I know. LOL. Last night I learned from her facebook fan page that she finally took of her lower braces. That screams new thread! LOL.

It does indeed. These snippets have made me so excited for the release. I’m hoping to get to our local Torrid store next weekend to listen to the whole thing — assuming they’ll let a creepy old guy hang around a women’s clothing store for an hour! Well, I’ll have my teenage daughter with me…

Also, I just saw that she’s scheduled on Ellen on December 3. Keep them appearances coming!

This could completely be misinterpreted as a ‘violent song’  if we were only given 30 seconds of it. Let’s hope that Alli’s song ends like Taylor’s ‘” with the girl leaving the bad guy. I love the song and I think there are many girls who can relate to it, regardless of age.

“Beat Me Up” is also one of my favorites…I know it seems like a somewhat taboo topic for a 17-year-old to sing about, but we have to remember all we’ve got is 30 seconds to go on. The song reminds me (lyrically) of Taylor Swift’s “Tell Me Why”:
“You took a swing, I took it hard, and down here from the ground I see who you are…you tell me that you want me then push me around…I need you like a heartbeat but I know you’ve got a mean streak, makes me run for cover when you’re around…”

El viernes te olvido yo has very mature lyrics and from what little we’ve heard it seems like most of the songs do too.

I totally agree with this. (Isn’t that why Miley was pole dancing that one time?) And even teens posting on this site have said they resent being marketed to. Everyone seems to want to hear the more adult stuff.

Exactly, I agree completely. Age isn’t what determines anyone’s life experiences and I have a feeling that Allison has lived enough already to not only understand very well what she’s singing but also connect on an emotional level. The way she interpreted Cry baby every night on tour is not something you’d expect from a sheltered/regular 17 year old, but she got it right every night, she connected, she understood. As scary as it may seem to some, teens in this day and age know and have lived way more than you’d think.

I guess I just like my singers to have some life experience.

But a 17 year old has life experience. Some people have sheltered lives, others don’t. I doubt that Allison did. Some people live more in 17 years than others do in 30 who live safe, orderly lives. On top of that, she seems like an old soul. There is definitely a maturity and a depth to her, even if she tweets silliness. The way she interpreted songs like Someone to Watch Over Me, and Cry Baby, showed a very mature interpretation.

She’s a young rocker and this cd sounds relevant and current. I won’t love all the songs, since I’m older, but most cds I’m lucky if I like half the songs.

I love that there are some strong ballads with her powerful, emotional voice front and center. I have to listen again and come back with a more detailed response.

She doesn’t have the large fanbase from the show that Adam and Kris had, but I think this is a very strong cd that will contain many great singles. Jive is known for putting out multiple singles, and I think she will be on the top 40 charts before long. I really believe that six months from now we will be looking at a changed situation, if not sooner.
Her promotion hasn’t even begun yet.

I don’t know why she wasn’t as popular as the others on the show, she was always my favorite and always the one I was excited about each week. But it happens that way. Some are underrated on the show (like Jennifer Hudson) and make their mark after the show ends.

The media raved about Allison every week and finally the judges came around. It killed me during the show when they were pimping Danny Gokey, Matt, Anoop, and Lil, and ignoring Allison, who was clearly, to me, the superior talent.

Her talent was huge, I don’t know how anyone missed it. But then again I didn’t forsee the success that would be had by Daughtry, Carrie, or Hudson. So we each respond to something different and then when they hit the real world, it’s a whole other arena.

I know, I totally know, she’s going to have a long and stellar career. I can’t wait to read reviews of this cd, I think they will be very positive.

‘Beat Me Up’  could have been on Adam’s album. If Adam had sung it, you’d interpret the lyrics as an S&M / bondage song. But since a woman’s singing it, it’s suddenly about domestic abuse? Not fair to Allison’ ¦

I seriously do not think this is an s&m song. Allison explained about it in an interview recently. She said, a lot of girls get beat up by their boyfriends, and “its very sad.” She said she was assuming the role of a character when she sang the song, of a girl who gets beat up by her boyfriend.

Until we hear the whole song and the lyrics, I wouldn’t make assumptions about what the song means, yet. It’s pretty hard to do without knowing the whole song. I don’t think, at her age, her label would let her do an s&m song, even if she wanted to.

From what she said in the interview, this song isn’t a celebration of violent relationships, it’s more of a portrait of and perhaps a commentary on a sad situation that is common among girls her age. I think the song will be dissected once it is known in its entirety. It is a bold title and makes us curious about what it means, but we just can’t know yet.

That would be fun, but then a lot of folks would be hitting the exit doors after Chris. And yeah, no Disney.

We agreed to disagree on whether it would be good for her to be part of Ryan’s Kradison gig. I still believe is a good gig, even if, overall, she may be underappreciated in the Idol universe.

Thats why I feel Alli shouldn’t be part of that Ryan concert with Adam Kris and Allison.
If we go by the percentages, Allison will get her usual amount of critics in proportion to adam and Kris. She already extracted the most she could out of AI viewers. She will be underappreciated.

19E needs to expose her to a different type of audience. Maybe opening for Pink or Aguilera when she finally starts to tour.

I would agree if it was an Allison original. But given that it is a cover of Dilana, Dilana (apparently) will release it shortly, and Allison’s version does not depart from Dilana’s version, it might not even get released to radio stations.
