What do you think about what Allison was wearing in LA? More to your liking?

It sounds like her choices were very limited. I thought she should have shopped in the men’s dept. ‘“ I don’t think she ever did that on the show, though.

Other than Michael Jackson week, as jordison mentioned, she did do an Aerosmith song, “Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing”. I know girls have sang it though. But the version I typically think of is the Aerosmith one.

    ALLI ALERT!!!

Here is a new video of Alli’s rehearsal at LA, including practicing for Cry Baby.

    Can’t miss this!

  • JohnM:

Shopping in the men’s department for Michael Jackson was kinda forced on her, since it was Michael Jackson week. But yeah, there’s the Aerosmith one, as well as Papa.

About the Cry Baby disrespect during rock week, I just figured it was that she and Kris were posing a serious threat to the show’s two TCOs, and they wanted to make sure that one of them went home so that they could keep their dream of the TCO finale alive. Kudos to Kris for screwing that up.

She was wearing different clothes in LA? Didn’t notice — another geek fail — my twitter is NonVisualMan, after all…

  • JohnM:

jordison, that rehearsal video is awesome!

Cry Baby was fantastic. I’d say that’s our confirmation that Zoux was indeed screwing it up in Memphis. But setting that aside, I LOVE the way he plays it. They should record the two of them doing it that way — it’s just wonderful.

Really cool to hear that little bit of DWTP harmony.

Very funny bits too. Sounded like she was making up fake lyrics for DWTP, but I couldn’t tell what they were. Reminded me of “Sweet Loretta Fat, she thought she was a cleaner, but she was a frying pan” — a gold star to the first person to identify who sang that and when!

I, too, love the way they’re doing Cry Baby. Reminds me of this performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4qsNcn1VbA
It’s one of my favorites – it’s nice to hear her do a version that is more heartfelt and less angry :)

Rub: JohnM, I think these guys can tear up the stage, I’ve seen them before in doing research, especially Priscilla and her fire.

Yeah, I remember watching the Fire At Play videos and thinking she was a pretty good frontwoman. I agree that it’s probably jitters. Watching her in particular, it feels to me like she’s concentrating on making sure she plays everything correctly. Probably just needs the bunch of reps.

Shouldn’t Slow Ride count as shopping in the men’s department? How about Someone to watch over me? Wasn’t it made popular by Frank Sinatra?

Yes LoveDaRocker, I guess folks have proven you wrong on your statement above.

You are in trouble now. That was alli lurker. Maybe he/she doesn’t mind this time :-) .
And, to alli lurker’s defense, the main point of the post was to note that Alli should have gotten some other song. The men’s department quote wasn’t all that important.

I hope you guys realize that this was a joke. I don’t care one bit about the men’s department controversy. Just having a little fun.

  • LoveDaRocker:

Me too. The “trouble” comment was because you attributed to me an alli lurker post.

(ETA: Wait, were you talking to me or LoveDaRocker?) Yikes, I guess so! Didn’t really think that one through… I guess the point I was trying to make was that I didn’t feel like Allison generally chose a ‘man’s’ song (like Danny and Hero, Danny and Carrie Underwood) so that she could easily ‘make it her own’. On rock night it seemed like the rules were that the song had to be pre-1970 and there weren’t too many female songs available, so maybe she would have had more choices had she gone to the man’s dept.

What do you think about what Allison was wearing in LA? More to your liking?

Not bad, a little rough. I really liked the Memphis outfit. What did you think jordison? And don’t you live in LA? Did you go?

ETA: Are you asking cuz the ripped jeans magically appeared?

  • alli lurker:

I think ‘D’ would make a great group opening number. However, there probably aren’t enough weeks or dancers left for that.

Maybe they could use it next season. I heard the numbers were down for this season.

OK, addressing that to LoveDaRocker was just meant as a little joke because of previous incidents of misidentification of posting authors (i.e., you vs LoveDaRocker). The subject really was irrelevant to me as it seems like the discussion had gone its course, but I was curious as to your reaction.

I was just curious, because you commented on Alli’s appearance on GMA, and that you were hoping that she would wear something on Ellen not quite as “rocker chick” – like just some jeans. Since she was wearing jeans in LA I was curious if this was the look you had in mind. This isn’t something that I would normally focus on, but was curious as to your opinion.

I live in the LA area, but unfortunately was not able to go. Really, really would have liked to have gone, but it wouldn’t have been fair to my wife, who has some health issues.
