Anoop Desai Working on A New Track With Brandon Rogers
Anoop Desai is working on a new song with Season 6 Idol, Brandon Rogers, according to Anoop’s lastest My Space blog:
Hey everyone!
Wanted to keep you updated on goings on in Los Angeles. I’ve had a productive couple weeks in my new surroundings. Last night I was in the studio with my buddy and fellow Idol alum Brandon Rogers and Russ Ali (google him) working on a new track called “Not Like This”. I’m really excited about this one. When its done I’ll be sure to put it up here for y’all. Also working with a few other people around LA and David Mikush who is based in Atlanta on some new music. This is going to be the stuff that makes up the demo that I’ll be shopping to record companies in the very very near future. For now, I’m out here grindin.
Brandon Rogers finished 12th Season 6, and has been recording music and playing gigs around LA. He also does some work with the TV Guide channel.

Russel Ali plays guitar for Elliott. There are are many many videos on youtube of the two of them doing radio promotions together.
So awesome to know that Anoop’s busy readying himself for a record deal. With his hard-working tendency and beautiful voice, he is going to succeed. I believe!

Oh, this is great news about Anoop. I loved Brandon Rogers in Season 6 and was sad to see him go. Plus he’s a local.
Brandon’s and Anoop’s style and voices should mesh very well.
I looked up Russ Ali. Very interesting.

Russell is playing guitar and Brandon Rogers is singing back up for Elliott. You can just barely see Brandon at the far right of the video. I’m not sure who the other guy singing back up is. My guess is it is Jamie Rise.
Elliott is singing Know Better, one of my favorite songs, and he sounds (and looks) fantastic here.
I agree with TwigLA that Anoop and Brandon should mesh well.

The cover of Keri Hillson’s “Make Love” that Anoop has done is a little surprising….it sounds both very much like him and quite different too.
I hear his voice distinctly but the technique and lightness of it is very new to what I had come to expect from Anoop. I like it very very much…

Thanks again MJ for keeping us updated with all the idols…this means a lot to both the idols themselves as well as for us fans.
And yes, I can appreciate how hard-working Anoop is….he has the talent, drive and industry to back up his ambition.
This is such positive news! I think they would make a good team.
Is it that bad if a couple of Idols got together and recorded and toured?

Super fun video of Russell and Michael Johns performing Single Ladies. About 2 minutes in, Russell does a smokin’ solo.
And, Brandon sang Always on My Mind for his audition – possible Anoop was aware of that when he chose it for country week and has been in touch for awhile.
I’m impressed with Anoop’s drive to succeed – he’s truly out there grindin’!
Brandon is a good musician — fine pianist, very charming voice. He didn’t have the right stuff to do the AI boogie, just wasn’t his strength. But I’m glad to hear he’s making music, and I imagine he and Anoop would be a good fit.
Anoop needs to do a duet with another Idol.
The way he holds the mic doesn’t bother me. He looks mighty fine.
