Update! Call 323-982-8897 to hear a snip of Allison’s new single!

Allison just twittered: Aight homies you guys wanna hear a sneak preview of my NEW SINGLE?! Call me to hear it at 323-982-8897. Ohhh shnaaaapssss.

Just listened to the snip.   It’s definitely pop with a hard rock edge.   A heavy electric guitar riff introduces the song. Allison rocks out majorly–think old school Heart and Joan Jett. I think I’m gonna like!

There been a rumor floating around twitter that Allison Iraheta’s new single is going to be leaking on the internet soon.

And as it turns out the rumor is true!   The name of the song is “Friday I’ll Be Over U” and   Popeater WILL be debuting the red-haired rockers single on Monday!

According to my source, it was supposed to happen today, but has been pushed back to Monday.

I like it, and I don’t usually like pop.

I really have no high expectations for Kradison (its best to keep your expectations low, and if something great happens, you’ll be happy :) ) But, there is just something about Allie that makes me think she can have a nice long career.

I can’t wait till she opens up a tour for a big time artist.

  • JohnM:

Well, I can’t wait until she does a small-venue tour of her own — a full-length set, close to the audience, without wasting money on some other act that I don’t care about. Hmmm, unless she opens for somebody like a Paramore — then I’m down with that too!

Beautiful pic of Allison. She sounds great too.

DITTO – I gata few bills for that small venue ticket!

    hmmm…

Hard to hear, but what I hear I’m not thrilled with. Sounds really generic Kelly Clarkson 2.0, but without the catchiness of some of Kelly’s tunes. I really like Allison so I was hoping for a bit better, but it’s hard to judge until you can actually hear it in its entirety and not played through a windtunnel.

Still, sounds like something that could be played on kid pop radio stations (radio disney and the like) and could be a hit. I just never really thought of Allison as a kid pop singer, she has a more mature sound.

Again, I’m not sure, it could be a whole other song when you can actually hear it, but I’m a tad disappointed, hopefully it sounds better when you can hear the full version.

Daniel B: Hard to hear, but what I hear I’m not thrilled with. Sounds really generic Kelly Clarkson 2.0,

I had a similar reaction when I first heard it, which was through a phone — a generic Kelly-type clip that could have been sung by pretty much anyone. But then I heard it a second time through a different phone, and it sounded more like Allison, and it sounded even more like her once I downloaded it and listened to it on headphones.

but without the catchiness of some of Kelly’s tunes.

I think it’s very catchy — I had it stuck in my head most of the weekend. Also see my comment below about the “oh-oh oh-ohs”, which are certainly a “catchiness device”.

Still, sounds like something that could be played on kid pop radio stations (radio disney and the like) and could be a hit. I just never really thought of Allison as a kid pop singer, she has a more mature sound.

While there are indeed kid pop elements in it, I felt that it sounds more mature than, for example, the chorus of My Life Would Suck. For one thing, the minor key and (what I can make out of) Allison’s tone make it sound darker. Additionally, one of the main things that make it sound kid-poppish is the “oh-oh oh-ohs” in the chorus, and those immediately reminded me of the “oh-oh oh-ohs” in I Do Not Hook Up.

So, all in all, I felt that it actually sounds like they may have done a good job of “spanning the generations” — some kid pop elements for the youngsters, but some more mature elements for the older folks.

But yeah, it’s tough to draw hard conclusions based on such a short, crappy-sound-quality clip.
