No, I do not have any song spoilers yet.
Although there have been the usual rumors and speculation about what the Idols will be singing when they take the stage tonight. The theme (as I reported Friday) is Top Downloads. Pretty vague theme, no? Paula called it “#1 Downloads” in a recent radio interview, but the theme could be broader than just #1s. We’ll find out soon enough.
Peeps have been yacking about song choices and mulling over the rumors in this thread all week. Let’s continue the discussion here while we wait for dress rehearsal spoilers.

Sweet! Anoop should do great with “Caught Up” and it will be a real crowd pleaser. Bring it, Anoop!
I’m really interested to see what Alison does with “Don’t Speak.” She has the potential to win me over with this one if she pulls it off.
Eh, of course they’ve put Matt toward the end of the show AGAIN. He’s been toward the end every time except last week.
I wonder if Adam or Kris will get the pimp spot. My money’s on Adam since Kris’s low key style might be lost after Adam performs.

Allison and Anoop are doing what they were told to do. Paula requested that Allison show a more vulerable side; there is not many songs that could do that better than Dont Speak. Anoop got the more up tempo request from both Randy and paula, IIRC; Caught Up is up tempo enough without getting to out there. Both songs ae perfect choices to get at least a couple of judges thinking very positive going into the performance.
Looks like they are trying to squelch Megan, if Allison and Danny nail their performances, Megan’;s won’t even be a memory to most viwers. And Scott is in the real death spot, especially if Adam goes after him.
Something tell me Lil is getting another pimp slot. Her AI forum folder is more pitiful than Syesha’s was last year. She’s getting almost no online buzz unless it’s Simon saying she’s his pick for top girl. My thinking is her vote numbers were not all that much higher than Megan’s and they cannot have Simon’s pick off before Megan.

Maybe Miley is on the show to show the contestants that what Simon and Kara have both said is true. You don’t need to have any singing talent to make it big in music.
“Ain’t No Sunshine”? Kris would be great with that, but then what’s the fershlugenner theme this week? songs that people would have downloaded a whole lot if there had been downloading in the 1970s? Or am I missing something, did someone do a recent cover of the Bill Withers tune?

Huh? You know, I love Adam but every week he just picks songs I don’t like. Maybe he has remixed this one and made it cool, but I just can’t imagine, with all the current stuff he had to choose from, he chose that fossil.

Adam has been number 5, and 8 and 11. He has not had the pimp spot since the actual show started.
Adam will not be in the top half of the show because then people would switch channels. It’s the same reason David Cook (or I suspect Blake in season 6) was rarely in the top half of the show. Most people who watch Idol don’t vote and don’t have OMG!!11!! eleventy boyfriends for the season. They watch to see the show. Right now Adam is the show. The way to change that is for a different contestant to generate their own buzz. Until that happens get used to frustration. Ratings matter a whole lot more than fair to Idol.

Well all I can say is that if the song choices are true, if nothing else, Anoop should get credit for choosing a song from this century. Though they’ll probably slate him.
I think Kris will sound great, but in a week where people have the opportunity to be “current” I think they should deduct points if they go to these old safe songs *cough* Scott *cough*
