Last Friday, Jordin’s deal was announced. This Friday it’s Blake Lewis’s turn.
Blake Lewis, the beat-boxing runner-up to Jordin Sparks on the sixth season of American Idol has been signed to 19 Recordings/Arista Records. He is already recording an album with producers from JR Rotem to Sean Kingston, due to be released at the end of the year.
Clive Davis says of Lewis, “Blake has a strong music sensibility and knows who he is and what his music should represent. His collaborators are all knocked out by him.”
Blake has already recorded at least 8 songs, and I’m hearing that the stuff is GREAT. Blake will release his album sometime in November.

The first part of the song sounded just like Kat to me, HS. I think Kat’s voice is good even though I didn’t like her album/singles at all. I’m not so sure Jordin’s voice is all that much better but maybe they’ve learned from Kat’s album.
Blake is beige?
I’m pretty sure that Sarah said he was shibby. 
The thing is, there are tons of women of all ages (and probably some guys too, lol) who find Blake extremely attractive. Just go to TWOP and you’ll see.
I’m not going to speculate too much on record sales. I didn’t have a clue how well Chris D would do. I was just happy as a fan to enjoy his album. I feel the same way about Blake and of course hope he does well.
I don’t think you have been listening to some of the people in here. Taylor is a great musician, but you’ve got to remember that they were predicting 5 million in sales for Taylor last year and that obviously didn’t happen. He’s a great performer and does make good music, but his album was not marketable because he wasn’t willing to conform to the current trends out there. Taylor had a ton of people voting for him last year, but when it came time to buying the album, the majority of those voters disappeared because by the time the album came out, it was almost 2 weeks till Christmas and Taylor did not record while on the road and so his album sales suffered because of his release being delayed at least 3 times. I would rather see Blake’s debut pushed back just a little because the album is great and he’s happy with the finished product. As far as “Tattoo”, Jordin’s voice sounds good, but the song itself, I don’t care for it, but there will be some of the tweens that will love it and I wish her only the best.
I don’t find Blake conventionally good looking (I think he’s cute in a goofy sort of way) but I have a 12 year that would disagree. You had to see how crazy some of these young girls were while he AI was on. All the tweens loved him and Jordin. Have you ever looked at a teen magazine? Half the guys in there aren’t exactly supermodels LOL
I am sorry Carolina. But I’ve never pretended I was not a Taylor fan. He is an incredible performer and a great singer.
I just realized that I liked him during the show but soon after his post AI career started, I realized he never was what I thought he would be. I guess I was a temporary fan just because I was confused with whom the real Taylor was.
I will be never fan of the music he likes to do. But I am glad he is happy touring and doing what he loves. I was always honest about it. I think it’s fair to leave the fan bandwagon and move to someone else when you finally realized you should have never been that person’s fan in the first place..
It was just a mistake from my part. And I learned from that.
I really wish him well and I am sad that you think of me that way.
Blake’s style is much more me and that is why I became a blaker in the first place. I remember I said way back when season 6 started that in Blake I found what I didn’t find in Taylor. I really love Blake’s pre AI and original msuic. It’s not only the gel you know Although I must say I love Blake’s blonde spiky hair. Heh.
I hope this clears out my feelings about Blake and Taylor.
In regards to Taylor’s sales - nowadays music publications, people on the street, the media in general are always ready to label an artist a failure because he/she has sold ONLY 500,000 to 700,000 units. That’s utterly ridiculous. That’s a great showing. Not every artist can go #1. It just doesn’t work that way. Many artists have had and will continue to have great careers with those kinds of sales. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. If they tour, better yet. Music has taken a side road thru the years. You no longer have people lining up on Tues drop day waiting to buy a CD. Those days are gone.

Blake may not be Matthew McConaughey or Brad Pitt cute, but he IS cute. My 10 and 15 year old neices LOVE him and were insanely jellus h8r’s when I got to meet him. My 70 year old mom even thinks he’s a cutie and she’s never been one for the tattoo’d up, pierced all over, alt guys.
He may not appeal to EVERYONE, but that doesn’t negate his appeal.

If so, average the teens at 12.5 and then add in one at 70 — anyone who thinks Blake is cute is around the age of 41 years.

For heaven’s sake, I gave you just a few people as an example. I also know girls in their teens, 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s who like him and think he’s cute.
Good grief. Is is that big of a deal? You said he’s not cute, people won’t and don’t consider him as such, and I simply said that I know people who DO think he’s cute.

As I said, he may not appeal to EVERYONE, but that does not negate his appeal. That is pretty much the same with any celebrity. My sister in law is a huge Johnny Depp fan and thinks he’s hot. I don’t agree, but I don’t disregard her opinion or taste just because I don’t think he’s hot. She is the same way with me and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Anyway it eventually all comes down to music. I think Blake has the ability to invent a new sound machine. The need is there, he’ll find the time and maybe something BBBlake magical will happen — he can hide behind his voice and maybe earn royalties — hey, lots of mediocre singers out there! Not to mention a patent. He could be huge.
