I love this kid as if I birthed her myself. But Kradam all seem to suffer from sounds-alike songs on the debut album, as far as I cam tell from samples. But, from samples, I hesitate to judge. But still, I love Adam's"For Your Entertainment." And I love Alison's "Friday I'll Be Over You", although it seems geared to 17 younger--and I'm just not. Allison's title track and "Scars" are so darned good, they are classics in waiting, particularly "Scars". Maybe I'll love each and every song on the dynamic threesome's various albums, but, if not: May Adam's, Allison's, and Kris's sophomore albums be more satisfying (to me), in the vein of Bowie/Mercury, Raitt/Taylor, and LaMontagne/Taylor.

Oh man, we need a new thread! Almost off the 'recent posts' list now!

I know. LOL. Last night I learned from her facebook fan page that she finally took of her lower braces. That screams new thread! LOL.

That sounds really great and it does seem legit. If so, then that's a great compliment to Allison.

LoveDaRocker: I am sure this tread is sort of dead by now but I know some hardcore fans are still around.

Of course we are!

oceana: Can't wait for the cd, Dec 1 seems so far away.

It does indeed. These snippets have made me so excited for the release. I'm hoping to get to our local Torrid store next weekend to listen to the whole thing -- assuming they'll let a creepy old guy hang around a women's clothing store for an hour! Well, I'll have my teenage daughter with me...

Also, I just saw that she's scheduled on Ellen on December 3. Keep them appearances coming!

I am sure this tread is sort of dead by now but I know some hardcore fans are still around.
I was reading a Lyndsey Parker blog entry about Dilana, and (it seems) Dilana herself wrote the following:

Dilana - Fri Nov 6, 2009 8:06am PST
i am extremely honored to have Allison rocking out HOLIDAY! she's the best woman for this song! can't wait to hear and buy her version! thanx to all of you for the awesome comments and support! COME N SEE ME AT THE ROXY 11/22 for my CD release, InsideOut
Much love n rock,
DILANA

Sounds legit, not only because I wouldn't expect Dilana to think differently, but also because of the plug to her upcoming release.
See the blog here.

Thanks for that new video of Allison, it was fun to watch. She's very composed and poised and yet excited. I can't wait to see her on Idol, I do believe they will invite her to perform. Can't wait for the cd, Dec 1 seems so far away.

This could completely be misinterpreted as a 'violent song' if we were only given 30 seconds of it. Let's hope that Alli's song ends like Taylor's '” with the girl leaving the bad guy. I love the song and I think there are many girls who can relate to it, regardless of age.

Do you really want to bring allison into this. Her songs will sell top 40

I absolutely cannot wait for this album to drop. I was hooked after one listen to the snippets! "Trouble Is" makes my ears perk up every time; I also love her lower register that she uses in a handful of songs.

"Beat Me Up" is also one of my favorites...I know it seems like a somewhat taboo topic for a 17-year-old to sing about, but we have to remember all we've got is 30 seconds to go on. The song reminds me (lyrically) of Taylor Swift's "Tell Me Why":
"You took a swing, I took it hard, and down here from the ground I see who you are...you tell me that you want me then push me around...I need you like a heartbeat but I know you've got a mean streak, makes me run for cover when you're around..."

Not to mention, 'El Viernes Te Olvido Yo' , which is more mature than FIBOU.
El viernes te olvido yo has very mature lyrics and from what little we've heard it seems like most of the songs do too.

PRMari
Having heard the demo for Trouble is and the original Holiday, those two songs are also super mature, so I'm also very surprised, though in a good way that the label let her be a little bit more edgy because she really isn't a Disney pop princess.

PRMari
Breaking out of the teen star molde is not easy, so she might as well start up a little more adult.

I totally agree with this. (Isn't that why Miley was pole dancing that one time?) And even teens posting on this site have said they resent being marketed to. Everyone seems to want to hear the more adult stuff.

Lyndsey said the interview is 1/2 hour split into 2 parts. The first part goes up tomorrow.

I think Allison is comfortable with Lyndsey, so it should be good.

It looks like we're finally getting some traction on Alli's promo.

The album seems to start out very poppy and gradually gets a little more rock. That said, I gravitate more towards songs in the later half of the album like "Holiday". That's more of what I was hoping her album would be like, but understandedly the more power poppy songs like FIBOU sound like they'll fit right into Top 40 radio easy. I definitely get a Pink/Clarkson vibe with a little K. Perry and a pinch of Gaga. In "Scars" particularly she sounds SO MUCH like Pink. I'd say "Baby Pink" is an appropiate nickname for her. Lol. And I like "Scars" 'cause it's one of the few songs where her beautiful voice really stands out and isn't over processed to death. I wish that wasn't such the norm. I adore her voice, and the girl can saaaang. I'm surprised they let her sing "Beat Me Up". It seems super mature for her. Overall though, I can see myself working out to this album, so I will be picking it up. :)

I definitely get a Pink/Clarkson vibe with a little K. Perry and a pinch of Gaga. In “Scars” particularly she sounds SO MUCH like Pink. I’d say “Baby Pink” is an appropiate nickname for her. Lol. And I like “Scars” ’cause it’s one of the few songs where her beautiful voice really stands out and isn’t over processed to death. I wish that wasn’t such the norm. I adore her voice, and the girl can saaaang. I’m surprised they let her sing “Beat Me Up”. It seems super mature for her. Overall though, I can see myself working out to this album, so I will be picking it up.

