Well, our first “plant” of the season comes in the form on Isabel Pasqualone, who you will see in a video down below, performed with David Foster at 15 years old. She has quite an instrument, vocally, and could be a contender given the right material. I struggle with the idea that she’s actually a recording artist though, and will likely flame out more like Pia (although, she could follow in Katherine McPhee’s footsteps instead).
If she sounds a little “rehearsed” to you, it’s because she’s from the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston. In High School, she played a Hot Box Girl in Guys And Dolls, and she attended a Broadway summer camp in NYC before going to Berklee (so she has some music theatre background as well). I’m unclear if she actually graduated from Berklee, as she might have also attended Marist College in New York.
She considers herself “Power Pop” like Kelly Clarkson or Leona Lewis. Here’s a little writeup she made when she was looking for songwriters for her album:
