Chris Daughtry Guest Stars on the 100th Episode of CSI NY

Why is a killer targeting Mac Taylors all across Manhattan? Two are already dead and Detective Mac Taylor, (Gary Sinise) a potential victim himself, has to find the killer before he strikes again.

That’s essentially the plotline of the 100th episode of CSI NY, featuring Chris Daughtry as a guy named…yep, Mac Taylor.

Chris is in two scenes. In both, he’s stuck at the precinct in a room with several other Mac Taylors and he’s not very happy about it. Each Mac Taylor has their own special personality trait. The character Chris plays–how can I put this delicately? Is sort of an asshole!

    OMG I forgot to watch…oops. Thanks MJ~

Aww, this is too short, so he’s not the Mac Taylor that person wants to kill? It’s…nice. At least better/funnier the other day Maroon 5 played a band…no they just played a song. Or the LV version made a MV for Coldplay…

ETA: Emmy? You have to guest on 30 Rock~

  2. 2 MOMster Nov 20th, 2008 at 12:00 am

Not too shabby, Chris! :) Thanks, MJ!

ETA: Speaking of assholes, I have some gossip. Sadly, it’s not about Constantine. I’ll email ya!

It’s always great to see AI Alum branching out. Go, Chris!

  9. 9 GwendolynD Nov 20th, 2008 at 12:34 am

Well he is a better actor than BeyonceSasha, that’s for sure.

  10. 10 forlife Nov 20th, 2008 at 12:46 am

He was really good. He stood out in his scenes. I liked when he got all rambo. HOT!

  11. 11 dreamr Nov 20th, 2008 at 1:01 am

    *Fans self*

Man, Chris is such a hottie. XD

Like the others have said, he did a great job! Congrats, Chris! :D

Hey. Not too shabby. Good job Chris! As a bonus, he totally attacked Bailey Salinger…er…Scott Wolf. I had no idea he was still around. I used to love him in middle school on PO5.

  13. 13 smartcookie Nov 20th, 2008 at 1:13 am

So which Mac Taylor did they want to kill? (Let me guess — Scott Wolf.) I think it’s really cool Chris got his acting debut opposite Gary Sinise, one of the original rock’n'roll actors.

The character Chris plays–how can I put this delicately? Is sort of an asshole!

So no acting required? I jest. He did a good job, surprisingly; I always get a little nervous for singers who try acting or the other way around — sometimes, you really can’t cross over.

  15. 15 canadiandcfan Nov 20th, 2008 at 6:05 am

*swoons* oh, i loved it!! his look was permanently rough and shmexy. yay chris!

  16. 16 jersey Nov 20th, 2008 at 8:33 am

OK, am I the only one that LOL’ed when Chris said “Machiavelli” because he wanted to be known by one name? I pictured it tattooed across his back.

  17. 17 poporange Nov 20th, 2008 at 8:46 am

Yes I watched that show and LAw & Order. Chris at least did some acting in a few scenes and did not just sing which is a good PR stunt for the november swing months.. Let me realistic here Chris D got did an ok job and No I really see no Emmy or was not a major scene stealer .Then I base my opinion on his precieved stage AI persona(not a major 180 stretch)and other guests .

Jersey–maybe he will tatoe it across the front..

  18. 18 bean99 Nov 20th, 2008 at 8:52 am

I thought he did a great job. He even got to do a fight scene of sorts. I wonder how he got the chance?

  19. 19 dancin Nov 20th, 2008 at 9:08 am

    it fell flat IMO
    no emmy (pleaseeeeeeeeeeee)
he did ok but not great

again its a matter of perception

  20. 20 hardkandy Nov 20th, 2008 at 9:08 am

I think it was pretty good. Not awkward at all.

  21. 21 Suzanne Nov 20th, 2008 at 9:25 am

I saw the show last night too. I thought Chris did a good job but that he needs to act more. I didn’t completely believe everything he did and said as natural/honest. That said, for a first outing, it was good but he needs to do a lot more of it. (He did a thousand times better than Ace Young did on that CW show a few years ago. In fairness to Ace though, the writing was horrible on that other show.)

Soapbox: I like Gary Sinise and some of the forensics part of these shows so I do watch CSI:NY a couple of times a season. But I am irritated by two things about this show and others like it. (1) when there’s a group of people in a pool of suspects or, here, potential victims, the person they are really looking for is always the highest profile actor. Scott Wolf is the best known actor; therefore, he was THE Mac Taylor. In the first quarter of the show, a major suspense element is over. Chris Daughtry, as a high profile performer, was a decent red herring, but there wasn’t enough dialogue specifically about his character/his recent past to make him a possible target for the killer. (2) The lead woman and, often, supporting female actors do not dress like real people in their jobs dress. How many times is Stella in a tank top while Mac is wearing a t-shirt, a dress shirt, AND a jacket? Who’s overheated and who’s freezing? CSI:Miami is the worst for that–skin-tight tank tops on all the female scientists and shirts and jackets for the men. I’m a fed–if women wore tank tops for field work, their supervisor would have a word with them about professional dress.

I never watched this program before, and after watching it last night, I won’t watch it again!

  23. 23 mj Nov 20th, 2008 at 10:45 am

The Mac Taylor who was attacked but still alive they spoke about at the end of the clip was played by Rumer Willis. Yes, there was a female Mac Taylor.

  24. 24 BootStar Nov 20th, 2008 at 11:24 am

My 13-year-old son loves Chris Daughtry (he burst into tears when Chris got booted off Idol back in Season 5), but he thinks the CSI shows are awful and was embarrassed for Chris. We kinda thought the acting (across the board) was BAD. We had to choose between Law & Order and Dirty Sexy Money last evening and chose to watch the former and record the latter. We caught Chris during the commercials. I will never understand how a show like that is so successful when great shows like Journeyman and Invasion get canceled.

  25. 25 gingerly Nov 20th, 2008 at 11:31 am

I don’t watch very much TV actually and had never seen the show. I still haven’t thanks to MJ!

I thought he did an okay job. I didn’t find him totally believable in all parts but still better than I’m sure I could have done.

  26. 26 CRB Nov 20th, 2008 at 11:37 am

The character Chris plays–how can I put this delicately? Is sort of an asshole!

Well, I guess that since it was his first acting gig they didn’t want him to have to stretch too much. [rimshot]

Seriously, I think he did a good job and I love the Southern accent, you don’t hear those (real ones) much on television these days.

  27. 27 JJ123 Nov 20th, 2008 at 11:53 am

    Thanks for the vid mj

As a fan I was nervous for him but I thought he did great!! I probably overanalyzed every move and expression though, haha. He definitely had his moments like during the fight scene where I thought he did fabulous. I’d love to see him get some more gigs :tongue1_tb:

  28. 28 CarieB Nov 20th, 2008 at 12:19 pm

Good job, Chris. Way to go. I’d like to see him get more parts - FO SHO!

  29. 29 J Nov 20th, 2008 at 12:29 pm

One last thought, I would love to see him play Bruce Willis’s son in the next Die Hard movie…..I think they look alike :ponder_tb:

  30. 30 lovegoodmusic Nov 20th, 2008 at 12:36 pm

I think he was superb and did a better job than I expected. I’m very proud of Chris Daughtry on his acting ability, and successful music career.

Oh, and I loved his southern accent, and hope to see more of his acting.

Thank you MJ for sharing this.

  31. 31 AZIdolFan Nov 20th, 2008 at 12:47 pm

i was nervous for him last night and i thought he did a pretty good job. i’m sure he had fun and maybe he got a little acting bug and will do more. as long as he is doing music, i wouldn’t mind if he got a little acting habit.

  32. 32 ALee Nov 20th, 2008 at 6:28 pm

I also thought CD did a very good on CSI NY. Not bad at all for someone who has never acted professionally before.

  33. 33 cooktard76 Nov 20th, 2008 at 7:09 pm

Aww, I thought Chris did a good job. Love the accent, hehe.
Oh and I still heart Bailey!

  34. 34 wwlwilliam Nov 21st, 2008 at 12:26 am

Chris has shown - through this acting debut on primetime tv - that he’s definitely a multi-faceted professional artist of excellence - as a highly talented singer. a gifted song-writer, a great live act and now a budding actor with promise :)

Chris is definitely ONE of the total package from AI - He’ll transcend (I strongly believe) beyond just mere singing.. Look for his debut in the moviedom very soon..

    Go Chris Go!

  35. 35 YellowClouds Nov 21st, 2008 at 6:07 am

Is it bad that I find him more believable and likeable as a Mac Taylor rather than a rockstar?
