Carrie Underwood Superbowl Soundcheck
A visitor at the Sunlife Stadium in Miami, Fl yesterday managed to capture Carrie Underwood’s souncheck on Video. She sounds awesome.
But the question is, will she be lip syncing to a pre-recorded track? That’s typically how the Superbowl anthem works. Jennifer Hudson in 2009, and Jordin Sparks in 2008, lip synced their versions of the National Anthem. And eveb the classic Whitney Houston version from the early 90’s was pre-recorded.

They’ve been taping the SSB due to unpredictable weather conditions, sound, acoustics, noise, etc since Whitney sang in the 90’s so I’d be shocked if she didn’t lip sing. They SSB is the one song you can’t afford a bad performance with. They normally don’t take any chances.
She’ll sing into a dead mic like Whitney. It’s been required by the NFL since 1993 because 45min before the game Garth Brooks threatened to not sing if the network didn’t show his new video and the NFL didn’t have a backup plan. The network agreed and he went on. They want it to be “perfect” and not mar the opening of the Big Game.
While I’m not a fan, Carrie sounds really good. Thumbs up on her rendition.

Carrie has shown improvements in vocal ability and here is the proof.
It’s just amazing, makes me goosebumps. Glad she use full chest voice this time instead the head voice for that ‘ Freeeee’ part.
A friend of mine is a great Carrie fan and she heard that for the first time, NFL is giving permission for Carrie to sing without the backing track. Maybe Carrie find it harder to try to match her lips to the backing track than try to hit the high notes live.
We’ll see if she actually sing this live live.
Eh I’ll believe that Carrie’s singing live at the Super Bowl if I see it and there might be a debate about that whether or not she does. Most if not all of the great singers who’ve done it would I’m sure prefer not to lip sync but if people like Jennifer Hudson have chosen to I’m sure it’s with good reason. AI tends to breed very bad lip syncers though for obvious reasons

The biggest problem with singing live in a large bowl with so many people and all the hard surfaces and the gigornormous sound system is that a singer’s voice echoes back at them with a delay. It tends to interrupt the flow of the song and can cause some wicked feedback. I’m sure that these singers are pretty good at handling sound issues, but I would think for such a large TV and stadium audience that it may be best to lip sync. But then, Carrie does have the vocal talent and a really good “ear” so she may be able to carry singing live, under these conditions.
If it is lip synced then why do a live sound check? From what I know of Carrie Underwood she will flat out refuse to lip sync. I don’t have a problem either way but she disdains it.
Perfection. NO way does Carrie lip sync 2morrow. Why would she practice it then?
Ha! I only WISH I could “strain” that well while singing! If that’s straining, then hearing her when she’s not must be earth shattering!
