The Daily Beast Debunks the Howard Stern Rumors

Richard Rushfield of the Daily Beast repeats what Entertainment Weekly reported a few days ago–that nobody from Idol has, in fact, approached Howard Stern to take Simon Cowell’s place on the American Idol judges panel:

Read it HERE.

Howard Stern will not be replacing Simon Cowell, according to American Idol insiders. This week the Idol nation buzzed with the possibility, first mentioned in The New York Post. The rumor was propelled by Stern on his radio show yesterday when he said, “It might be possible, we’ll see.”

There is, however, less to the story than meets the eye. Two Idol insiders told The Daily Beast that no offer has been made to Stern, and that in fact, with the new season just beginning, the show is months away from choosing a replacement for Cowell. A source familiar with the search process says Stern was never even being considered.

David Archuleta Blogs On ‘No Air’ Duet: “I can’t believe I got to sing that song with her”

David Archuleta blogs on dueting with Jordin Sparks on ‘No Air’, visiting Children’s Hospital and swollen cheeks! Read it HERE.  Plus,  David  just wrote a song with Lindy Robbins and Matt Squire

So I’ve had a pretty awesome week! I was able to get some time to go down to Florida and help Jordin Sparks out with her charity called Jordin Sparks Experience. It was a really neat experience! What made it even better is that I had my mom come down with me. The event was in Miami Beach and I was born in Miami, so it my mom and I were so happy to go back haha. But it was so great because Jordin and I finally got to sing together!! We sang No Air, which is pretty difficult to sing haha. Jordin is such an incredible singer though! I can’t believe I got to sing that song with her. At first when I found out she wanted me to sing that song with her I was thinkin’, “Uh…” lol because it’s such a hard song to sing and I thought I would look like an idiot trying to sing that song with someone who sings that good. It was a real privilege though getting to sing with someone that talented and who sings with that much emotion, and they’re close to my age.

Ha ha. And:

Ellen Degeneres Chats with Ryan Seacrest, Discusses Her Idol Debut

Ellen Degeneres called into the Ryan Seacrest KIIS-FM radio show this morning to chat about her debut as Idol judge. The Hollywood Rounds kick off on American Idol tonight.

She didn’t directly address the rumors that she and Simon aren’t getting along, but she certainly is playing up the differences in their personalities and judging styles. She calls Simon a smart, funny guy and admits he’s going to be “a challenge”. And then candidly states, “It’ll be good TV.”

Makes me wonder if TPTB are the peeps planting the Ellen-Simon rumors to drum up interest in the show. Hm.

Commenting on the talent, Ellen says the judges have advanced a “very great eclectic group of people.” and she’s surprised by how little experience some of them have. She knows from experience that it’s a very hard process for somebody who hasn’t auditioned before to hear “no”.

She plans to be honest, but with humor to cushion the blow. As a comedian, Ellen knows what it’s like to try to impress a room full of people, and then get judged harshly.

The live shows will be fun and exciting, Ellen thinks, and the plan is to travel next summer to all the audition cities.

Ellen’s got empathy for these kids, but she’s going to be a very different judge than Paula Abdul. If a contestant stinks, Ellen won’t be telling them they look nice. And I don’t think she’ll be taking any condescending crap from Simon. Should be interesting.

I was pretty tough on Ellen when the news first broke, but I’m willing to keep an open mind for now. What do you think?

Listen to the interview after the jump…

BONUS Video: Randy Jackson talks to FOX Atlanta about Ellen, Hollywood Week. And, of course a Girl Will Win (for the “Zen Oneness of it All” (!!!)

Idol Headlines for 02/09/10

“American Idol” hopeful from Seattle didn’t make it to Hollywood afterall

Soon after Danelle Hayes finished her audition on last Tuesday night’s “American Idol,” the buzz started to rise on the Web that the 24-year-old from Seattle was a contender. The judges gave her a coveted “golden ticket,” meaning that she had made it to the “Hollywood round” of the popular reality-TV singing contest.

