Here is the interview Anoop did with “Good Day Atlanta” today where he talked about his single “My Name” which he wrote with Season 6 Idol Brandon Rogers. He also talked a little about his EP.

“My Name” will be released in March and Anoop’s EP is coming out in May. I am looking forward to buying Anoop’s single and EP. :)

We’ve already seen his appearance on the OK Magazine Idol roundtable, but writing for the Billboard Magazine? That’s so exciting! He is such an Idol geek so I am really looking forward to it!

Joe and Anoop in one sentence is good enough…it would be fantastic if they could do something together…I Wanna Know is also one of my most favorite Joe tunes…

I didn’t get to see the YouTube presentation, but I do have a question in reference to this:

The album will mix R&B with Hindi influences. Sounds intriguing!

I think this idea is fascinating and am looking forward to hearing it. My concern has to do with the “religious” as opposed to cultural reference. Christians music is very popular and I am afraid this description may turn off many who might actually like Anoop’s music.

    I hope I am wrong.

  • jga94:

^I think Hinduism as a “religion” is less polarizing as say Islam(which is not Hinduism) or even Christianity. I am not an expert at these things but Hinduism is much like Confucianism….it’s more about philosophies and traditions rather than dogma…

There are actually a lot of pop songs that have Hindi or related influences…..the song that comes to mind easily is Missy Elliott’s Get Ur Freak On….

^Well, anyway, I do hope you are wrong…it would be indeed very sad if people get turned off by one’s music on a “religious” basis.I don’t particularly follow Christian music but I do love some songs by Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Sandi Patty…doesn’t really matter…good music is good music.

jga94, a friend reminded me of the success of the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack. I love the Bollywood dance music; it’s great to put on when doing housework! You are right, good music is good music!

I loved seeing Anoop again and can’t wait for his single. It’s been a long time since I heard his smooth voice.
