American Idol Pool – Week 1 – Rule change for next week!

Everybody’s a winner in the Mjsbigblog American Idol Pool!

Literally

Congratulations to the 21 first place winners who got all 20 contestant points, plus the bonus points–your names are posted after the jump.   There was one 22nd place winner, and literally hundreds who got the contestant question correct.

So–for that reason, the peeps at Fun Office Pools have changed the rules to make the game more challenging:

American Idol Top 36 pools now limit the maximum points you can put on any one contestant to 7 points until the Top 12 are announced.

Why we made the change? We got a lot of feedback that the first week was just too easy, and it proved out in the voting. 63% of the points were placed on one contestant — and we were already seeing a similar pattern for Week 2. After discussing the options with a few pool commissioners we decided to use a mechanism we had used last year with the Top 24 to limit the max points per contestant. We think it adds to the fun since it forces you to move your points around to at least 3 different people. Once the Top 12 begins, those limitations will be removed and you will be able to put points anywhere you want.

Let the games begin!

  • dahirsh:

Quick question since this is my first time playing, if I enter picks now can they be changed up till the week’s pool closes?

  • elisad:

    Nice change~LOL~

  • tinawina:

Yeah, I guess you needed to do that. LOL.

  • yes dahirsh. You can enter your picks now and then change them after you see the show if you so desire. Just don’t forget to change them! Right primeminister? :)

  • dahirsh:

Thank you. Might go ahead and enter something now just in case I completely forget next week

  • How do I participate in the pool for next week?

  • CRB:

Sounds like a good change. Danny for 20 was just too freaking easy.

  • pj:

Smart change. It’ll make the game more fun.

  • Duke:

Deff a needed change. Good call FOP.

  • Hoppy:

I got the 20 points and I didn’t even put them all on Danny. LOL. (I put 10 on Alexis.)

Although I am already starting the trend that I had with SYTYCD this summer. I get the actual picks right (and even picked Joshua to win from week 1), but I always miss at least 1 of the bonus questions! Usually both. Rarrrr.

  • primeminister:

    Right, Sarah :)

A word of advice to all the newbies: Don’t try to piss people off by putting points on Nick/Norman or you may forget to change them! :)

  • dahirsh:

there’s a way to see what other people are polling?

  • Tony:

I’m in 3rd place (better known as 23rd place, lol). I got one of the bonus questions wrong :(

  • KrazeeK120:

I think it’s way too hard now. Having to choose all three contestants correctly to get points is really hard! I kind of think that you should have to choose 2 correctly. But that’s JMO.

Also, I hate bonus questions that are pure chance like guessing the gender of the first person put through or how many will be told they won’t go through before someone gets in. I never get those right and I lose so many points on them.
