  • Love Anoop! Definitely raised the SAT score of the average AI contestant.
Cool that he thinks of AI now as a life lesson. Bet that he has always succeeded in life, and has had few defeats or disappointments, so he has not needed to learn how to bounce back, as he put it. With this very subjective show, it has probably been a challenge for him to not come out on top when he is doing what he perceives as “his best”. Looking forward to seeing him on tour.

  • Isnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t there any way to separate the two of them? Anoop is so much more interesting. Maybe he can make an appearance on the Ellen Show or Letterman. I want to hear more from him!

I think they’ll both be on Ellen but it would be nice to have Anoop alone. She really liked Anoop early on so you never know what may happen in the future.

I finally got to listen to the first 2 interviews. Loved hearing Anoop. I really think he did learn a lot from being on the show. As someone who bought all his recordings, he really does have a sound that would play well now so hope he gets a chance. I actually think his voice was just as good on the fast songs other than Beat It. The recordings of Caught Up and the latest ones are really good and I have his live version of My Prerogative. I think the problem became that he was overthinking after Beat It with very bad comments and then Caught Up not going over with the judges either although the vocals were good. I don’t think he always wanted to do ballads but that was the only time they seemed to like him. His last song was actually a great choice even if Simon didn’t like it. I think the tour will do wonders in his confidence performing and will help him a lot.

  • Based on what Anoopà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s interviews have been like, a few things are obvious.
Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s an articulate, very intelligent, composed, good-looking kid who, as he proved last night, is talented. And I think that was his problem. He needed to come off as the singer who happened to be all of these great things and instead, he was what he was: an all arounder with a great work ethic who JUST HAPPENED to be able to sing well. It works in smaller settings, when people donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t expect it of you. But sometimes, if the à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“shiftà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t happen in your mind, making it to the next level becomes more difficult. And this is where Anoop stumbled the most: finding himself and portraying that on stage in spite of whatever smart workings were going on in his head. He never quite let go and it showed. That being said, I think heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s the type of person who will pretty much succeed at anything they do in life. Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s the guy that will decide ohà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦in his mid forties that he wants to go to medical school after finishing a professor gig at Dukeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦and then going through with it and winning out in the end.

Will he make an album? Wellà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦I always got the feeling from Anoop that this, in parts, was just a sojourn into something that he never thought possible for him, that he has a path and has never really left it. He wants to make a record, and Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m sure that he will make one, but I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t see that being his only option nor his best option. But these are all things that will sort themselves out in time. My guess? He has a blast on tour, invests the money wisely, finishes grad school with eight million degrees at the end of it, and ends out cashing out those investments in the end and living quite largely. He should be proud of himself for what he accomplished. Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s no small feat.

Wow! Totally agreed on eveything you said about Anoop. SPot On! :thumbup_tb:

I am waiting in eager anticipation just to see what Anoop will come up with after the tour, be it putting out an album or acting, or BOY-BAND (Anoop go for it!) or White House. HAHAhahahh! :lol_wp:

Oh yeah and Anoop, one more thing…. YOU GOTTA LOOSEN UP! Stop thinking so much….too much thinking destroys the brain. :wallbash_tb:

  • I guess I ‘m in a minority here but I kind of like that two of them get to do the bootee media blitz together — misery loving company and all.

As for Anoop, I recall a very early interview in which he mentioned becoming increasingly comfortable every time he took the stage, and that he could actually envision pursuing music as a career. Apparently, he hadn’t fully embraced the notion prior to coming to Hollywood. To me, this added to the perception that he was doing the whole Idol thing as a lark/dare/unfulfilled promise. He never displayed anywhere near the desperation of some other contestants who had not a clue what else to do with themselves if their dream of being a singer was squashed. I personally found this quality very appealing, and that’s when I started paying attention. Once he got into the spirit of the competition though, his intense work ethic kicked in and I do think he gave it his all. But I also get what a couple of earlier posters said about his not fully surrendering to the music.

It’s curious that he said he probably wouldn’t be returning to school. I always had the feeling that his grad school stint was sort of a way station on his life journey while he figured out what he wanted to do with himself. Masters programs across the land are populated with bright young people deferring their entry to the real world by hanging out a couple more years in the relative comfort and ease of the student lifestyle. For many, grad school is kind of an elite and socially acceptable form of slacking (I know whereof I speak). Hopefully, this whole experience will allow Anoop to narrow his goals, and I agree with the legions of others who think he’ll do just fine no matter what.

  • Lil’s favorite moment is falling down on her ass while playing basketball? Geez.
It’s all about herself as usual.

Anoop is a very cool guy and his intelligence is very sexy. Nice guy and I’ll buy his cd.

  • Hi MJ, thanks for putting up those videos.

Anoop, I’m glad that you’re out on a good note. Your performance on the result night was amazing. I will buy your CDs and support you all the way :-) . Happy going home Trooper :-) .

  • Anyone else get a message about a live chat with Anoop today 5 to 5:30 eastern? I text voted for him and Allison so wonder if that’s why I got it. I’m still at work then so can’t do it but hope they put a transcript somewhere.

  • bean99, there are TONS of Anoop videos and a transcript of the text chat on noop-dogg.com.

I am still sad that Anoop is not there, but as everyone is saying, he is a classy, intelligent, articulate, amazing, SEXY singer, who will go far in life at whatever he does. He’s very inspirational in my opinion. He’s hard working and gracious even when he gets criticized. One of the best contestants on American Idol.

I am so looking forward to Anoop’s album. I’m not sure if I’ll be in Ontario for their Canadian tour stop, but I will definitely be keeping an eye on his career.

And yes, it is annoying to have all of their interviews together, but I’m sure Anoop doesn’t mind sharing, he’s just that great. I do wonder if he gets as annoyed as I do listening to Lil (mis)speak!
