Hopefully Ellen could have Adam guest host her show in-between when she has her plate full…. I think he would be great – her show will definitely increase in ratings and gives us a chance to see Adam in a different light since we like to listen and watch his body language so much…….hey one hand washes the other in music/show biz!………and as I write this comment I am actually listening to “Jingle bells” – WUT – WUT!

Would they have picked a gay judge before Adam? Unlikely.

What makes you think sexual orientation had anything to do with it? I seriously doubt ANY allusion will be made to Ellen’s own sexuality on Idol.

Does this mean a shake-up in the seating order at the table? I’m sure Simon will retain his Last Word seat on the far right, but where will Ellen’s seat be? Where will the producers want to place her comments in the range of Seuss-like nonsense from Randy, the mixed bag from Kara, and Simon’s edicts?

producers call Ellen ‘warm, compassionate’  with an incredible sense of humor and a love of music.

IF they’re going to have a fourth judge, they (not to mention the viewers) don’t need ‘warm compassionate humour,’ and they don’t need someone who merely loves music – they need a freakin’ JUDGE – and one who actually has some sort of musical background. In general I find Ellen kind of irritating and frankly not all that funny; the *only* thing that would make this palatable is if she leaves the warm fuzzies in her dressing room and pulls out the Snark Monster.

…Then again, what am I complaining about – I won’t even be watching, LOL (I might have if they had brought in Shania permanently, but Ellen?? Meh.).

It is a made for profit reality show that uses and abuses young adults to get ratings and make more profit. It’s premise isn’t altruistic and it rarely discovers the ‘best’  talent to award with a career. And the voters of America are the farthest thing from experts when it comes to knowing and understanding talent. . . The show is what it is, a cheesy reality show that gets viewers involved.

Huh? Ellen’s key demographic is middle-aged white women, which is also one of the largest parts of AI viewership. Adam’s been great for AI but I seriously doubt he had anything to do with Ellen replacing Paula.

She does feature the AI losers on her show, and she even pimps some of them (remember the kid that lived in his car and auditioned, but got the boot when he refused to let the band and backup singers accompany him?) Ellen has a heart for the losers. Not sure that’s going to play well on AI.

I wish we had the opinion of the other 3 judges, whom I am sure feel like AI has sold out with this move. I do like her though, so I will tune in because I’m a big AI fan, and I’m interested to see how this plays out. A FIVE year contract though, holy cow. I’m sure Kara is steaming over that bit of news.

Oh yeah, people will watch the first few shows just to see what ELLEN is going to do, god forbid it should be about the kids singing their hearts out. All that chitter-chatter-haha between the judges will be the shows format. They should rename the show American Idle Chatter Hour! Per-chance, is Ellen from Arkansas?

I love Ellen but this bodes more focus again on judges and less on contestants. Did they learn nothing last season?
Of course, I am one of those who said I would not be watching AI because I can’t imagine life after Adam, so whatevah.
