A poster at Vote for The Worst found a bunch of pictures online (supposedly taken at Burning Man) of Adam Lambert kissing another guy (Gasp!). Dave posted them on the front page, and of course they’re spreading across the ‘net like wildfire.
It irks me that this sort of thing is a big deal in the first place.
It appears that, as far as the vast American viewing audience is concerned, gays on TV are fine, as long as they’re boy-next-door tolerable like the button-down lawyer on Will and Grace. But those like Adam who are OUT and out there…maybe not so much.
Gah, I would love to be proven wrong.
PS:Â Kudos on the color coordinated hair and makeup! I mean, seriously, what’s not to like here?

I think it will die down. In the end, I think talent will prevail. Plus he seems to be a nice person. The other idols seem to really like him, which is an indication to me that he is genuine. People will rally to him like they have tonight on all sites I have visited. He may not win, but his talent will get him at least into the top 5. .
Also keep in mind Von and Nate are coming up tomorrow. I think it is safe to say they are both gay. I believe one of them will also make the top 12.
It’s turning out to be a interesting season. I’m not really happy that this happened, but there’s no putting the toothpaste back in the tube.

If he gets booted off and not voted off then he will have lawyers lining up to take his case.

American Idol might be a family show, but guess what. In every family there is a gay person. Maybe closeted, or maybe they are the relative that the family whispers about, why aunt ida, or uncle will never married, etc, maybe even out and proud, but there is probably no family in America that doesn’t have a gay relative, whether it’s a cousin, second cousin. That is just the way it is.
ETA: If there is porn, of course he will get the boot. I mean porn of any kind would be the kiss of death for any contestant. As it should be. But why do you think that Adam has porn out there?
Good question. A few harmless Burning Man pics hardly suggests the likelihood of a porn video. I can’t imagine someone who’s successful on the LA theater scene needing to do porn… unless they just wanted to do it. Adam doesn’t strike me as someone who would risk that.
But yeah, that would kill the deal. I doubt the producers would have let him go this far AND still be a favorite. And you know they know everything. Even if they pretend they don’t.
This isn’t about Adam’s private life. These photos were taken on the street, in front of photographers, not in his bedroom. Adam is an exhibitionist in his lifestyle and his musical theatre style, so yeah, I think there are lots of porn vids out there and it’s just a matter of time before they surface.
As much as I like him, I don’t know how far he can last in this competition. The further he gets to the crown, the more will come out. It will be an interesting season, to say the least. LOL

I don’t forsee much of a scandal beyond the pics being posted and talked about online. There’s nothing about the pictures that will bother AI as long as the guy he is tongue kissing isn’t 15 years old.
I disagree with the person who says VFTW exists to “destroy people”. That seems a bit dramatic. To snark is not to destroy. Who have they ruined? Nobody. They just aren’t very reverent of AI or the chosen ones from the show. It isn’t everybody’s cup of tea there but it’s hardly some evil, horrible place and most posters there seem pretty nice as long as you don’t fantard or troll. *shrug*

I was one that didn’t like his tongue coming out like it did when he’d sing the glory notes, but I never thought his tongue would become an issue associated with….er….”the pictures.” Adam! I knew that tongue was going to get you in trouble!, lol. Seriously though, imo this latest buzz with picture proof will probably bring him down if the buzz gets big enough and loud enough. He’s certainly a good singer and entertainer, but I don’t think “the family show” will be too happy about this if/when it gets out of hand. I can see damage control brainstorming sessions going on in the background with TPTB even as we discuss this. Good point about the Disney association Lera, I hadn’t thought of that until you mentioned it. It’s going to be VERY interesting to watch all of this play out.

I would say AI isn’t ready for a Gay winner; however, they may play this out well into the TOP 5.
Adam is sure pretty. Adorable.
Maybe. But, what about the opposite, wouldn’t it be worse for him to scurry around trying to erase any evidence of who he is? That hits me as the anti-Adam, not to mention the very thing that causes a great deal more backlash in the end (see Clay, David Hernandez, Antonella, etc…) While he may have underestimated the bigotry still prevalent in the US, I don’t equate that as exhibitionism, or even unequivocal indifference on his part. I, for one, am proud and happy for him that he is comfortable being himself, and that he has at times enjoyed the freedom to express himself and who he loves, openly.
As for Disney… I seem to remember that Disney received and withstood A LOT of heat (including boycotting) a decade or so ago because they provided health benefits to employees and their “partners.” Disney, IIRC, publicly broke new ground a bit on that issue. I’m not saying that this is the same, I’m simply noting that Disney is not naive, and historically, have not been total bigots.

Even if a sex tape does show up (and I highly doubt it), anything Adam did in his personal life would not be grounds for disqualification. Take Antonella from Season 6, those racy pics were private ones taken by her boyfriend. Therefore the show had no issue with them.
I think that if there was porn out there they would know by now also, Like they did with that black woman a few seasons back, Frenchie? Was that her name? At least I hope so because that most definitely would be too much for me too for sure. I hope something like that doesnt pop up because I sure do like him, so far

OH YES, thats right, I remember the big stink back when they started doing this, a certain church group was sending out emails and all sorts of literature demanding that people ban Disneyland because they sponsored gays. So, yes, MJ you are right they are not homophobic.

To me, taking down pictures from a website you intend to be viewed by friends but the public has access to, is real different from backing into the closet. I think if he’d taken down the pictures it wouldn’t have been hidding; it would have been protecting his privacy/his kissing partner’s privacy.

I have been thinking about this and why, just because a person is gay, does that mean they have done porno? The roles he has portrayed in the theater werent even created by him, he played these roles. There are sickos out there gay or straight that do porno but a lot of people still think that because someones lifestyle is crazy or different than theirs that they must be a sicko and up to doing porno so, look out it is a comin? He just might have filmed himself and a lover privately like a lot of people do for themselves but i dont think he seems likely to be into porno? I sure hope I am not proved wrong and that if he does have some personal stuff out there it stays personal.

Those particular photos didn’t bother me. However, the semi-professional photo shoot taken at the World War II Memorial had me up in arms. Yes, I did write a couple Emails protesting those photos. Common sense and respect were the issue.
The photos we have seen of Adam and his (ex)boyfriend do not bother me.

I honestly doubt Adam’s done any porn. There are plently of people who have taken pictures kissing their boyfriend/girlfriend and the majority of them haven’t, either. The pictures don’t make it any more likely that he has or hasn’t.
I’m not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but Adam removed 12 pictures from his account today. At least some of them were the ones with Brad. I wonder if that was his decision or TPTB. I’m guessing it’s the latter.

Idol is not going to get rid of Adam because he is gay. Who the heck cares if he is, he is happy so why does it matter? The show is about singing, there have been other gay contestants and they were not told to leave.
