Holy Crap, the kids are singing Katy Perry’s “Hot and Cold”! No choregraphy for the boys, though. Scott will totally ruin pointy pose fun if he advances tonight. Damn! The girls dance around the boys who sit in chairs doing some seriously hilarious jazz hands… VIDEO

Tonight’s hidden audition:Â Who cares?
The recap of last night’s performances included Jorge’s emotional lapse into Spanish–helpfully sub-titled tonight.
Contestant chat! Nate says he wouldn’t change anything about last night’s performance. Jorge is freezing in the 78 degree weather of Los Angeles. Felicia was pleased with her performance last night. And Junot talked about his asthma attack earlier today. – VIDEO
Lil Rounds is called down to the stage. TPTB decide to advance their favorite first rather than last this week. Of course, Lil is the first to advance to the Top 12. She does her Mary J. Blige thang from last night. – VIDEO
Arianna Afsar, Taylor Vaifanua, Alex Wagner-Trugman, Kendall Beard and Scott MacIntyre are asked to stand up. One of them is through to the next round…after the break. A couple audience members shout “Scott!”- VIDEO
Ryan eliminates Arianna, Taylor and Alex one by one. Kendall Beard and Scott MacIntyre are left. And Scott MacIntyre is the one who prevails. Scott hugs Kendall and Alex before he reprises “Mandolin Rain.” – VIDEO
After the break, Ryan asks Nathaniel Marshall and Kristen McNamara–still together–to stand. Kristen is so nervous, she begins to head towards the stage. And both are still together as they are eliminated. Von Smith and Felicia Barton are asked to stand up. Why is Ryan badgering Von? Both are eliminated. Felicia looks really disappointed. – VIDEO.
Jorge Nunez and Junot Joyner are asked to take the stage. One of them is going to the Top 12. Ryan says, “We’ll find out…right now. Reverse fake out! And it’s Jorge Nunez. He’s totally shocked. More babbling in espanol! – VIDEO
The wildcard picks are next. But first, the Top 12 so far are introduced: Danny Gokey, Michael Sarver, Alexis Grace, Allison Iraheta, Adam Lambert, Kris Allen, Lil Rounds, Scott MacIntyre and Jorge Nunez.
Kids from Week 1 and Week 2 are waiting in the Red Room: Megan Corkrey, Nick Mitchell, Brent Keith, Tatiana Del Toro, Matt Breitske, Ricky Braddy, Jesse Langseth, Jackie Tohn, Matt Giraud, Anoop Desai and Jasmine Murray
Simon thinks the wildcard system is totally fair. They claim to have changed their mind on somebody during the break.
Each judge takes turns announcing one wildcard pick, starting with Randy, then Kara, Paula and Simon. The word “we” is thrown around quite a bit–the judges aren’t claiming them as personal picks. After the wildcard is revealed, Jorge Nunez sings us out…

Well, personally, I find it incredibly unfair to judge someone based on a DUI charge. We all make mistakes. I don’t really think it’s fair to decide not to vote for someone in a singing competition because they made a mistake a couple of years ago. To compare her to Britney Spears because of that single incident… well, that’s a bit of a stretch, imo.
Yeah, I agree. I personally think that Fantasia is one of a kind- she has flaws, but she’s one of a kind. She’s in a different league from the rest of the “divas.” And Nadia wasn’t even anything like the rest of them, so people who put her in that block don’t know what they’re talking about. J-Hud and Melinda were fantastic. And Paris was so cute and Vonzell seemed sweet. Syesha, LaToya, and Lekisha left me cold, so yeah… everyone is different. Maybe even Kelly and Kat can be put in the “diva” category, because they belted R&B songs didn’t they? But oh, wait! They’re white, so they don’t count right? :rolleyes_tb:
But Lil is the WEAKEST one of them all, as far as vocals are concerned. I think she can sing better than Trenyce, and maybe Paris, but that’s about it. That’s my problem with Lil. She’s like LaToya with a weaker voice- but they’re treating her like she’s the 2nd coming of Tasia, which she’s NOT. I would’ve taken Felicia or Kristen over her to be honest. Oh well.
I personally find Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers (I’ve seen them live!) horrible singers. But whatever, I’m getting off topic.
I rewatched the videos and I do realize Anoop didn’t look too excited when he made it. I just remembered today that it’s the anniversary of Eve Carson’s murder. He was probably thinking of that.
Jesse’s good, but I’m not won over yet. I still rather have others make it over her. And I’m still pulling for Matt Giraud. I seem to have a thing for the Justin Timberlake-like contestants. (Even though I don’t really like Timberlake himself) In Season 6 Chris Richardson was one of my favorites.
I want Anoop and Matt G to make it. And I want them to have a twist so we can have a Top 13, so Megan and Ricky can also make it.
But one thing I still don’t get. They brought Tatiana over Normund?!?!?!
oh, I suddenly feel the need to send you a sympathy card.
Wish you were here at MJ’s back then. I could have used the backup LOL.
I too prefer the funny brand of crazy over the clinical kind when it comes to my tv entertainment. I guess it’s a matter of taste though, and the producers obviously have a different perception of what is fun tv than we do.
I like Jesse. And I continue to be amazed at the arrogance and judgmentalism of Americans. She does have a DUI and that is terrible. But, honestly, when I was younger I drove a few times after having a few drinks. I shudder to think about it now. For all I know, she had her wake-up call. If there were the internet, digital cameras and cell phones, I KNOW I’d have an inappropriate pic or two out there too. You know, some people just get exposed. But for all I know, they are all good people.
So many stone throwers with Idol. Maybe that’s why so many have turned away from all the holier than thou format.
If we get 13 or 14 tonight, I’m just done watching. I’ll dvr and just watch what I want. The ratings for another 2 hour show with 14 people getting a minute or two to sing and no time for the judges is going to take another plummet in the ratings.
I’m pulling for Matt G, though I had no love for Chris Richardson back in Season 6. If Matt starts claiming the breathiness and out-of-tune runs are forms of singing, I’m getting the heck off the Matt train.
I’m kind of hoping Matt is more Elliott than Chris Rich, but maybe that’s asking too much.
Perhaps you had a few fleeting bouts of “arrogance and judgementalism” yourself now or then?……..oh, when you were “younger,” of course!…. :wink_ee:
I wish that Ju’not Joyner and Kai Kalama had been brought back for the wildcards. I really liked them. : (
I don’t care about her past sins, but I’d like Jesse a lot better if she’d shut up when she’s done singing. The ‘tude cancels out the enjoyment for me. If she would just do that I would even vote for her.
Oh yes-you’ve hit on one of my big Idol pet peeves.
I will respond to both at once. Never did my comment say I would not vote for her. I am sure I won’t for her, but it is because I don’t love her singing.
My point was that Driving drunk is horribly irresponsible and has devastated families I know with lifelong repercussions for them and very few for the offender. That is neither arrogant or judgmental. It is a fact. Brittney Spears has been a disaster for a while, although kudos to her, she seems to be turning her life around at the moment. I am sorry to have offended you.
I thought the same thing! I especially liked Kai.
In the talk about Divas, I always felt Nadia was in a class of her own. She was so unpredictable. We had no idea what she would wear or the song she would choose. Some of her numbers were closer to Rock (or Rock /n Roll) than the declared Rock chicks.
I really am not sure where Lil will go with her singing. I will admit her back story moves me more than some.
