some audiences (though of course not all) are so focused on the singer(s) and lead guitar in a rock band they don’t see or hear the rhythm section or realize how critical they are to the audience having a good time. It’s so cool that two young women are going to be the heartbeat of Allison’s band.
Absolutely true. It was a good call and I hope it pays off.
They’ll appeal to the young ladies because it’s all about girl power and they’ll draw in the males because they’re cute and rockin’.
loving the band. Women rule.
I didn’t say I was a good bass player.
Yeah, rhythm playing doesn’t get enough credit. Derek Trucks is a good example — he’s something of a guitar god, widely respected for his slide playing, but I actually think he’s as good a rhythm player as lead — I just love his rhythm work.
ETA: Just gotta add — I watched the bubble tweet a few times last night, but I just went back and watched it a few more, and really took in all of Allison’s faces while she was singing and the way she signaled everyone to cut — and I couldn’t stop grinning/laughing. Just hilarious. I guess either you get her hammy thing or you don’t — I’m glad I do!
Truthiness - i’m glad i’m not the only one! I wish her all the success in the world but I just can not relate at all. To her personality or her music. Not saying it makes it wrong, just that it doesn’t work for me.
Pretty happy for Allison. Glad she has some grrrls in the band. Keep realzzz, Lava Girl.
The fourth member of the band is Troy Laureta, keyboard player.
Very smart to have girls in the band. Now, lets rock!!!!
Great, fun tweet. NOW, for a demo!
Cool for Allison! I’m liking the band. Hope they give them a name pronto.
I’ve been MIA for a few days with Halloween festivities and homework. Anyway, after hearing all 3 singles, my money is still on Allison. Go Lava Girl!
Wow! Wasn’t expecting a band like that – it’s so GREAT! 2 chicks and 2 dudes, they look like 20-something, very eye-catching. I checked their stuff – all of them are great. Previously Priscilla and David were in rock bands – a band like that is put together for greater things that pop music, just saying. Looks like they won’t be need for backup singers, because all of them except for the drummer, sing. Hope they are permament and wish not only Allison but her whole band an awesome time together on and off stage… and great music for me! Rock on
