Here is this week’s American Idol Billboard Update. Play along, kids!
The Highlights:
- DAUGHTRY climbs back to the #1 spot on the Billboard 200. The single “It’s Not Over” continues to hold the #1 spot on the Adult Top 40 chart. The Official Idol Boot song, “Home” makes it’s first appearance–it’s #83 on the Hot 100 chart, #65 on the Pop 100 chart and #62 on the Hot Digital Songs chart. Also, congratulations to Chris, his album was recently certified double platinum by the RIAA. DAUGHTRY has sold 1,801,711 to date.
- Jennifer Hudson’s “Dreamgirls” gets a nice bounce on the Billboard 200, up from #16 last week to #8 this week.
- Similarly, Taylor Hicks’ album climbed from #138 to #109 this week, due to an appearance on The Dr. Phil show. Also, Kellie Pickler’s appearance on American Idol last week gave her CD a nice bounce–from #100 to #66.
- Elliott Yamin debut’s on the Billboard charts this week. His digital single, “Movin’ On” is #61 on the Billboard Hot 100, #49 on the Pop 100 and #37 on the Hot Digital Songs chart. Pretty good for an independent release, I’d say. Elliott’s CD drops on 03/20.

Great links MJ!! Though I have to profess distress at the performance of Taylor Hicks’ album and single. ((sigh)) Not ONCE has Idol pimped his album, him, his tour or his single. What gives? Why does American Idol hate Taylor??!
Congratulations Chris for having the number 1 album in the country for a SECOND time.
Truly amazing. Who would have thought? Not even me.
I agree RenaRF, I am just amazed! And when do they plan on having him as a guest on their show? After all, he is THE American Idol!! Makes no sense what so ever.
I don’t know why you think they hate Taylor. He’s last year’s winner so will be on the show once or twice but right now he’s touring. I’m sure they’ll mention his single/album when he’s on but right now there’s not much to say.
I’m impressed by Elliott’s Amazon #s (#20 right now). I hope his album does well.
Yay for Chris’ #1 and 2x Platinum.
Chris has already done way more than I thought he would, so anything more is just icing for me. Congrats, Daughtry!
I finally downloaded Elliott’s “Movin On” today. I like it! I’ll be buying his album as soon as it’s available. Am I getting his release date and Bucky’s confused? I thought his was 3/13. Is it 3/20 and Bucky’s is 4/13?
Who wrote this article? I’m glad for him and I have his CD but it makes him sound like God. He’ll never be better than the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, etc. Elliott’s CD drops 3/20
Thank you, MJ! Now I know the answer to thursday’s AI tribute question. I was struggling between Ace and Chicken little. But Daughtry? I would never have guessed!
