American Idol Experience Opens at Disney February 14

The new Disney attraction, “American Idol Experience” opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, FL February 14.

The park is gearing up for the attraction’s debut, and I got a tip about what will be going on behind the scenes prior to the opening:

Cast, Crew and Imagineers are invited to a special preview of The American Idol Experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios(tm) Jan. 5-7, where they can audition for a show that same day or watch the show and vote for their favorite performers.

Auditions will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Shows begin at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Because this preview is part of our test-and-adjust process, it will be open to Cast, Crew and Imagineers only, and show times are subject to change.

Also, starting on Thursday, they will be doing the same thing (test-and-adjust) but will start including park guests, but are not advertising it. Likewise, none of the “Dream Tickets” for the daily winners (passes to skip the line for AI auditions for the winners who are in the age range to audition) will be given until the actual opening date of 2/14. These are all just trial runs.

I’m hoping to have a spywitness present at some of the events for the opening, so stay tuned!

I live in Jacksonville, and Feb 14 is on a saturday. i had already planned to go if it was on the weekend and it is, so i will probably go.

does anyone think it will be slammed pack? do i need to buy tickets for that specific day?

if i go ill bring the vid camera, i just dont know how to go about getting tix for it. Oo, maybe ill try out to? hehe

I don’t know what crowds would be like. It is a holiday weekend so crowds are usually heavier than others at that time of year.

I saw somewhere that this will be the David Cook year at Disneyworld…for a YEAR. Good move and good for David !!!

  • Duke, it probably will be packed, first due to the opening of the new attraction, but like itsalleternal said, also because it’s a holiday weekend (the following Monday is Presidents Day.). I’m actually now kind of nervous that cast members who can normally get people in any day of the year, except on blackout dates, will be blacked out of the Studios on that day (and that’s always my way into the parks) because of those two reasons. At first, I didn’t realize that was Presidents day weekend.

I would say to go ahead and get a ticket for that day if you can. But check around for deals – I want to say that there’s some kind of discount for FL residents if you do multiple days at a time, but if you don’t come to Orlando much, that wouldn’t benefit you. I’d say to just check around for deals still.

Unless cast members are blacked out and my connections can’t get me into the park, I’ll definitely be there at least for the day of the opening.

If you add No Expiration options to the tickets, then the unused days never expire – even if the prices increase.
