American Idol Recovers 7% from Last Week’s Inauguration Audience

Fast overnight ratings from The Hollywood Reporter:

“Loser” bowed to “American Idol” at 8 p.m. (25 million, 9.6/24), with the singing competition recovering 7% from last Tuesday’s Inauguration Day drop. Yet NBC’s weight loss series surged at 9 p.m. to overtake “Fringe” (12.1 million, 4.8/11) despite its powerful lead-in. “Fringe” climbed a couple of tenths from last week to post a new second-best rating this season.

Idol recovered a bit from last Tuesday. However, if the final numbers aren’t higher (and they may be once DVR watching is factored in) it’s still lower than any audition episode for Seasons 5, 6 or 7

There’s also this:

NCIS delivered an audience of 19 million viewers against “American Idol, ” its third best viewer delivery ever and posted gains in key demos compared to its last first-run broadcast, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Tuesday, Jan. 27.

CBS is holding up really well against Idol on Tuesdays…
