I was there last night. I missed the first few songs (and Blake’s janitorial debut ;-) due to traffic (waaah!). Who puts on shows at 7:00pm on a MONDAY night going to Downtown LA with construction nightmares? (end rant)

    Thoughts:
    * Blake had the biggest cheering section throughout the night. It was a pity that he only did a few songs in the second half. The crowd was craving more.

    * Melinda should have done more duets. I think by being third, she should have had at least two songs in a row. Alas, will we ever see the Killing Me Softly duet with Blake? That would be amazing.

    * Lakisha got the standing O for I Will Always Love You, but you could tell her voice was starting to fatigue. Conversely, everyone else seemed to have strong, full voices last night.

    * Chris was back to his “nasal is a form of singing” last night. But he certainly had lots of fans in the house.

    * Sadly, Haley got the least amount of cheers. But she looked nice.

    * Phil’s America the Beautiful was the highlight of the night. His voice is just amazing, lots of wonderful technique and gorgeous timbre.

    * I craved more banter with the audience. I feel we had more last year.

    * Definitely let down by the “recap” finale. I would have preferred a song that they all could have had fun with. Last year, Living in America, though not a song I love, was a blast to watch.

    * Can’t wait for a Blake concert. He can tear the house down with his vocal percussion. I appreciate his musicianship. As well as Chris Sligh’s guitar playing!

    * The free TV Guide magazines were really great! Lots of inside scoop and cute pictures.

    * They need to get some better designed merchandise for the tour.

Has this been discussed: will there be an AI compilation CD this year? Or did that project get tanked due to the instant MP3’s?

Mellimel, thanks for the recap. I felt the same way as you did about the encore when I saw the show in Tampa. I wanted a new group number, complete with a cheesy pointy pose at he the end.

I was there at the LA show!! woo!
I was so excited to see the seats I got from stubhub.com. Much thanks to them, otherwise I wouldnt have been able to go..

I really was looking hard for Blake in his costume, and of course the crowd got excited when the opening number started. It was good, but I wasnt paying so much attention because Blake and Jordin, my favs, both soon exited the stage.
    Phil’s Blaze of Glory killed.
Sanjaya’s The Way You Make Me Feel was as good as it could have been for his voice, I think. His dances moves were cute though. He has a great personality.
Haley’s When God fearin’ women get the blue was alright. She and Sanjaya were the weakest of the night.
Chris Slighs Typical was very good.
    Gina was also very good.
Surprises of the night: Gina, Chris sligh, chris rich
Blake was, of course, awesome. The sound mix was having problems during she will be loved, but time of the season and you give love a bad name rocked the house.
Phils America songs were beautiful. The mix of patriotism and vocals were stunning.
The guys idol band and lakishas i will always love you were the highlights of the night.
Jordin came on for her solos and proved why she won. She did great in all of them
Most applause: Jordin, Blake, Chris Rich & Lakisha in that order

Overall, loved the show and had fun every minute.

Thanks for the recaps, melliemel and Kelly!

I must not forget to pick up the TV guide thing this time. TOTALLY forgot to grab it when I was in Tampa. I guess I was too excited. lol. :)
