Carrie Underwood Nabs 2 CMA Nominations

Nominations in the final 5 categories of 44th Annual CMA Awards were announced today and Carrie Underwood nabbed nominations in the categories of Album Of The Year for her album Play On and Female Vocalist Of The Year.

This is Carrie’s 5th consecutive nomination in the CMA Female Vocalist of the Year category (she has won 3 times) and her 2nd nomination for CMA Album of the Year (Carnival Ride was nominated in 2008).

Despite a very successful and well-reviewed headlining tour and her ambassadorship for country music, Carrie did not snag her 1st nomination in the CMA Entertainer Of The Year category. The media will likely talk about that being a significant snub since several of the nominated acts are not yet proven as concert headliners.

Also notable is the fact that last year’s CMA Entertainer Of The Year Taylor Swift did not get nominated in that category again and snagged a lone nomination in the Female Vocalist Of The Year category.

Summary of the nominations after the jump:

Miranda Lambert leads the pack with 9 nominations including one for Entertainer Of The Year. This year’s CMA Awards looks to be the Miranda Lambert and Lady Antebellum show with appearances by Miranda Lambert‘s fiancé Blake Shelton and breakthrough act Zac Brown Band. This year’s CMA Awards will air on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 8 PM Eastern/7 PM Central on ABC, with cohosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood at the helm.
