Wow, with so many mediocre singers still around, and they voted off Paul Clifford, one of the better singers? If the Canadians keep doing that, then my interest in the show will be very short-lived indeed.
I guess VFTW saved Mark Day and we lost Paul instead. It’s too bad. I don’t think he had enough charisma, though, to have made it much further.
ETA: I love the format of CI’s results night. It flies by. It’s only 30 minutes but it’s a very enjoyable 30 minutes as opposed to AI’s results which seem to never end.
I didn’t like seeing Paul leave either. I think they have regional things that are maybe stronger than here in the U.S. I don’t know that voting is based totally on the same criteria…having said that, maybe people love Mark Day for his talent? I mean, he’s the only diva on the show as far as I can see

Wow, Canada kicked of the 2 better female vocalists and kept Katelyn and Marie-Pierre? LOL The guys were the right ones though, imo.
Next week we’ll go from Top 16 to Top 10!! 6 will be eliminated.
I think at least two girls will make the Top 10 because the guys are going to be subject to crazy vote-splitting next week. So unless the girls all perform on the same night, at least four guys are in danger of leaving. I’m thinking: Adam, Mitch, Martin, and Drew.
Didn’t much care for Lisa, Jessica or Jesse this week but a little surprised to see Paul go.
Nice to hear songs from the “Best” performers instead of the selections from those eliminated.
I think Theo and Amberly are in the top 10. Martin too. Based on this past week, Omar should make it also. Despite assertions of vocal ability, the Pigott brothers will make it based on looks that appeal to the demographic that votes. No clue about the last four.

When Ben said four would be asked for an encore, I thought it would be the top four vote-getters. But I can’t believe Oliver and Omar were in the Top 4. Not really surprised with the guys who were voted off. Jesse was bad last Tuesday, Paul’s voice isn’t my thing. I’m a little surpised about the girls. But, Jessica was just coasting last night. Lisa’s song wasn’t good. But I thought Lisa would at least outlast Marie-Pierre.
Theo and Mark Day both look disappointed with the results. Looks like Mark and Jessica probably became good friends.

OMG the whole exchange with Ben and Lisa where he held out his hand to her and then withdrew it was the most awkward thing I’ve seen on TV in a while, my roommate and I had to rewind it more than once to laugh at it. He is the most awkward person when he’s telling them that they’re toast, maybe because he honestly feels bad doing so. Either way, it’s uncomfortable to watch.
I thought it was a bit unfair that the judges got to push their favorites by having them do an encore, why couldn’t they do something involving everybody?! Again, Rude! (still better than making the cast offs sing though, I suppose)
I like Oliver but they really need to lay off the pimping, it’s so off-putting and they’re not doing him any favors. I thought that singing his song the second time around, he would lay off that high note where his voice disappears, at that point in his delivery I think it’s a sound only dogs can hear. He sounds so good until he gets to that part. I would have preferred seeing Sebastian sing Daydream again.

That is exactly what happened the last two seasons. My favorite part of Canadian Idol is the Top 200.
Regional voting always plays a big role on Canadian Idol. Toronto is at the greatest disadvantage since ratings are lowest there (few in Toronto seem to care about Canadian Idol), while in many other areas ratings are stratospheric.

Well the results weren’t that shocking. I didn’t think it would of been Paul though but he didn’t shine this week so I guess it was his time. I was hoping Jessica would have another week. It was cute when Mark got all emotional because of Jessica. Lisa’s song’s arrangement was horrid so I really didn’t care much for her or Marie-Pierre. So the top ten looks like this right now for me:

4. Mookie
5. Oliver
6. Sebastian
