I am confused aren’t all Christmas specials “cheesy” by definition. Who wants a dark, introspective, gloomy, Kafka inspired, Christmas show. Not me I want to happy and be filled with “Cheese”.

I think this has a chance of being all kinds of awesome. Both David and Carrie have awesome voices. They have a chemistry together. They have musicality. Needless to say, I’m excited.

Carrie’s special is going to be great cheesy fun no matter what, but I’m super-excited about the Cookwood potential. Carrie and Dave are good friends and have great chemistry, and their voices sounded so fantastic together in the AI Experience duet. But more than that, somehow for me they represent American Idol at its best. Two truly talented, likable, and successful winners. They two of them together on stage are a great reminder of the promise of the show.

Brad taped his part in Nashville last week while Carrie was in LA. I don’t know how they’ll make the duet work but I’d guess there will be some fancy editing going on.

Weird! Yeah, that oughtta be interesting to see how they work out a virtual duet on screen… I’m picturing something creepy like the holograms they do with singers “duet” with dead people. Hoping it’s something less cheesy.

If there’s a time of year to shamelessly embrace the cheese, it’s the holiday season. This should be fun. Course I’d spazz along with everyone else if Kelly was added to the line up. Can you imagine all three Idols singing together? Yeaaah, never gonna happen. But it would be awesome.

I’m pretty sure it’s confirmed the taping next week’s confirmed to be in LA like you said.

I love Carrie and Brad’s friendship and wish they’d actually be on screen together for the special but it seems like Brad’s tour schedule will prevent it.

I would die if Kelly goes on, cuz my dream is a Kelly/DC duet, but I’m pretty sure she’s on tour during the time of taping.

I looked this up ’cause I’m a dork. Kelly is in Knoxville on the 21st, but is off the 22nd. Taping of the special is supposedly the 22nd and 23rd. Kelly does have a show on the 23rd, but could…theoretically, swing by Nashville on the 22nd and film.

Of course if the taping’s in LA, my plan goes out the window.

Carrie said a couple weeks ago that she was rehearsing with the band she has a duet with on her album and that we’d see that eventually. I’m hoping that means she’ll be singing What Can I Say with Sons Of Silvia on the special! There’s another example of her looking out for her friends: Ashley Clark used to be the fiddler in her band before he went off to do his own band thing and now she’s giving him and his band this big platform.

We’ll see how the sketches play out but I’m most excited about hearing Carrie sing. I’m most hoping for a Carrie-Dolly duet!

PS. She needs to have the original Idol with her. A Carrie and Kelly duet of O Holy Night would be simply Epic! That is all. Come on, universe, make it happen.

Yep. Awesome. I hope they do this special right. I remember that crappy Katie Holmes dance/singing number they did on SYTYCD last season and it was blech.

Well, in this case, they’ll have the advantage of starting with performers who can, you know, actually sing, lol! … Seriously, Carrie and Cookie are both wonderful singers. Even if the production resembles an AI summer tour set, they would both knock the songs out of the park. And since it’s unlikely anybody will ask them to dance, a la Katie, I think we’re safe!

I wouldn’t get my hopes up on seeing Archie on this. He’s not managed by Simon Fuller so it would seem to me that unless Carrie asks to have him on her show, there’d be no reason for him to be there. Carrie and Cook are friends. I don’t know about Carrie and Archuleta being close.

Seeing her belt out Last Name at some of the awards events last year, I actually think Carrie can pull off a hard rock number…
