2nd Update: More on Matt-gate HERE. Also, a bunch of peeps are in an uproar because Adam skipped the after show bus swarm last night, tweeting that he had a headache. Every year it’s the same deal, this Idol or that Idol is rude by the buses, and it’s always much ado about nothing. All these guys owe me for the price of my ticket is a good performance once they hit the stage.
UPDATE: Kris Allen performed “All These Things That I’ve Done” (iTunes) by the Killers, on electric guitar, in place of “No Boundaries”. Twitter reports give the new song a thumbs up! – VIDEO.

This is my first chance to check out vids from this tour, and I was really curious about the Killers cover and Adam’s Bowie medley.
Oh boy. I dig Kris big time, but that Killers cover? Just no. All These Things is a huge, HOOOGE fave of mine and started my love affair with Killers music, so I wanted to love Kris for picking it. But the song doesn’t suit him musically at all and because it doesn’t suit him, it comes off as a pale immitation of the original. Reminded me that something about Kris and an electric guitar never felt right on the show as opposed to Kris and the piano or acoustic guitar. *is sad* The Killers’ lovely cover of Dire Strait’s Romeo and Juliet would work so much better for Kris if he had his heart set on paying tribute to The Killers.
Adam’s Bowie medley, conversely, fits him to a T. I was dying to hear him cover Life On Mars on AI and figured he’d kill it, but gah the way his voice just slithers around those lyrics…. I want to hear him sing the whole song really badly now. Almost makes me want to shell out money for a concert of cover tunes. Almost. Hopefully he’ll include the cover when he does solo gigs eventually.

But this happened last year between the Davids. The Lil’ David being quite popular compared with the others. But then again, he was the only one who came out every, single time.

I kind of know what you mean. Love Muse and Adam’s cover is just No. For someone who isn’t Killers die hard fan, I loved Kris’ cover.
i am surprised Matt was rude. i met him at the after party in oakland, and he was by far one of the most friendly to his fans.
It’s ridiculous to say “if Adam really wanted to come out he would have” and that his handlers don’t control him that much. Do you work there? Nobody knows what goes on behind the scenes. I personally feel it’s dangerous for him to go out at all. Any nut job can be out there. Not to mention it’s rude and demanding to insist that ANY entertainer “owes” anybody anything other than what they do on the stage.
If you believe that some 8 year old girl WHO WANTED TO GO HOME AND WAS TIRED cared about the stupid letter then I have a pair of Adam Lambert’s boxers to sell you.

IF YOU CARE ABOUT ADAM LAMBERT LEAVE HIM ALONE. OTHERWISE YOU’LL FIND HIM SURROUNDED BY 10 BODYGUARDS AND UNABLE TO LIVE ANY SORT OF LIFE AT ALL.
Agreed. My take on the Killers song is – it’s WAY better than NoBo but then the standard is pretty low, because just about anything up to and including Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (and I bet Kris could do a killer cover of that
) would be better than NoBo. But his vibe does not strike me as the right one for the Killers, and since he doesn’t mix it up as much as, say, the Heartless cover, it doesn’t completely work. But it’s still way better than NoBo.
Adam, otoh, works very well for both the Bowie Medley and Starlight – I think both are the perfect style for him.
This is one reason why I very rarely get up the nerve to actually go up and meet celebrities for those autograph events – I just feel way too guilty about pestering them, taking up their time, bugging them for trivial stuff, especially in the context of the AI tour, which is so grueling and draining. I never ever want to be one of those crazy fans who gets in his face and acts crazy. I’d rather just leave him alone and enjoy what he gave me during the concert, than become like that.
In reference to Matt-gate…a similar situation happened at LA Staples center last year. There were some rabid Castro fans frothing at the mouth when Chikezie came out to greet us. He was dripping with sweat as it was over 100 degrees, yet he graciously spent time working the crowd. As soon as he made his way to Castroville, they all began asking if he could “go get Jason”. He was so annoyed and upset that he said something to the effect of “are you kidding me?” and then stopped signing autographs and taking pics. In this case, I do not blame him. The only reason I am referencing this story is because it probably happens ALL the time. This incident may have been amongst a long line of other similar requests. Unfortunately, Matt didn’t let the fact that it was from a little girl sink in before he made his remark. The only thing that bugs, is that if it had been Adam that had done that…it would be a HUGE deal. Because Matt was further down the line, it is kind of understandable…and it really shouldn’t be. It sounds like an unfortunate occurence. I hope Matt learned his lesson. I’m sure he has…as he seems to REALLY care about what people think of him.
Better get really large ones, you’ll need need them to block the sound,LOL!
