Chris Daughtry Record News! New CD drops Next Year – Deluxe Daughtry in September
This little item slipped by me over the 4th of July Holiday. Chris Daughtry recently spoke with Shirley Halperin about his upcoming album, due to be released in spring of ‘09:
What can fans expect from the followup to his four-times-platinum debut, Daughtry? “It’s going to be a big huge rock album,” he says. “We are working with the same producer à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ Howard Benson [All American Rejects, My Chemical Romance] à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ same band and some of the same writers so it feels very comfortable this time around.” The band is looking at a 2009 release, Spring at the earliest, which means several more extended stays in Los Angeles…
Kelly Clarkson is also mentioned in the article. She has a pre-Christmas album release scheduled. But I digress!
Fans of Daughtry’s first album can purchase the Deluxe Edition due in stores September 9. The CD/DVD package will include four additional songs, including acoustic versions of “Home” and “What About Now,” a live version of “It’s Not Over” and a cover of Foreigner’s “Feels Like The First Time.” The DVD will contain behind-the-scenes footage, music videos and other content.

I think I have very rarely seen a smiling Chris D pic like that one up there. I like it. Heh.
Oh, I’m seeing Daughtry in concert in my country in about two weeks. I’m looking forward to it.
Now, this album I look forward to.
What does “same band” mean? The same band as the first album which is different than the band that he tours with?!
The first album was recorded before his current band was put together by Chris and the label. Chris is saying that his touring band will be recording the album with him.
Purps, I had a hard time finding a nice, smiling shot on Wire Image. Heh.
That’s considered smiling? It could pass for a grimace… LOL
But really, Chris should smile more. Most of the time he looks angry for some reason.

Well, I’m looking forward to the sophomore album, but I’ve played “Daughtry” to death and am pretty tired of it. So, “Deluxe”? I think not.
Chris has a million dollar smile when he uses it, but I agree he should use it more!
awww I’m a HUGE fan of Daughtry and I’ve seen tons and tons of pictures of him smiling…..however I don’t know how many of those are up on wireimage. But I’ve met him several times and he’s always really funny and laughing….no anger whatsoever.
For those interested the band will be appearing on the show FN Mtv Video Premiers tonight to debut their video for the next single What About Now (shown on IGB). I think it’s shown at 8:00pm Eastern. From speculation on the Daughtry sites it looks like it’s going to be clips of people less fortunate and different charities….not confirmed, that’s just what people are guessing based on some leaked tidbits.

Hmmm I was kinda hoping that he would wait a bit longer to release something else. I can NOT turn on my radio and not hear his songs playing constantly. I actually do like them but it’s getting to that overload point..

According to some sites Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve seen about Kelly Clarksonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s album sheà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s worked with Ryan Tedder on a few songs (and heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s said that this is going to be her best album yet) and Mick Mars (?) from Motley Crue. I think ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s going to be more in the vein of the Big Power songs of Breakaway.
I cant wait to hear it. I really enjoyed his first album.
And I cant wait for Kellys, from reading around sounds like its going to to be a little bit different.
It’s really not that unusual a move for a relatively new artist/group. It helps to keep the most rabid fans from getting too restless while waiting for the next album of brand new material.
Having said that, I would prefer that labels release “deluxe editions” at the same time as regular editions, giving consumers their choice of which one to buy. Being a new act though, there wouldn’t have been much behind-the-scenes material for the dvd. Not to mention that the studio band was different from the touring band.
i am so tired of artists re-releasing the same material with a “deluxe” edition to bump up album sales…(nickelback, taylor swift, mariah carey, now daughtry)…it totally rips off the hard core fans who already have the album but are forced to re-buy it just to get a few scraps of new material

Now that I’ve seen a smiling Daughtry photo, I think I like him better when he isn’t smiling. JMO
Chris smiles alot. I seen tons and tons of pics of Chris smiling, more-so than not, and he does have a million dollar smile! I don’t consider the picture above a smile, there are a ton of them out there where he shows his teeth.
I’m looking forward to the re-release, as are most Daughtry fans based on what I’ve read online.