Said one person on Twitter: “I am 1000000% positive Danelle Hayes from Seattle Washington is the Next American Idol! Period.”

Not so fast. Her run on the show officially ended with that golden ticket.

Nicole Gonzalez, a spokesperson for “American Idol,” confirmed Monday that Hayes did not, in fact, compete in the Hollywood round, which was taped a few weeks ago and airs beginning Tuesday night on Channel 13. Gonzales indicated it was their policy to not comment any more than that.

(Watch Danelle’s audition HERE. Every year there are a handful of golden ticket holders who don’t make it to Hollywood for one reason or another. Sometimes they fail the post-audition background checks. Typically though, these contestants aren’t featured on TV)

Adam Lambert to Attend The Blonds Fall Fashion Show at New York Fashion Week

Via Just Jared:

Adam Lambert is set to attend next Tuesday’s MUCH-ANTICIPATED runway presentation from The Blonds during NY Fashion Week, sources confirm exclusively to JustJared.com.

Fancy footwear designer Christian Louboutin designed all of the shoes that will be hitting the catwalk. Designers David and Phillipe Blond (pictured here) collaborated with Christian on all of the embellishing, so each shoe will go perfectly with each look from the show.

Well, how could New York Fashion Week happen without Adam? Not surprised he’ll be making an appearance!

Things have been quiet in Adamland with Adam vacationing in Mexico over the weekend…

UPDATE: In other news, Adam tweets his fans, asking them not to be too pushy with the radio stations, “Hey guys!!! I looooove the support and Passion you all put into your radio requests, however Canada’s Z103 is being…pestered by too many “pushy” emails. Let’s make sure we don’t bother them to the point where they don’t wanna play my music!! Thanks!

Howard Stern Confirms Idol Judge Rumors – Interested in the Job

UPDATE: Listen to Howard Stern talk about American Idol on his Sirius radio show this morning. Stern goes on an endless, non-PC rant. I suggest the sensitive take a pass. (I can’t believe Idol is serious about this). Part 1:

Part 2:

Howard Stern confirmed to his radio listeners this morning that Fox is interested in hiring him to take Simon Cowell’s place at the judges panel.  What’s more, Stern claims to be interested in the gig. via Vote for the Worst.

via the Wrap:

Howard Stern told his satellite radio listeners on Monday that he is considering leaving Sirius – and radio altogether — to become a judge on “American Idol.”

Stern confirmed a report that Fox is interested in hiring the Sirius shock jock to replace Simon Cowell on the reality show.

“There’s not a better job on the planet than judging that f—ing karaoke contest,” Stern said.

“It might be possible, we’ll see,” he said, adding: “They’d have to pay me a ton of dough because I already make a ton of dough.”

Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo to Join the Broadway Cast of Hair?

Via Broadway World

As HAIR readies for its Broadway makeover and London premiere, rumors are beginning to swirl as to which current cast members will be settling in across the pond and which new faces will be gracing the Broadway production. The newest reports out suggest that American Idol alumni Ace Young (season 5’s seventh runner up) and Diana DeGarmo (season 3 runner up, Hairspray, The Toxic Avenger) are among the new picks for the Broadway replacement cast. No official announcement has been made by the production, although it is expected that casting announcements for London and New York are imminent, as the new Broadway performers go into rehearsal in the coming weeks.

I’m assuming this current revival doesn’t have the cast getting naked like in the old days. Heh. (Just found out it does! But it’s up to each cast member to decide if they want to bare all or not. I’m thinking negatory on Ace or Diana going full frontal…)

The new “tribe” is set to debut on March 9th at the Al Hirschfield Theater in New York City.

UPDATE: Diana has tweeted about waiting for a deal to close on a Broadway play…  Rumor is that Diana will play Sheila and Ace will play Berger…
