I would really hate to think that AI has become Gay vs. Strait Idol! I hope if Kris wins there aren’t a bunch of “Adam lost because he’s Gay, America needs to enter the 21st century” articles and if Adam wins there are “What’s happened to Christianity in America?” articles. I don’t think being gay/strait defines someones faith at all and it shouldn’t be a part of the competition!

I watched it and O’Reilly didn’t really have much to say. He’s virtually an Idol virgin. Accordingly, he has no basis on which to form conclusions. His guest, on the other hand, is an Idol watcher and insinuated that Danny’s Christian voters may rally to Kris since Kris is also Christian. O’Reilly looked bored. You could tell that this story was something that he and his producers felt obligated to “cover” for the sake of network loyalty–and ratings, of course.

Why is he still talking about that shit? You would think he’d want to bury that, or he actually thinks it was any good? Laugh at yourself by all means to temper the embarassment of that horrible performance..once or twice..but he’s still twitting about it one week after?

I’m not impressed by the guys’ remarks of course, but I’m not surprised that they’re being so careful over remarks with just even a sniff of a gay slur, they tripped over their own words, fell, and ended up with both feet in their mouths. Danny, as usual, knew he slipped up, and looked to other people to help him out, in this case Sarver, who had to come up with “Godly way”. Really, Sarver, is that the best you can do? Take lessons on PC public speaking from Adam, or just shut up and grin like Kris would do.

I can sort of understand where the guys might be coming from, as there’s been a recent avalanche of gay-related issues in my local news lately, in main spurred on by local happenings, but American Idol is also being highlighted as adding potential fire to the gay conundrum, and starting a culture war. Also, was it only yesterday/the day before where there were gay protests on what was termed an International Day for Gay Rights? Gay issues are at the forefront of many people’s minds now, just read some of MJ’s blog entries, where sooner or later, peeps would post something with a gay slur on blog entries that did not start out as gay topics.

What I AM shaking my head over is how Danny just digs himself deeper and deeper into that giant mound of shit of his own making just waiting to fall on him . No matter what your background, or what people say, Danny, you’ve got to see that you need to improve your speaking skills. Go and take some business management courses to handle Sophia’s Foundation properly by yourself and a trustworthy group of people, and take up public speaking/public behaviour courses already. Stop relying on/listening to people to help you out of tough situations, take the initiative and handle the situation yourself, even if it’s just by keeping quiet and smiling sheepishly. Good luck, and STOP TOUCHING TEENAGERS! Stick with those of legal age who are not so self-conscious about telling you what they really think.

If only they had used the word “friendly” instead of “right/Godly”, it would have been different (although probably still slightly homophobic, but it’s less judgemental).

Bottom line is we’ve all said and done really dumb things, sometimes in the heat of the moment, sometimes out of naivete, then wished we could’ve rewound the clock. I know I would absolutely hate to have a video of my thoughts shared on a bad day. I’m sure the guys are kicking themselves now. If we could just be flies on the walls there….

To Adam’s credit I’ve not heard one unkind comment or any remark from him that could be deemed innapropriate. He did make that very witty retort to the TMZ “reporter” who asked “are you a friend of…(Dorothy presumably)?” but Adam cut him off and said ”’friend of who…you?” LOLOL.

And I do think the gang was just roughhousing but any over-21 man rough- housing in a physical way with a minor female needs to consider what he is doing and how it will be perceived by others regardless if she is thought of as a little sister. I have a 17-year-old daughter and I would never be okay with some older guy doing that…at all.

I do wonder though – is there anyone here that have their worldview widen by following an AI contestant? This is my first year to follow a contestant or even a celebrity. I never put too much thought into whose music i am listening. I even remembered Michael Jackson fondly – my first concert was MJ’s. I learn so much about gay rights, prop 8, evangelicals etc just by hanging out at the Adam related boards.
