Billboard Update For Issue 12/29/08

Here’s the last Idol Billboard Update for 2007!

Highlights:

  • On the Billboard 200: Jordin Sparks debut drops on the chart, from 24-26. But sales increase by 17%. Sales are 62K for a total of 286K. I predict this one will sell slow and steady. Carrie Underwood’s “Carnival Ride” drops 7-9, but has a 29% increase. Sales are 137K for a total of 1.41M. “Some Hearts” bumps up a notch from 60-59, and has a 35% increase. Chris Daughtry’s “Daughtry” moves up the chart from 32-28 and has a 39% increase. Sales are 60K for a total of 3.47M. Blake Lewis, on the other hand, has a typical 2nd week drop that was perhaps softened by Christmas sales. “Audio Day Dream” dropped from 10-32 on the charts with a -41% sales decrease this week. Sales are 57,900 for a total of 155,591. Kellie Pickler’s “Small Town Girl” hangs on this week at #200.
  • Jordin Sparks next single “No Air”, a duet with Chris Brown debuts on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart at #14. Next stop is the Billboard Hot 100, where her current single “Tattoo” climbed two spots to #8. “Tattoo” is a bonafide hit. “No Air” also debuted on the Pop 100 Airplay chart at #43, and sits on the Pop 100 chart at #56. Oh, Jordin finally turned 18 on December 22. She’s no longer “OMG Only 17!!!111!”. Thank Jeebus.
  • Carrie Underwood’s Christmas song, “Do You Hear What I Hear” debuts on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Chart at #16.
  • Katharine McPhee’s “Over the Rainbow/My Destiny” re-enters the Hot Singles Sales chart at #48.

Chris Daughtry - Orlando FL Concert Recap

Reader Sarah attended the Daughtry concert in Orlando FL last Tuesday. She emailed a re-cap, and here it is.

By the way, if you attend an Idol concert and would like to submit a recap with or without pictures, please email them to mjsbigblog@gmail.com. Thanks.

**********

So, as most of you know, I’m a HUGE Daughtry fan. Loved Chris on the show, love the band, love the cd. So, when I found out that they were going to be playing the Hard Rock Live at Orlando ’s Universal Studios, I was stoked. I found a friend to go with me, and bought tickets right when they went on sale. Big kudos to the season five’ers for coming to Orlando in concert (unlike some others *cough*CarrieUnderwoodandKellyClarkson*cough*)!!
