I would think that Jive doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t give a crap about what position an Idol finished in, or even if they are an Idol. Idol is over and done with. Jive wants Allison apparently. She looks to have one of the most top notch teams you can have. Their concern is only going to be Allison. When her album is ready, and when they think it should come out is when I think it will come out. I know some fans are under the impression that she is already working on her album - ahead of Kris and Adam. Kelly Picklerà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s came out first. Archie had a single out before Cook. I think ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a possibility weà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll have an October Allison record. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m thrilled it will be pop rock. Sheà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s going to be huge. All over TV and radio. So, in that regards sheà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll be bigger than Daughtry.

I agree with everything you said.

The records don't come out in order of how they finished on the program. Just last year, DA's came out before DC's. Kellie's came out whenever because she was doing country and Kat's record had nothing to do with hers. People need to understand that Idol is a tv show. When it ends, the top 10 are in the real world. The real world doesn't operate according to Idol rules. The real marketplace has its own logic and its own rules.

I'm thrilled, but not surprised, that Allison is being signed and will have top-notch support. I expected no less. I feel that she and Adam were the most talented from the season, followed by Kris. Allison is my favorite, I love her voice, and her personality and attitude, she's going to be a big, big star, she's incredible. Can't wait.

ppwars:
"Has Allison expressed an interest in writing her own music?"

YES! She has stated that she likes to write. She did write (or co) a single that was on the web for a while. Great song- sorry, canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t remember the name.

It's called Take It Or Leave It, and it's still on the web, on the Youtube channel of the guy who produced it:
http://www.youtube.com/user/BrandonPetersMusic

A good, catchy song, though it could definitely benefit from a full-on professional re-recording. I could be happy with this style of record from her.

Just keep her away from the cutesy crap!

Can someone answer me this question? If Kris and Adam are both coming out with albums in the fall would there single be out this summer?

In the past, Jive released Idol lead-off singles in early August. RCA seems to normally releases the first Idol single closer to the time of the album release (a couple of weeks before or after (so late October to early December). Last year, RCA decided to release Cook's first single at the beginning of September.

I hope this is true. I am thrilled for Allison!I want her album the most.

I agree she's not really Disney type pop rock, she's more Paramore type pop rock. But I don't think we have to worry about Jive Disney-ing her, they are not really that type of label. They are parking Archie there for now, but they thrive on mainstream pop hits. I bet they go Paramore lite/Pink-ish with Allison.

I can't say I am surprised, just hoping for some official announcements right now.
I believe this is a done deal, in his interview with Idolatry, Kris seemed to be very confident about Allison's future, IMO it indicates that she has been signed.

As for her first album, I am sure Jive (or whatever other label) will make her record during the tour to release the album sometime next fall, this is how they get the most advantage from the idol exposure.
I hope/expect that she will do rock/pop stuff first a la Kelly/Pink because it's probably what she wants to do right now and it's probably where the money is too. IMO, she has the less question marks of the 3 because we all know what she wants to do, it is a successfull genre and 19/Sony has proved they can manufacture a good album in that vein.

Alison is NOT going to appeal to Nirvana/ NIN-type fans. Pink is indeed the proper point of reference although they will definitely cross-market her to Disney.

Oh. Then I, personally, am an outlier. Being that I am a fan of NIN and Nirvana, never watched Idol before this year, am not a fan of Pink, and am a fan of Allison. I guess I am not at all typical :smile2_tb:.

I really think her appeal is broader than just Pink and Disney. That it would be a mistake for her to do the kind of silly songs that she would be expected to do if she went that direction. I hope she stays a bit darker.

And if Kurt Cobain didn't want me to consider him pop he shouldn't have written such catchy songs :smiley2_tb:. He wrote some of the best pop music ever.

I think she is likely to appeal more to the slightly alienated, more like Nirvana or Nine Inch Nails.

Props for quoting Souls of Mischief in your post though

Just because they sold millions of records doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t make them pop. Nirvana were as grunge as grunge gets.

Ah, but grunge/ alternative became the new pop in the early-to-mid nineties. Or perhaps a better way to say it is, pop engulfed/ subsumed/ absorbed grunge.

I think Allison and David A. are both very talented but in different ways.

Allison does have the great rocker voice and edgier image/personality that could give her an easier route to the Top 40 charts and mass popularity with teens/young adults, not just tweens. They could easily have her start opening for Pink, Kelly Clarkson, etc. for example if she goes pop/rock.

David A. has a unique, gorgeous pure voice. He shines the most on music with meaninful lyrics that allow him to make a heart connection (like Imagine) or that he can relate to (Crush). He has great interpretative skills. But right now there is a bit of a disconnect between his persona (young for his age) and his greatest talents, which really lie with more mature/meaningful material. He just needs to get some experience and a little more maturity to come into his own, and I think the tours he's been on and will go on this summer are great for that.

