Amanda Overmyer on Live With Regis and Kelly

I haven’t watched this yet…tell me what you think!

ETA: She needs a band! The tune wasn’t quite cutting it with just piano. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Amanda just stand still and sing. She’s got that Elvis sneer down pat. Also, I have no doubt that Amanda could kick Simon’s ass (regarding her comment that he didn’t intimidate her). That would be so awesome to watch.

Watch the Video after the jump…

…thanks lawrence for the video…

I love Amanda. She did a great job, imo! It would make me so happy if the rumors about the wild card were true and she got chosen. I’m definitely going to miss her.

O lo (tm Ramiele stolen by Syesha). Yikes that was covered in wrong sauce. And what happened to Michael Orland? He’s been with the rest of the bootees.

As always, I love her interviews though. Soooo, the bikers in Indiana are tougher than the sissy Brit Simon….heh…

That was a great line, t2, wasn’t it? Great song choice too!

The interview started with her singing?

  6. 6 Bobbi Mar 24th, 2008 at 1:23 pm

Yes, sf. I saw it live (meaning live on TV; I wasn’t in the audience.) They intro’d her and she sang. Then they talked to her.

i think that was as close to a ballad as amanda will ever sing!

i love amanada. i do hope she stays in music. for once, someone who knows the difference between “privilege” and “right” in terms of the future.

I think Amaznda is a likeable person, but I don’t think she’s superstar material. I’d go see her in a band in a bar, but I wouldn’t pay to see a concert of just her. He singing is only so-so for me.

I miss Amanda! I think her good personality was finally showing, but then she got the boot. I really wish she would’ve made it to go on tour.

I think she sang great with just the piano.

I’m amazed at how mediocre Amanda is. As far as the tour, I’ll let America decide that one. Nice person though. The crew this year is heavy on niche talents but very short on people with the whole package.

That song was I Hate Myself For Loving You, the Joan Jett song she did in 80’s week. She did it slower this time.

During the competition, Randy said “Well done!”
    Paula said, “This is YOU.”
    Simon said, “Fantastic, Really Fantastic.”

I think unless you are an Amanda fan, listening objectively, that was not a great performance.

I’m not an Amanda fan, but I thought that was her bet vocal by far. When she dials it back a bit, and doesn’t sing every note like it is part of some rock anthem, she’s got real potential.

Idolbeat, I think it was a very good rendition. She had a piano accompaniment to a rock song. Not an easy thing to do. She did move a little bit, but it’s not the same as if she had bass & drums behind her. I think she will find “limited” success, maybe doing the summer fares, maybe Chris D. will allow her to come on stage and sing a few songs; but honestly, she needs a HIT record. Otherwise, I see her as a sidekick to a talk show host. Honestly, she’s likable and she has a good attitude.

Does Michael Orland accompany all the Idols on every single show? Regis is in NYC….notice she’s not on Ellen? Hmmm…

Well, Sally, according to MJ’s appearances list, she’ll be on Ellen Friday. No conspiracy to be found here!

  16. 16 jpfan Mar 24th, 2008 at 3:01 pm

Friday 3/28 - Amanda Overmyer appears on The Ellen Degeneres Show. I think the “talk show” gigs are all taken. Wait …maybe Ellen needs a co-host???

She needs to look at herself in the mirror more. She’s a very pretty woman (w/ makeup! LOL), but that sneer she makes when she sings can be a little annoying. A little bit too Elvis-ish. Somebody needs to take her aside and just mentor her, coach her, so she can go further than she is. She also needs to network with the other Idol alumni from past shows. You notice there seems to be an alumni of sorts with the past Idols….I don’t know about this batch of idols….I don’t get that they are so much in love with each other.

    Anybody else feeling this group?

Just flyin’ by to catch the last of the AO vibe…..rumor has it (and a strong one at that) is that negotiations are underway to have her peform at the famous Whiskey-a-GoGo in LA…

    http://www.whiskyagogo.com/

“As long as there has been a Los Angeles rock scene, there has been the Whisky A Go-Go.
An anchor on the Sunset Strip since it’s opening in 1964, the Whisky A Go-Go has played host to rock ‘n’ roll’s most important bands, from the Doors, Janis Joplin, and Led Zeppelin to today’s up and coming new artists.”

Sounds like the Rock crowd has taken a likin’ to this AI castoff….Go Amanda!

I love the girl, Amanda is priceless in this video! I wonder if Fuel is still looking for a singer since Chris Daughtry turned down the job.

  21. 21 abbysee Mar 24th, 2008 at 6:31 pm

I saw it this morning, I loved her interview more than the singing. I guess it was just so sedate for me. Not the Amanda that I love. I like the prowling, bending, snarling Amanda, not the docile, milquestoast person that showed up in her place today. Oh well. I hope she gets some better gigs.

  22. 22 Kat Mar 24th, 2008 at 9:34 pm

Not a perfect performance, but the piano player’s inability to keep a tempo didn’t help matters much. She’s a lot like Taylor for me — I enjoy her voice so much that I don’t need every note to be 100% perfect. But hey, she’s not going to be everyone’s bag of chips, and the cool thing about her is that she knows it and is happy with it.

  23. 23 dazdnconfuzd Mar 24th, 2008 at 11:52 pm

I thought she did a great job. Amanda was never my pick to win, but I did vote for her to try to keep her on. I did always looked forward to seeing what she would come up with week after week.

Shame she didn’t make the tour. She would have been a nice addition to the mix!
