It’s definitely beautifully sung. Anoop’s tone is lovely’“I always thought he sounded very pretty on the show, but I didn’t really appreciate how soulful his voice was until listening to some of his Clef Hangers videos when I suppose he was more relaxed than he ever was on the show.

I really enjoy Matt’s tone a well’“it’s not exactly beautiful, but it’s gritty and interesting.

However, tone-wise, I prefer Adam and Allison for sheer beauty and fascination. What you prefer in voices is completely a matter of personal taste, of course, so it’s not like I’m right and you’re wrong, but I find the tone of their voices to be astonishingly beautiful and not quite like any voices I’ve heard before, especially Adam’s. Being able to listen to them sing the same songs over and over again and still be surprised every time is something I’ve experienced with only a handful of other singers in my life. Kris’s tone is less unusual, but it’s still what I like most after these two.

Tone is definitely a matter of different strokes for different boats. Cause Adam’s tone grates on me. And I know a lot of people find it cringe-worthy, but then some people go crazy over it. Whattaya gonna do.

Whenever I listen to Danny, I have the intense urge to clear my throat. I just cough and clear it over and over. That happened toward the end of Matt’s song and a bit of Allison. I can’t stand that feeling.

I think Matt is a phenomenal singer. GREAT soulful voice that at the same time can sound very current.
    His vocals are amazing.
I think he will be very successful down the road. Can’t wait to see him live. And can’t wait to buy his records because I am sure he will be the next signed.

Kind of a random comment, but Anoop is the only one that can put me to sleep, and I mean that in a good way! I listen to his ballads every night before I go to bed, and I sleep like a baby. His voice is just so soothing and relaxing.

Same! Just put it on repeat and I’m good. And I cannot listen to music or any type of noise while trying to sleep, except for his music lol. I mean, I don’t do it every night, but sometimes I have trouble sleeping.. so if I’m still awake when my parent’s alarm goes off, I can listen to his music :]

Music to sleep by….a backhand compliment if I ever heard one! :wink1_tb:

I have to admit I really have only watched video from Matt and a couple of Adam’s so this is the first time that I have watched Lil, Anoop, Michael, Megan, and Scott.

Michael- He seems like such a sweetheart and his voice is nice. I thought he took good command of the stage but he really doesn’t have much charisma.

Megan- Beautiful girl but I’m sorry she is not a good vocalist. I could only bring myself to watch 20 seconds of her video.

Scott- Scott reminds me of Air Supply. He has a wispy light voice. It wasn’t terrible but at the same time nothing to write home about either.

Lil- Like Megan she is a beautiful girl. She is a better vocalist than Megan but for some reason I always find her voice flat and out of tune.

Anoop- He sings ballads well but that’s about it. Like I said earlier he has a pleasant voice but he is very bland. While watching the video I glanced at the time I had left and was surprised that only a minute and a half went by. It felt like I had been watching the video for much longer than that. I don’t see Anoop becoming the next huge R&B singer.

Yeah totally! Me, a huge anoop fan, was giving him a backhand compliment. Nice deductive work!

  • lakers24:

Liasdpride, I understand Anoop’s not your thing, but he doesn’t just sing ballads. He’s very versatile and can sing anything. You obviously haven’t seen any of his pre-idol material. He’s awesome at rapping too! He is so talented and has so much potential!

thanks for putting these up. It’s interesting to see how the beginning of the show works.

Michael was better than I thought he’d be. If he’d really pushed the country sound on the show, maybe he would have done better.

Megan–what a bummer to come out to that much silence. I feel for her; I don’t think she has music in her future. I hope she’s banking some money and the time away from her son is worth it.

Scott–I like that song, but the original and the David Archuleta version are both more entertaining.

Anoop–Like on the show. No surprise there but not wow’ed either.

Matt–now–there’s a wow. Maybe if he’d made it to rock and roll week we would have seen more of that!

ETA–Lil. I forgot about her! Not too much of an impression. This is a far better version of that song–

These were fantastic videos. What a treat to see them. I was surprised at how well Scott did. I enjoyed his performance.

I will have to give kudos to Megan. For someone who started out never performing in front of anyone and never holding a microphone, she has come a long, long way.

My favorite part of Matt’s performance is his piano playing. He can really make those keys move.

I love Anoop’s voice and if he puts out a CD, I’ll be first in line. His voice is the only one, besides Kris, that I would put out money to buy their CD.

  • Sherena:

Anoop’s voice is so smoooooooooth. It’s so gorgeous. I want an album full of ballads from him, even though he seems to like the uptempo songs more. And Matt’s so much better than he was on the show– I thought he was a waste of the wild card and save (that should’ve been Allison darnit) but now I’m reconciled. Sarver has a nice voice too, but no stage presence.

  • iluvai:

I don’t think I’ve ever posted anything about Anoop on this blog. But I am very excited to see him in 6 days!!! I know Matt has gotten a lot of fan support, at least here anyway, so I just want to say, although I’m an Adam nut, I’m looking forward to Anoop sweeping me off my feet with his ballads. Plus he is super cute, looks a little like my first husband (who is Persian) and you gotta love the beautiful brown eyes. Okay, so now I’m back to loving my theatrical, adorable Adam. Who has beautiful blue eyes. LOL!!!

August 8th, Newark NJ!!!! Can’t wait.

  • iluvai:

Oh also. My ex hubbie’s parents totally doted on their three kids. It’s actually very sweet and I love the support that Anoop’s family gives to him. I chuckle.. go to college, okay, now you can be a rock star!!!

  • glamfan:

the thing i love most about matt is his riffs.

  • Renina:

The things I love most about Matt are his Voice (that souldful, edgy, unique tone) his riffs and effortless falsetto, his obvious love and passion for his music, his unrivaled (at least of the ones on this tour) piano playing skills, his style and swagger, his sense of humor, his charm, those dimples and freckles (too cute) and even his curly faux hawk is growing on me.

As you May be able to tell, I just love me some Matty G :wub_tb:

  • Great videos. Nice camera work & the sound wasn’t muffled considering how close you were. I’m glad security didn’t mind that you were recording. Sometimes they can be real brutes enforcing the “no video” rule.

  • Pam:

All of these vids are fantastic MJ! I knew you wouldn’t disappoint. You never do. Thank you for taking the time to post them. :)

Renina, I like Matt alot. I really, really, do. He wowed me with his set…a definate showman! But I had to laugh at the “effortless falsetto” comment because I think Matt’s falsetto is anything but effortless. It’s one of the things I think he struggles.

In fact, in Greensboro, he was singing the last song in his set and he went up into the falsetto and he actually did it well (my sister and I had previously seen two shows). My sister and I both, at the same time, turned and looked at each other with shocked expressions, and said at the same time…”he did good that time.” :lol_wp:

  • hwc:

    Thanks, MJ.

This is the first time I’ve sat and watched a few seconds of each performer from this year’s tour.

  • Lera:

I don’t understand why Matt Giraud didn’t bring this to the AI stage….holy cow does he rock! WHY MATT DID YOU HIDE this side of you?