Good news for Allison, if true. I'm not expecting greatness out of her first album, but I think she could be a very good recording artist down the road. She is the most talented teen ever on Idol. Mileage, of course.

I really really really hope this is true 'cause if it's not I just spazzed out for a good two or three minutes for nothing.

And omg, Allison and Kris as label mates! How cute! ... OMG, Allison, Kris, AND Archie as label mates! *flails*

Is this for real or a rumor? Seems like a funny way to announce a signing.

Notice the question mark in the headline? It's pretty much a rumor at this point.

Nirvana was NOT a pop band. They were alternative rock/grunge. Not anywhere close to pop!

Kurt Cobain (R.I.P.) would be rolling over in his grave if he heard someone calling Nirvana pop!

I don't see either Adam or Kris being the twittering types. Didn't I hear Kris refer to twitter as "the devil" in one of his interviews? So unless 19E is basically making them have twitter accounts, I doubt these as legit (and even if they are legit, I wouldn't expect either guy to be on them much).

As for Allison, I would hope the folks at Jive (or whatever label she ends up on) doesn't try and turn her into a bubbly pop Disney girl. That's SO not her. Even though Kris had to do his Disney World trip the other day, I think he's safe from being Disneyfied in the future -- a little too old, married, etc. And if you check out some of the pictures of him pre-Idol that are popping up all over the internet, he doesn't come across quite as squeaky clean as Disney likes 'em!

Anyway, I'm not going to worry too much about Adam, Kris or Allison -- I have faith (hope?) that they will all e just fine when their debut albums come out.

Finally, anyone check out Kris' Idolatry interview yet. What'd ya think?

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m not being snarky but Idol contestants do not get the Nirvana crowd.

Nirvana was a pop band. They sold millions of records. My point is that currently the teen market is being served very safe, sweet stuff. It doesn't have to be that way. Allison was unlike any other female contestant that has been on the show previously. So speaking historically about what type of audience an Idol can expect, I don't think that works for Allison. So I believe that Allison can tap into fans that may not have watched Idol.

I don't think that Allison is signed.. quite yet. I wouldn't be surprised if she is because Kara's raving about her so I can actually see Kara working with her and Matt if they are not signed.

If she does release an album, I can kinda see it as either really early with people sending her rejected Kelly Clarkson and Pink songs but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Or, the label will let her have some input and release it early next year and they can help promote the release by having her on American Idol. Another reason i think that it might get released later is that she is 17 and shouldn't there be some child labor laws for working that kid? I just realized that they did so for Jordin and David but they probably had more of a deadline.

This isn't even actually from this Cleveland station. That photo slideshow was linked earlier on all Clear Channel station sites. When I was on Z100 this morning it was there too. And to be honest a lot of stuff that's mentioned on the front of those CC station sites are picked up directly from internet buzz or regular gossip. In this case I'm leaning towards believing Allison is going to Jive but I don't consider this particular blurb anything concrete.

à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll be surprised if allison has more success than kristy lee cook

I'd be shocked if she isn't more successful. KLC tanked.

I think there's a lot of space in the industry for Allison. How many rocker girls has AI produced? The market isnt' saturated from AI contestants.

Also, she's a very good singer. Who else was a rocker gal--Amanda Overmeyer and Gina Glockson? Allison is a much stronger singer than either of those gals. I don't think that Pink, for instance, is any better a singer than Alison.

And she's cute and young. A lot of time to cement her place in the industry.

I'm actually much more surprised that Kris is going to Jive. He's not a hip hop guy and doesn't seem like a popartist, but okay.

I don't get David A. Season 8 was my first year watching, and hearing all the buzz prompted me to check out some of season 7. (there is a website that I go to that has AI all season's episodes). Anyway, while I kinda liked David Cook, and LOVED Jason Castro, David A just did not seem to have an appealing voice to me. And he often lost track of the words to a song, No?

Anyways, as far as talent, I would agree that Allison's is far superior to David A.

Hey, jpfan. I posted this link earlier: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuhjKsxmWrg&feature=related . I apologize for doing it again, but it will give you an idea about how she interacts with fans. The personality is there without a doubt. AI just wasn't the platform to show it off.

There are many, many more examples which point up that she, indeed, is personable and connects and deeply with fans. If you look back at her performances, the live audiences go nutz over her. As far as what you see talent-wise, no use debating that as it is a matter of personal prefs. BUT, competing with Hanna Montana, etc, is altogether another animal. It probably isn't the Hanna-type performer she is intended to compete AGAINST. It's more to reach whatever part of that market that she can on another level, as well as an altogether different market.
