American Idol Season 8 Update: Paula’s Favs, Plus Fox Cameras Visit Michael Sarver’s Hometown

According to a Michael Sarver fan blog, FOX was filming a segment at Michael’s hometown church in Texas. Right now, Michael is in Hollywood–maybe getting ready for the semi finals?
We’re told services at Harvest Church today were filled with a nervous energy, as reporters and TV crew watched from behind the scenes. Michael wasn’t there, as expected. Michael’s in-laws were in the service, but were tight lipped about him, as were most church members. But we did confirm that he’s in Hollywood right now.
Anyway, we can see how such a musical talent feels at home here. One reporter remarked that the darkened lights, live band and loud music made her feel like she was in a night club .. and isn’t that really the kind of church we’d all like to be in?
It turns out the cameras were from Fox 26 in Houston. Either that or a ploy by Idol to fake us out .. not that any of us would believe the producers would do such a thing…
And, according to Joesplace, Paula Abdul told the folks at TV Guide that her Top 3 contestants are Adam Lambert, Danny Gokey and Ricky Braddy.
Adam and Danny have been featured prominently in the auditions and Hollywood so far. Ricky Braddy hasn’t been seen at all. (Here’s his Hollywood Week AI Video) Maybe that will change this week…

Paula picks the winners the same way I always know who’s going to win the super bowl by the second week of the preseason. I write it in a note to myself, that no one else gets to read, and by golly, I’m always right LOL.

Is it only me or could Ricky Braddy and Matt Giraud be twins?? I think maybe that the guy I liked during Hollywood week last week was Ricky rather than Matt?? I remember thinking that this dude (Matt) was MUCH better than his audition. Now I’m thinking it was really Ricky that they showed. Go check out their videos on the AI site and tell me I’m crazy.
I don’t think Ricky has been shown in Hollywood yet.
Are you talking about the guy singing “I Want You Back” in the first group performance during Hollywood week? That was definitely Matt. His name was mentioned at least twice.
I wanted to like Ricky Braddy (well, mainly because I love being surprised by the “silent ones” every year) but that song almost put me to sleep.
this guy has a nice voice…cant wait to see what he does on the show.
I find it believable that Paula has picked most of the winners. It makes sense that she didn’t announce her picks, as that would be showing favoritism which she doesn’t do as much as Simon does.
Paula might be a bit eccentric but she’s a sweet person and bottom line, she knows music. She knows music in her bones and her heart, unlike Simon who seems to know it more as a money-making venture. I remember Paula complimenting DC many times with great enthusiasm last season. If anyone gets it wrong most of the time (with predictions) it’s Simon. He’s known for that. He’s also the one who says “no” to sending the eventual winners or top finalists to Hollywood. He didn’t “get” DC, Daughtry, or Kelly for starters.
My point is, I believe Paula and don’t think she’s making it up about picking the winners. She’s got good intuition when it comes to music, I think.
Its about time we are able to hear from this guy…Ricky Braddy can SING!… I love his tone! …its so pure!! Now we know he can sing a ballad!! I want to hear him sing some upbeat stuff too though!
Well the song pretty much sucks. But, he’s got a beautiful voice. I couldn’t listen to the complete song, either.
Eleanor Rigby is the first time I remember Paula publicly predicting David would win. She says she’s been telling everyone the he’s the “dark horse” at about 3:35 in this video.

I like Ricky’s voice, but it was hard to focus on it since the song was so boring. Hopefully he’ll get a chance to show us some personality in his singing before long.
I guess Paula’s made her Top 3 prediction public for this year. Now we just have to remember it when the end of the season rolls around.
I don’t think Paula predicted the top 3 yet did she? She just said they were her favorites, or did I misread it?
No one knows what Paula wrote on her notarized paper. Hehe.
I only listened to like half of the song, cause that was quite boring. But the voice was OK. Not gonna judge someone by a studio song though, live is what matters.
Hope we get to see him this week.
