The reigning CMA Male and Female Vocalists of the Year, Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, will host the Country Music Association Awards on Nov. 12 at Sommet Center. ABC will air the show live beginning at 7 p.m.
CMA chief Tammy Genovese said, “In addition to their musical talent, Brad’s quick wit and Carrie’s gracefulness will serve them well in this role. CMA is happy to offer both of them their first opportunity to host a nationally televised network awards show. “
Cute. Carrie and Brad are the reigning King and Queen of the prom, so to speak, so it kinda sorta makes sense. But Carrie Underwood hosting an awards show? She’s got a great set of pipes, but her personality isn’t exactly, uhm, animated, if you know what I mean.
Not as popular, but a more likely candidate would be the adorable Ms. Kellie Pickler, whose got the personality to pull it off. Ah, anyway, congrats to Carrie Underwood. That’s another feather in her hat. She’s got so many at this point, she might take flight.

I don’t care about Carrie, but I love Brad Paisley, and I don’t even like country music. He’s just so darn likeable and clever and down to Earth.

I agree with MJ. It’s too bad that Kellie isn’t as vocally proficient as Carrie because she would definetly be the better fit here.

I hope this isn’t off-topic, but I’ve seen this somewhere else and I don’t get it– what does that mean? Just general over-excitement? Where is it from?
On-topic: It will be interesting to see how Carrie fairs as co-host. Hopefully, she’s learned to let loose a bit. I think the producers would be wise to depend on good presenters, etc. If she gets to interact a bit with Kellie and Taylor Swift, that may help– I hear the three are buddies, and Carrie could definitely learn a thing or too about conveying a warmer personality from them.

Carrie and Brad are friends and seem to get along real well as you can see if you watch the video at ET Online. He’ll probably help her relax. They actually have a similarly dry sense of humor.

But let’s face it, they probably didn’t ask Carrie to do this because she’s an outgoing personality. She’s a pro who’ll probably handle this job fine but this is as much about the attention she’ll bring to the awards show with her name and her fashion choices as anything else. They wouldn’t have asked her if they didn’t respect her and think she could do the job but the CMA knows this will get the awards show more media.

Aw I don’t know about Carrie but I love Brad Paisley. His song “Whiskey Lullaby” is one of my favorite songs and I’m not even into country music…
I agree with windmills……her outtakes with Brad for the ACM’s were really funny. My personal favorite is the 3rd one….
But let’s be honest….can they be any worse the Ryan and company at the Emmy’s this year?
I saw Brad Paisley the year he was invited to join the Grand Ole Opry, and he is a wonderful entertainer.

I am more excited about Carrie doing the Elvis album than I am about her own. Shame on me. I hope she does well on the CMA Awards!