Thats great. Lyndsey's second favorite was always Ali.
She said in one of her articles that as good as Slow Ride was in rock week, imagine how awesome Adam and Allison could've been in the finale performing We are the Champions if it was up to her, or something to that effect.
I want her to talk about Holiday, and heck, the rest of the album.

She says she can't wait to appear on Idol next season. That will be awesome! Still pulling for You Don't Know Me!
That would be perfection, either that or rock their faces off with Holiday.

When you say 'teen' that is not a label that explains anything, since many teens have sheltered, safe, privileged lives, and others have lived a helluva a lot by the time they get to 17, and I think Allison is the latter.
Exactly, I agree completely. Age isn't what determines anyone's life experiences and I have a feeling that Allison has lived enough already to not only understand very well what she's singing but also connect on an emotional level. The way she interpreted Cry baby every night on tour is not something you'd expect from a sheltered/regular 17 year old, but she got it right every night, she connected, she understood. As scary as it may seem to some, teens in this day and age know and have lived way more than you'd think.

I guess I just like my singers to have some life experience.

But a 17 year old has life experience. Some people have sheltered lives, others don't. I doubt that Allison did. Some people live more in 17 years than others do in 30 who live safe, orderly lives. On top of that, she seems like an old soul. There is definitely a maturity and a depth to her, even if she tweets silliness. The way she interpreted songs like Someone to Watch Over Me, and Cry Baby, showed a very mature interpretation.

When you say "teen" that is not a label that explains anything, since many teens have sheltered, safe, privileged lives, and others have lived a helluva a lot by the time they get to 17, and I think Allison is the latter.

I offer you You don't know me.

Exactly. That song says it all.

After one listen I want to say this - I love it. I think it's a really good cd. I'm proud and excited. She reminds me, and has all along, of both Pink and Kelly Clarkson. [Not that her voice is identical, of course, but they have similar styles and I think they are all 3 similarly talented.]

She's a young rocker and this cd sounds relevant and current. I won't love all the songs, since I'm older, but most cds I'm lucky if I like half the songs.

I love that there are some strong ballads with her powerful, emotional voice front and center. I have to listen again and come back with a more detailed response.

She doesn't have the large fanbase from the show that Adam and Kris had, but I think this is a very strong cd that will contain many great singles. Jive is known for putting out multiple singles, and I think she will be on the top 40 charts before long. I really believe that six months from now we will be looking at a changed situation, if not sooner.
Her promotion hasn't even begun yet.

I don't know why she wasn't as popular as the others on the show, she was always my favorite and always the one I was excited about each week. But it happens that way. Some are underrated on the show (like Jennifer Hudson) and make their mark after the show ends.

The media raved about Allison every week and finally the judges came around. It killed me during the show when they were pimping Danny Gokey, Matt, Anoop, and Lil, and ignoring Allison, who was clearly, to me, the superior talent.

Her talent was huge, I don't know how anyone missed it. But then again I didn't forsee the success that would be had by Daughtry, Carrie, or Hudson. So we each respond to something different and then when they hit the real world, it's a whole other arena.

I know, I totally know, she's going to have a long and stellar career. I can't wait to read reviews of this cd, I think they will be very positive.

'Beat Me Up' could have been on Adam's album. If Adam had sung it, you'd interpret the lyrics as an S&M / bondage song. But since a woman's singing it, it's suddenly about domestic abuse? Not fair to Allison' ¦

I seriously do not think this is an s&m song. Allison explained about it in an interview recently. She said, a lot of girls get beat up by their boyfriends, and "its very sad." She said she was assuming the role of a character when she sang the song, of a girl who gets beat up by her boyfriend.

Until we hear the whole song and the lyrics, I wouldn't make assumptions about what the song means, yet. It's pretty hard to do without knowing the whole song. I don't think, at her age, her label would let her do an s&m song, even if she wanted to.

From what she said in the interview, this song isn't a celebration of violent relationships, it's more of a portrait of and perhaps a commentary on a sad situation that is common among girls her age. I think the song will be dissected once it is known in its entirety. It is a bold title and makes us curious about what it means, but we just can't know yet.

LoveDaRocker:...My guess is that her talent simply does not click with the Idol core audience (which is probably the same audience who post in this blog). I have a feeling she will be more appreciated outside the Idol universe.

I think we agreed to disagree in this subject right?
Thats why I feel Alli shouldn't be part of that Ryan concert with Adam Kris and Allison.
If we go by the percentages, Allison will get her usual amount of critics in proportion to adam and Kris. She already extracted the most she could out of AI viewers. She will be underappreciated.

19E needs to expose her to a different type of audience. Maybe opening for Pink or Aguilera when she finally starts to tour.

Someone said the Ryan concert would be good because they can do Slow Ride. All it means is we are gonna have Utubes of Adamcentric and little Alli nowhere to be seen unless she gets close to him.
I could be wrong.

I have a feeling she will be more appreciated outside the Idol universe.

I think we agreed to disagree in this subject right?
Thats why I feel Alli shouldn’t be part of that Ryan concert with Adam Kris and Allison.

sleeptalker
I can see 'Holiday' being a huuuuuge hit.

I would agree if it was an Allison original. But given that it is a cover of Dilana, Dilana (apparently) will release it shortly, and Allison's version does not depart from Dilana's version, it might not even get released to radio stations.
