Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown, Bucky Covington, Bo Bice, Phil Stacey To Make Appearances on Upcoming Idol Results Shows

Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown will appear on the special Idol Gives Back results show on Thursday, April 1o to perform their big hit “No Air”.  I do believe they have yet to perform the song together on television.  That should be special.  I rather like “No Air”.  Overwrought teen passion at it’s finest!

Bucky Covington’s fan letter confirms that he’ll be appearing on The Top 9 Results Show this coming Wednesday, April 2  in a video package that also features Nashville-based Idols Bo Bice and Phil Stacey.

According to The Clark Brothers My Space, they will be making an appearance also.  Plus, Dolly Parton will be performing her new single. She’s the mentor this week.  Wow, that’s a lot to fit into one hour.  I better be getting a pointy pose, dammit!

Are you sure about the Bucky performance, MJ? Buckycovington.com only mentions him being part of the video package. Of course, I would gladly forgo the corniest country-fried group number to see my sweet Bucky return to the Idol stage for a little redemption.

I hope Bucky is on the show. I’ve always liked him even though I’m not a country music fan.

I really love that their showcasing former Idols on the results show this year. All too often, past contestants are forgotten and I think it’s real cool to integrate past and present this way. It also has to be inspiring for current contestants to watch. I hope they’ll keep this up throughout the season. This has to help bump album sales for them as well. Hope to see Josh Gracin and dare we hope they’ll give Sligh a shot too.

Kimberley Locke was outstanding the other night, by the way. I’ve been watching season two on Idol Rewind too, so seeing her again was really timely.

Hmm, seems like they broke the K-pattern. I was half-expecting Kevin Covais to appear next after they had Katharine, Kellie, and Kimberley appear in a row. XD

This is from the Bucky Covington Newsletter:

    BUCKY BACK ON AMERICAN IDOL

Bucky will take the American Idol stage once again on April 2nd! Be sure to check your local listings for air times and join Bucky fans everywhere as he graces the AI stage once again.

Hmmm, but after further inspection, maybe they are only referring to the video package…

Although it does sound like he’s going to be there in person…

I’m happy to see Bucky and Bo back on the Idol stage :) Jordin, meh, but it’ll be interesting to see how she manages to sing that song and sound like a human being, seeing as how she sounds like an android with vocal subroutine malfunction. Other than that she’s a sweet kid.

Three guesses who WON’T be asked to come back this season!

I heard Bucky on the radio yesterday. I enjoyed the song, but I didn’t know it was him until after the announcer said so.

With Ruben singing the boot song and everyone invited back except Taylor, it’s clear he did do something to Clive’s Metamucil as rumored.

I heard a new song by Bucky on the radio yesterday, only I didn’t know it was him until after it was over and they announced his name.

I really liked his other song, too - A Different World. Great song. I was going to learn it to add to my repertoire, but for the first line.

It’s Good To Be Us is his new song. I’ve only heard it once, but I liked it right away.

Since Bucky, Josh Gracin and Phil are signed by the same record company, I was kinda holding out hope that they would bring the three of them back for a medley of their songs kind of thing…but then again, I believe World Peace is possible too….

Looking forward to the vid package. Always nice to see Bucky!

And I agree. Kimberley Locke was great to hear. My DH even liked her.

I really don’t anticipate seeing Taylor, Kelly or Clay on the show this year as none are signed with 19E management. I really don’t think Clive has as much to do with it as Warrick, Fuller and Lythgoe. Clive wants to sell records but those guys want to back folks who they are making bucks off of. They are really not about the music but about the money. The show is a business. Saying that I’ll just hope I’m wrong and that Taylor,Kelly and Clay (who are my 3 favorites) will magically appear but I won’t hold my breath. I am enjoying the show again this year and it’s the first year I’ve been visiting MJ’s during the show and it’s been fun so far. :clap_tb:

I know Kelly and Clay got out of their 19E management contracts, but I was always confused–did 19E ever offer to manage Taylor in the first place?

You, as would I, would surely die if we did so.

I agree it is the moneymakers they are shaking, so-to-speak, and putting them on the show for a bit more pimpage. (Ok, that sounds kinda bad, but I am leaving it in. :tongue1_tb:)

That said, I love Kim and really enjoyed her appearance. Ditto Kellie. Bucky and Bo are two of my very favorites, so seeing them again, however they are presented, will be a treat.

I can’t wait to see Phil on Idol again. Does anybody know what they will sing?

  16. 16 xoxoyc Mar 29th, 2008 at 7:52 pm

Season 5 was the only season to date where 19 signed neither winner nor runner up. They opted for the 4th and 6th place contestants instead- their rumored “dream” final two.

Anyway, I don’t think being signed to 19 has anything to do with being on the show anymore. So far this year the only one signed to 19E is Kellie. Katharine and Kim Locke aren’t and never have been.

Taylor and Kelly were both back last year so they may still make an appearance this year.

Wonder why they’ve never had Josh Gracin on? He was the first to go country, and, has 4 albums, if I’m not mistaken. He’s done ok for himself. He didn’t even get to tour with AI2, and, that’s why Charles Grigsby was on tour in his place. Josh has been in Nashville for 4 or 5 years now.

As stated, TPTB apparently formed their own winner and runnerup from season 5. So, why bother voting?

  18. 18 abbysee Mar 29th, 2008 at 9:47 pm

What xoxoyc said. It’s not really about that because not all appearing are signed to 19. I wouldn’t be surprised if Clay or Taylor appears. This season is like the ghost of seasons past, so why not. It would be interesting to see the ratings when/if Taylor appears. Dude makes for good tv. Remember Taylor might not be signed to 19, but if Clive likes what he hears, he has first refusal it seems, and the best forum to peddle his wares would be idol, so if not this season the idol stage will see idol again. Now if they bring back Trenyce, then I will be a happy girl. She is very visible on the rewind show, and it’s great to see her again.

  19. 19 Lu Mar 30th, 2008 at 12:14 am

Yeah I dont think being signed by 19 has a lot to do with who’s on the show. Who knows? Taylor, Clay and/or Kelly may still make an appearance. They dont always announce these appearances way far ahead of time. I’m happy to get to see Bucky this week and am really looking forward to seeing Elliott on IGB.

Clay might have a hard time doing that because of the Broadway gig. How long is he in the show for?

  21. 21 Tony Mar 30th, 2008 at 2:47 am

I really, REALLY like the idea of having former Idols return to the show. And it only took one shitty season for the producers to remember that we’re only interested in the contestants.

  22. 22 bean99 Mar 30th, 2008 at 12:11 pm

I hope they won’t bring a bunch of former idols for the finale this year like they did last season. We heard more of them than the season 6 ones which really made me mad. There’s hardly any I have interest in seeing again but don’t mind when they do it during the regular season.

His last day in Spamalot is May 4. And his CD drops May 6. So we may see Clay yet, if they ask him.
