    Gwen Stefani? Jennifer Lopez? EW?!?

Maybe I’m just too old and that’s just not my style of music, but really?

Actually I didn’t mind Gwen Stefani nearly as much WITH No Doubt…but her solo works leave so much to be desired.

This leads me curious to what the themes will be that week considering the genre of music both of them are in.

Not my favorite guest judges, but at least Gwen has a good personality that I do like, even if her music is awful.

I don’t recall Shakira working with the kids last year. Just performing. Nigel is, if anything, inconsistent.

I love Gwen, and all of her music, so I’m excited to see that. Don’t really care for Jennifer though. Seems like this year they’re going to have to bag a HUGE celebrity almost every episode to keep ratings comparable to last year. I mean, who’s going to entertain us? :) I want the celebrities to sing and then have the judges critique them. THAT would make for some good television.

Is JLo releasing an album this spring?

I don’t see them doing the JLo songbook or the Gwen/No Doubt songbook. Wonder if they might be mentors during decade weeks or something?

I really have no idea… that’s my best guess.

Jennifer Lopez is the producer and brainchild behind the reality series “Dance Life” which is currently being broadcast on MTV. It’s a competition amongst professional dancers (like you see in music videos, vegas shows, broadway) trying to make it in Hollywood. She appears in the show as well, working with and judging the dancers.

I think she would also be willing to work directly with the AI contestants. Diva reputation and slim song catalog notwithstanding.

Gwen might be coming in on one of the mandatory Billboard weeks?
not sure what week Jennifer would coach, but she has a Spanish album out soon..

Someone told me Clive Davis might be plotting Whitney’s comeback with a themeweek and performance during Idol.. anyone heard anything about that?

If I recall, Nigel slammed Shakira after the show, really disappointed in her lack of interest in the contestants and the show in general. It was all about HER and her entourage.

I don’t recall “Your Purpleness” working with the contestants, either.

Still, having these two rather popular pop artists come on is pretty huge for a pop show such as AI. Gives them more pop cred, which is every bit as good as street cred (if not one and the same) for pop artists.

Prince was a performer on the last week. No one to work with in that instance.

I recall reading somthing along the lines that they had expected Shakira to work with the contestants, but when she showed up she refused and it was too late to book anyone else…they had to keep her on for her performance.

So I would expect they would try not to be put in that position again.

I have no problem with Jennifer coming aboard! I mean, if they booked Diana Ross, then Divas shouldn’t be a problem for the show.

If I recall, it was reported that Prince didn’t say a word to any of them. He walked in, performed, and then left. That’s just as bad as not helping out the contestants. Some people on their high horse make me puke. And then you know what Taylor said when he was asked about it? That he understood and that Prince was probably busy. And ya know, I bet someone like Ace would have liked to talked to Prince.

Seems as though it’s the year of the diva including the guest artists. One more way to get me to switch off.

  15. 15 Heh Feb 22nd, 2007 at 5:19 am

Well, I’ve read somewhere about Simon bitching about Prince being there just for himself, and a “rumor” that said Prince went to see Paris and told her that she did a good job with his song (Kiss(?)). Pretty sure about the first piece, not so sure about the last.

  16. 16 Lisa B Feb 22nd, 2007 at 7:39 am

That was reported after the finale Heh.
