Just say yes, I had a deal and as these things can go, it didn’t work out. I didn’t give up on my dream and AI seemed the best way I could try again. Downplay it…….don’t lie. I’m more than willing to give someone a second chance, as are most people, but not if we feel we’re being duped and lied to.

They signed her when she was Archuleta’s age because they wanted to make her into their new Britney Spears and tried to force that role on her with bubblegummy pop songs. The songs were so crappy that focus groups hated them, so they rerecorded the album and the songs *still* sucked. Not Carly, the songs they had her sing.

Instead of getting her any meaningful exposure, they threw their promotion budget at the weirdest crap imaginable… money just whizzing down the drain and accomplishing nothing. As for the 2.2 million they spent promoting the album… had anyone here ever heard of “Carly Hennessey” before American Idol? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Records don’t sell if no one knows they are in the stores to be bought.

And Carly’s in an unenviable position now. She can’t defend herself without accusing her former music industry handlers of mismanagement and ineptitude. Either she *doesn’t* accuse them, and looks like a plant and a flop, or she does and watches industry doors slam shut across the board. So she does what she’s doing… just tries to wipe that off her slate and start over as much as she can.

I think she walked in there expecting to blow everyone away and win the show easily. But, she was schreechy, whined and complained and looked like she wanted to kill someone when she sang until….. she turned into “nice” Carly. By the time she decided to become happy person, it was way too late to win over the fans and stay in the game. She just didn’t get the job done, period. It wasn’t because she was from Ireland, had tattoos or had a record contract.

And there she is on Ellen still “stretching” the truth and whining. wah, wah, poor Carly.

so I ask myself, why did I watch that video?? Silly me, I thought maybe she would irritate me less.

From the beginning she seemed too self-involved to really connect. Now, she may very well be a lovely girl in her personal life–I’m just talking about how she came across on the show.

She never had a musical identity. Like I said in my review, she was a cipher with a big voice. And as far as the quality of that voice–she definitely can sing, but she often didn’t use it to her best advantage. I really loved her lower tones, but she insisted on pushing the limit of her upper register where she often sounded screechy and strained.

She couldn’t relax, her performances were often stressful to watch, because she appeared a little desperate and wound up.

Oh, while I wouldn’t call her a liar, she had the tendency to dissemble a little, I think.

Smear information sabotaged Carly from the beginning. Dark cynical people prefer a target to a hero. It didn’t matter that the truth was available it only mattered that they had someone to hate. You can read this ignorance in the above comments and littered on the web.

To me, she doesn’t have the rabid fan base that David and David do- those folks are going nuts on iTunes for their music. Personally, I haven’t bought anything of hers b/c I was never in like of her. I enjoy Brooke but haven’t bought her music either.

I have nothing at all against Carly. I have bought some of her iTunes, the ones I personally enjoy. No I did not vote for her because all of my votes go to DC & MJ/JC were my second favorites. If those 3 were to go and Carly had still been on, my votes then would have gone to her.

As far as the MCA contract/promotion whatever. My point in stating what I said was because she referred to her *deal* as the same as the others when in fact it was not. I don’t know about the others, but DC did not have that kind of backing. For her to say that was wrong. She could have as easily said *Yes I did have a deal, but it just fell through* and not have drug the others into it.

She had met Mariah previously.

This interview only made my feeligns about her even stronger.

It went down like this: we can’t have foreigners (or new immigrants) take our rightful American places and jobs, the record industry recognized her talent and miss-managed millions so you must take the blame and give up your right to have that incredible talent rediscovered, and furthermore large tattoos scare the god fearing children of America. Yes this is the land of opportunity but only for Americans. Carly left her country as a child to chase a dream, worked hard, failed, worked more, started a business, competed at a high level with her best skills, but we say Carly this is “not” the American way…

I know DC did his cd’s himself. Please Carly there is no comparison to what you are saying.

That said, Here You Come Again is my favorite song of hers, and I LOVE it. Carly just sing you have a beautiful voice.

I like her personality. She’s a down to earth young lady who had stardom in her grasp and it all went horribly wrong, through no fault of her own. She is trying to have a career doing what she loves and she is judged on a failure before she was 17 and a tattoo. Frankly I hate the damn thing, but it doesn’t take away the fact that if she puts out a cd that has stuff like Crazy on You and Here You Come again, I am all over it. You see I don’t care if you look like Nosferatu (sp), or the elephant man, if you can sing, you have me. I don’t need hot, it’s nice, but not necessary.

But, “the Irish girl” was floating around for quite a while, and I think some viewers may have been a little jaded. She was probably one of the best singers in the competition, but when the voting viewers are fed up, they’re just fed up. There’s really nothing she could do. And, when it came down to people voting to get her through another week or saving their favorites, she lost out.

Like it or not, I believe that Simon spurs action. I probably would never judge a performance as “good” or “bad” based strictly on what he says because Lord knows he was completely off Dolly Parton night. But, if he opens his big mouth, and viewers think a contestants in trouble, they’ll scramble to save ‘em.

Carly and MichaelJ are two big reasons I would consider the top 10 of AI7 to be the most talented ever.

As a whole unit, it’s difficult for me to decide between this crew and the season 5 crew. Season 5 still contains a few of my all time favorite idols, and I know that I don’t like any of these guys as well as I like my ultimate favorite from that year. but, taken as a group, I think the talent level is pretty darn high this year. And, this is the first year that I’ve liked more than 5 of the idols a lot during the run of the show. Also – I think with the exception of KLC, everyone in this year’s top 10 is exponentially more talented than the likes of Paris & Lisa. So, it’s kind of a toss up for me.

I think this would also probably be a good year to go to the tour. I think this will be a fun group. I’m not sure they could top the season 5 tour for me (Taylor, Chris, Elliott & Mandisa were all fabulous performers and Ace & Bucky entertained the hell out of me). But, it’s entirely possible that I could like seeing this group just as well, if not more.

Let’s remember this: Simon is sort of the voice of the viewing audience. What he says is usually what the average person is thinking. Simon has not really cared for many of her performances for several weeks. As a matter of fact, Simon liking it was SO UNUSUAL, she had a t-shirt made for the occasion.

In light of that, perhaps it was NOT so unfair that Carly went home.

I was fairly neutral to her on the show. I’m just turned off by the Ellen interview and the screaming.
